Question: Is it implied on the last page that at least the Braddock Captain Britain is dead? I remember seeing some solicits of future issues with someone who didn't look like Braddock in the uni. Them giving him the Quasar treatment would piss me off and immediately make me drop the title after the SI tie-ins.

It's being implied that he's dead -- and the next issue's previews show the ramifications of it -- but don't drop the book before you've even given the new guy (or the returning current guy, as the case may easily be) a chance. If that's the only reason to drop a title, I would seriously pity doing so.

I'm going to drop it immediately on principle if this is the case, I know today's writers want to make their mark, but they desperatekly need to stop constantly killing and replacing characters with new versions of them. First Captain America, then Quasar, now Captain Britain. (Actually they did it with Captain Marvel too, being a Captain in the MU is like a death warrant)

They should kill off Braddock then bring him back as Keira Knightley

or Elizabeth Hurley

I rolled my eyes three times there. Four times if you include TheORKINMan's post. Yes, yes, we all know how gorgeous Hurley and Newton are and how stunningly beautiful Knightley is . . .

TheORKINMan - Captain America's death and subsequent replacement by Bucky has been one of the best-told stories in comic history. And you don't know that Captain Britain will be replaced with someone else, none of us do. He might come back (look at the issue 4 cover and try to think of another blonde British hero with that build - Cornell wouldn't just replace Braddock with a nobody).

Since we are all getting giddy waiting for issue #2, can anyone give me some background on Billie Piper? Here in the US, Showtime (a cable network) picked up a series from England called "Secret Diary of a Call Girl" and I was just curious if anyone knows if it's any good?

I didn't see Secret Diary Of A Call Girl but I can give you some background on Piper. She was a singer in her teens, so check out some of her videos on YouTube (her song "Day and Night" even has a touch of Britney Spears about it). For a few years, when her singing career was pretty much over, she was only known to the public for her marriage to Chris Evans (the ginger British DJ, not the Human Torch) and is now divorced. Then she came back as the assistant in the relaunch of Doctor Who and hit new heights of popularity.

I may be in the minority, but I would very much like to see Kelsey again, someday. I actually liked Austen's take on the difference between a Captain choosing the Amulet and the Sword. I wish Chris Claremont had actually embraced that take rather than writing his Amulet=GOOD and Sword=EVIL stance in New Excalibur.

I agree, it was a nifty idea and she acts as a nice segue into the Captain Britain mythos as whole. There was so much potential there and I'm rather disappointed that CC just squandered when he randomly set her up (however overly generic) and then forgot her in favour of Diana Fox. However I do think she needs just a little bit of a rest given how poorly she was used.
