So McCain sought endorsement of this guy? Wow. This guy is supposed to be a man of God and he's talking about war with Islam and gays going against God's Law. Anyone know more about this?

Sounds like another Christian leader that doesn't get the point of his own religion. The Bible calls people to spiritual warfare, not outrageously militant activism.

So McCain sought endorsement of this guy?
If you mean Reverend Paisley, notorious demagogue, instigator of violence and spreader of sectarian hatred...
...then McCain supporters are no longer morally allowed to bring up the Reverend Obama was linked to. Because Paisley is worse. Paisley did things that GOT PEOPLE KILLED AND INJURED, which he knew would happen.

He means Parsley. (I looked it up (http://www.motherjones.com/washington_dispatch/2008/03/john-mccain-rod-parsley-spiritual-guide.html).)
In other news, he's asked Dill the Dog to be his Veep.

Ah. I figured it was a misspelling.
Still going to make it hard to complain about Obama and Rev Wright when McCain's close to a guy calling for the destruction of another faith. (...are we sure he's not Paisley?)

To be fair, Paisley wanted to murder people of his own faith.

I haven't been watching the news lately. Has this garnered a lot of news attention? The only reason I knew about it was because Michael Savage was defending one of this reverends other statements and saying the difference between Wright and this Parsley is that the majority of Americans don't agree with Wright, whereas they do with Parsley (in regards to his views on people that are gay).

Okay, I'v heard Hagee's comments and now this Parsely guys. I'm surpised people like this have such a following and that their not on the news.
Hagee said Hurricane Katrina was because New Orleans was going to have a gay parade. It's like people are thinking like in ancient times when they believed natural disasters were the cause of displeased gods or not enough sacrificing.
Then Parsely is saying Mohammed was guided by demons. Wow. These guys sound like the preacher from Children of the Corn.
Some radio shock jock, Michael Medved, was saying that Hagee's comments weren't hate speech but "stupid," and that just because people think his opinions are wrong doesn't mean that he is wrong and that a presidential candidate should seek his endorsement because he is influential to millions of people. Then of course he went on to say that this is different than Rev. Wright. Wright is racist and anti-America but these guys (hagee and parsely) are not bigots or spewing hate speech. Okay.
These same people were mad at Obama, because although he said he didn't ask for Farrakhans support and condemns his anti-semite and racist remarks he didn't outright reject his endorsement.
Yet here it's okay to seek out endorsement of another influential religious leader who is promoting hate.
Are these people really that stupid not to see the hypocracy or do they know it's wrong but do whatever they can to win, like the ends justify the means.

For those who think Obama was being unfairly tarred by his association with Rev. Wright and went on about how it was just Republican fueled distraction?
Well, I think that McCain should be equally held accountable for this association.
About the only difference I can see is that this guy was never a personal spiritual councilor to McCain, right? Wright's got that one in the bag, with Obama, even if was mostly for show/for the community.

Much much bigger difference is Wright and Obama were very close personal friends and spiritual adviser/mentor for 20 years, and these are 2 guys who we don't even know if they've even met McCain face to face before.
Yeah, a mentor, friend, and adviser for 20 years = the same as someone you don't even know and just call up to ask for an endorsement.

The difference between Rev. Wright and these two fucknuts, as I see it:
Wright is angry with America for its poor treatment of minorities.
The two fucknuts would probably be angry with America for not treating minorities (at least, certain types) poorly enough.

After Parsley, Hagee and Falwell (agents of intolerance) made really disgusting comments... McCain SOUGHT their endorsements and has yet to denounce the insulting things they've said about Muslims and gays.

So you call up anyone for an endorsement? Come on! A ways back McCain was calling televangelists "agents of intolerance." Now he realizes he needs these same agents of intolerance to get the bible belt votes. McCain knows who he's seeking for endorsement and what they are about.
I agree or atleast believe that Obama must be influenced a little by Wright if he had attended his services for 20 years, not to mention he said that we all listen to things in church that make us cringe (I for one haven't). But how can you criticize Obama but not McCain and his choice to seek endorsement of these hateful preachers.
I was really suprisded at what Parsley said, not to mention what Hagee said about Hurricane Katrina happening because of gay parade. It's like these guys live in the dark ages, attributing every natural disaster to God's wrath.

I don't agree with McCain shmoozing with these idiots. I think it showcases the massive amounts of blatant pandering he has done to get the nomination, and will do in a bid for the presidency. It lowers my respect for McCain.
However, some phone calls and a photo-op with a couple idiots in an obvious endorsement bid doesn't reflect on McCain's personal opinions and judge of character the way 20 long years of very closer friendship with a bigot and racist like Wright, a crook like Rezko, murderers like Odinga, terrorist supporters like Ali Abunimah, Hatem El-Hady, William Ayers, and Bernadine Dohrn, anti-semites like Rashid Khalidi, and so many others.
These lengthy, numerous connections to truly vile people are not as easily explained away as "Hey, I just wanted an endorsement, I don't really believe anything they say," the way McCain's can be. I believe he associated with people like these for the past several decades because he shares at least some of their beliefs and attitudes.
They say "You are judged by the company you keep." If that's true, Obama has a LOT to answer for, much more than McCain's pandering for endorsements (which I don't excuse at all, I just put it in the perspective of "hey, he's a politician trying to get elected, it's expected, even if it's disappointing.")
I have to say that the Conservative side of the aisle are actually doing a really good job of making the case for why we should all vote for Obama.
Here we are what is it, going on six weeks now, seven, where the only thing that anyone has managed to do to discredit the Senator is to point out his highly respectable, moral and decent, but definitely outrageous preacher has said some truly dumbass things over a 40 year career.
And that’s all those guys have been able to do now that I think about it.
They really don’t stand a chance of beating Obama on the issues and they aren’t getting anywhere challenging his ethics, so they have nothing left but to try to paint the Senator as a crazy n*gg*r.
And even that tried and true tactic isn’t working for them.
In the meantime the Republicans have just lost their third “safe” seat special election in a row, McCain is having campaign staff being forced to resign for lobbing work for the Burmese junta and Obama just keeps moving ahead, looking calm and cool, and talking about the future.

How can we debate him on the issues when Obama's firm stances and well-articulated positions on actual issues are rarer than hen's teeth?
His issues are "I'm for hope and change."
Duh, so is everyone else. What else ya got?

Oh, and Rick, read the partial list I just posted above, it goes waaaay beyond just Wright. Wright is the tip of the iceberg of whack-jobs, crooks, and terrorist sympathizers Obama has associated with.

Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me.
When the Conservative side talks about Sen. Obama’s lack of clearly articulated positions they can only come to that conclusion if they manage to ignore his clearly stated position on ending the war, repairing America’s relationships overseas, open dialogue with hostile nations, ending the Bush tax credits, implementing environmental reforms, working toward universal healthcare, and reforming social security.
Just to name a few.
As for the tip of the iceberg of whack-jobs, crooks, and terrorist sympathizers, if I was on the Republican side I would be careful about those sort of accusations when you take into account the Republican own collection of whack-jobs (Hagee, Parsley), crooks (Delay, Abramhoff, Cunningham, Noe, Libby, Safavian, etc.) or terrorist sympathizers (North, Rumsfeld, Siljander, Poindexter, Cheney and Ronald Reagan), because it just might bite them on the ass.

Let's say he never met these guys like you say may be the case. Then to me McCain is not fit to be president, if he can't even find out what kind of people he's seeking out for endorsement. If it's the other way, he knows what these guys are about and says, "to hell with it I need votes," than I look at him as a presidential candidate who will do anything to win, regardless of what's right or moral.

Forget about Obama. I brought him and Wright up because I think that any religious leader spewing hate and the candidates that associate/seek endorsement of, should be all over the news. Your minimizing what McCain is doing with these bigots by continuously bringing up Obama and/or Wright.

So the "ends justify the means" for you? What if Obama ( I know now I'M brining him up but only because this is a more comparable comparison, however hypothetical) had sought out the endorsement of Farrakhan? Would you justify it the way your justifying McCain's decisions?
