It depends, I guess. Origins is the second largest and second oldest (some folk contend oldest) gaming convention out there. And usually, the awards are pretty spot on. So if a game got an award, if it didn't deserve it, it was likely right next to the one that did, quality-wise.

It doesn't mean that much to the larger game lines, but for a smaller game, it can give it a boost in terms of visibility, and therefore sales.
