Favorite Predator film

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Predator culture revolves around the hunting and stalking of dangerous lifeforms. After making a kill, Predators typically skin or decapitate a carcass, converting it into a trophy. Failure in a hunt results in the Predator involved committing an honorable suicide. It is often alluded to that the reason Predators hunt is not for sustenance or elimination of threats, but as entertainment, as they will only attack life forms that have the ability to provide them with a challenge.Hunting is the cornerstone of the Yautja culture. When hunting humans, Predators normally avoid unarmed individuals, though they will spare armed ones if they happen to be pregnant or sickly.

A human who has managed to kill a Predator in single combat or has fought alongside one is usually given a trophy (often a rare or exotic weapon) as a sign of respect. Predators have a deep respect for Aliens and consider them to be worthy as hunting trophies. The Predators put adolescents through a dangerous coming of age ritual which is intended to weed the weak and breed the strong. The hunter's graduation/initiation rite is completed with the marking of his forehead with the acidic blood of his first kill.

Yautja/Predators have a code of honor. In the film Predator 2, the predator spared the pregnant female cop, the naked prostitute and the kid with a toy gun , who thought the predator was Casper the ghost. Perhaps he spared their lives because the prostitute was defenseless, the female cop was pregnant and the kid was only a kid. I guess the predator's code of honor forbids hunting and killing pregnant women, children and unarmed prey.

In the first AVP film, the surviving predator at first spared the life of the corporate mogul named Weyland because his infrared sensors told him he was ill. However he killed Weyland only after Weyland squandered the predator's mercy by attacking him. In the predator's view, there is no honor or sport in killing a sick prey.

In the first two Predator movies, the Predators are naked without armor. In the AVP movies, the predators wear armorplate but only when they are hunting "hard meat" xenomorphs.

When they are hunting only humans, they take off armor before that in order to perhaps give humans a fair and sporting chance. Yes, in both AVP films, they wore armor when they came on earth and killed humans . But they were here to hunt xenomorphs, not humans. The Prredators killed only humans who got in their way. It is also not against ther code to eliminate the ones who witnessed their attempts to keep the Xenomorph existence a secret. The predator also killed an armed man because he was threatening a mother and a child. However he spares the lives of the mother and the child.

The Yautja, being the ever-sportsmen, consider it unsporting and dishonorable to wear armor while hunting humans since any earthly projectile weapons cannot penetrate their diamond-hard armor plates, which had to be made of the same materials as their melee weapons.
In Predator 2 movie, the metallurgist, examining the blade, exclaims "it has almost no weight. Then Danny Glover's character adds, "But it cuts through steel". Only a xenomorph's stinger tail and acidic blood can penetrate the Yautja armor.

The original Predator, of course. Though, I do have a soft spot; I think Predator Vs. Murtaugh is highly underrated.

I'll go with predator 2 in the spirit of fairness. I like the city element.

Although slight complaint about all predator films... did they need to make the damn predator sound like a woodpecker when it was up in the tree invisible... I get really freaked out sometimes.

Don't judge.

While Danny Glover was awesome in "Predator 2", It's hard to compete with Action Jackson, Jesse "The Body" Ventura weilding a minigun, Billy's laugh, and Arnold's "Stick around." The first "Predator" had the best cast of human characters. The Predator was just a nice bonus in that movie compared to the other characters. In the AvP movies, the human characters are easily forgettable.

I liked Hawkins and his funny jokes, and to this day I still call myself a "Sexual Tyrannosaurus" in tribute to Blaine. Next to T2, this is probably my favorite Arnold movie.

The first Predator beats all.

"Predator" wins it for me, but "Predator 2" was absolutely awesome nonetheless. Though to be fair, I haven't seen "Alien vs. Predator: Requiem" yet.

Is there even a contest here ? Predator 1 slays the rest of the predator movies.

Fantastic cast members. Jesse Ventura was a bonifide scene stealer as Blaine , in the short time he had on screen.
Great movie , will never ever get tired of watching the movie over and over for sure.

Predator is one of the most slickly directed action movies of the 80s. The one on one survival battle between Arnold and a space monster is pretty hard to top, no matter who you are. Predator 2 is unfairly hated, but it just isn't anywhere close to being as good as the first. The AvP franchise is loathsome garbage.

I voted Predator as well, but I too have a soft spot for Pred 2 which also has Bill Paxton.

When are those stupid movie producers gonna learn a good sci fi monster movie must have a bunch of devil may care, arrogant but proffesional soldiers it worked so well in Predator and Aliens but it is scarcely seen nowadays in movies who can forget Blain, Billy and duke in Predator and Hicks, Hudon and Vasquez in Aliens?.

In "Doom", another movie that sadly also involves soldiers fighting aliens, the only human characters I remember being in it are The Rock, Eomer from "Lord of the Rings", and the wheelchair guy who becomes a pink demon. They should have just had a Doom guy in a helmet fighting the monsters from the game. It's not really "Doom" when you remove the entire premise of the game.

I'm surprised this poll didn't have "Predator" as the option in all of the slots. Seriously, it's no contest. The second one was fairly enjoyable though.

I voted 2nd one though it was a close call between it and the first one. The 3rd one was barely ok. The last one is perhaps the worst movie of 2007 that I saw as it had one minute of plot repeated 90 times: see Alien kill a redshirt human, see Predator kill alien, repeat.

I think the original might have been a better movie, but I really enjoyed seeing a more everyman like Glover in a city setting from the sequel. Having Predator in an urban jungle in the middle of a gang war was aweosme. Plus I loved that subway scene and how monsterous the Predator seemed in the middle of the city.

Meanwhile, forget the sequels. I'll stick to the comics. Actually, another neat Predator in an urban area story is Batman vs Predator III. I picked that up years ago and enjoyed it.

Not only are the characters more memorable, but Predator had better action and more suspense than any of its sequels. Hell, attack on the rebel camp would have been the climax to most action movies of its day, but it's just part of establishing the bad-ass cred of Arnold and company before the Pred starts picking them off. Also, the final cat-and-mouse confrontation in the jungle was way, way more interesting than Glover facing off with a one-armed Predator in a blade fight.

Some of my friends and I still greet each other like Dutch and Dillon.

I'll give a pity vote to Predator 2, I think it was the better film technically. I didn't really like the ending to Predator, while Predator 2 just kept getting better as the film progressed.

Plus it had Gary Busey..... I love me some Gary Busey

I think 20 times, maybe more, I've seen this movie. Waiting for the next one.
Now I come to think about it. I should buy the DVD. Is there some good bonus, added scenes??
