Ok, I meant to announce this at the Cape dinner, but I got to picking on Scott and defending my mustache, and I forgot about it until afterwards. We're expecting . . .

. . . to adopt one of our foster kids. We've been getting all of the paperwork in order since prior to Christmas. It's a terribly involved process. I felt like I needed to be on the couch of my shrink to answer the questions, really. "Which parent are you closest to? Why? Which family member are you less like? Why? What was your childhood like? Why? Why is your right forarm bigger than your left? Same goes for your bicept. Why do you like rainbows so much? Unicorns?"

Yeah, I know, huh? But we did finally get through all of that. Now, we've only got the homestudy to go through. There, they do a homestudy similar to the ones that we've had to do for foster care, but they also go into the answers that you provided to all their questions.

Well, we got a great surprise, today, when we took him to a routine court procedure. While there, I testified, along with everyone else envolved, and the judge said afterwards that she felt that we needed to speed things up, b/c as far as she was concerned, he had already been with us for over 6 months. They originally said August 6, but then had to push it back to August 20. We'll go to court for the final time (I believe) and it's at that time that we'll get the title from the bank . . . er . . . something like that at any rate.

I'm very excited. I haven't talked about it much on here or in "real" life. I didn't want things to fall through and then have to explain everything a million times. I feel confident, now, however, that I can post the news without having to issue a retraction.

So, I just wanted to say . . .

IT'S A BOY!!!

He's a little cutie, too.

And Ray's already got him identifying comic book heroes, so it's all good.

Eric is far too busy playing GTA 4 to bother with the likes of YABSers, he's got important killin' and stealin' to do.

Hey Ray, Eric says "That's great, I'm really happy for him." Then he turned on the 360.

He also mumbled something about you having someone to teach how to play football... which actually didn't make a lot of sense but he was already killin' and stealin' by then.

So anyway, I think that qualifies as a heartfelt congratulations from Monkey Boy.

That's some kind of awesome, Ray. Congratulations, man!

But what does this mean for the future of the Eric and Ray Show? Will we see a shift from the shiftless shenanigans to shenanigans of a more wholesome nature?

Not likely.

Hopefully, we'll get a couple of episodes shot while Eric is on summer break, he's taking Trig for the first summer semester, so it'll be late summer before he'll have more free time.

But I have to say, The Eric & Ray Show will probably see very few more episodes before saying good-bye altogether.

Eric is most likely headed out of state for college in another six months to a year. And he's trying really hard to make it as soon as he can round up some scholarship money. Last time we talked about it, he mentioned Auburn and I believe he intends to apply for transfer for the Spring semester.

Vic is about to be a brand new Papa himself, Baby Ringslinger is due in early June.

We do, however, have a working plan in place to replace The Eric & Ray Show and still manage to keep the whole cast involved. Stay tuned.

I know I've been overly emotional lately, and I hope that will disapate now that I've made it through the year mark of Dad dying and that the divorce that has been in progress since July will be final soon, but wow, reading that made me really sad. :frown:
