It would be awesome if say...Jason Armstrong and Mike Mignola decided to show up. That would be a Hellabration.
I'm hoping to make the trip down this year. Looks like a great con.
I would love to go. Not enough time for me to drive back, to get my kids to school. Oh crap:(

I don't want to skip sunday. Looks like I am going. My sons best friend lives there and I will take advantage of the oppertunity for them to get together. My daughter will be upset if her dance recidal is the that same weekend. If not, then it will be a family trip.:D

You can find good deals on Sunday, but it gets pretty dead around 3 or so.
Everyone coming from north of my should stay near me on Thursday and we can have a cook out at my house! :D

I won't be making the same mistake I made in Baltimore that's for sure. I'll be going in early and leaving late so I get a shot at more sketches this time. I need a Guy Davis Abe!

You can come if you want, but it'll probably be burgers and hot dogs (and veggie nonsense something for my vegan friend), since my steak cooking skills are lackluster since I got a desk job.

I'm of the firm belief that StrongBad is one of the greatest fictional characters ever created, so I have to go! :D
I hope the King of Town doesn't bogart all the pizza
I was wondering how everyone is getting tickets. They say only three day passes are bought ahead of time. Anyone just going for 1 day?.
parrish

Why not go for the 3-day pass for the same price?
Plus you'll get a cool print and probably some other neat stuff too?

Well, Thursday evening my 2 year old son had an asthma attack and we ended up in the emergency room until about 3:30 in the morning and didn’t get home until around 4:30. But with my wife’s blessing, I slept for an hour or so and got up, showered and hopped in the car with friends who were nice enough to pick me up.
We got the con, picked up our tickets, Ran into and chatted with Asa, etc and the first stop I made was to Guy Davis, who was very funny, friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be there. After he signed my books, he gave me a “quick, free head sketch” which is more properly labeled “A small masterpiece” in my Lobster Johnson sketchbook.
This is the cover:
http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj42/mrmugly/Heroes%202008/cover.jpg
This is the sketch.
http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj42/mrmugly/Heroes%202008/GuyLojo.jpg
Next stop was by Marvel Bullpens writer/artist Chris Giarasso.
Who added this:
http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj42/mrmugly/Heroes%202008/ChrisGlojo.jpg
Then I stopped by the Hellboard’s own Francesco Francavilla’s table and chatted with him for a bit and was eager to buy some Zorro comics from him, but he didn’t have any. So I went and bought some for him to sign.
Eventually, I checked into the hotel and crashed for about an hour and went back down to the con floor and bought the revised edition of Tim Sale’s Black and White (which is the same size as the Hellboy Library edition). Then I met up with Asa and Jankenstein, called Ken O, who was in route to the restaurant.
Then we drove to the restaurant where outside a woman started to wave to us, but I thought it was probably to someone behind us. Until she said “You two! Come with me!” And if I hadn’t been going on an hour of sleep and no caffeine, I probably could have figured out that it was Ken O’s wife, but I didn’t and just followed.
Then we all had dinner (all I remember is that Jankenstein and Ken O said all the music was terrible) and then talked outside for a while.
Then Jank and I went back to the hotel and I went to bed.

Its Francesco’s Chiaroscro sketchbook and if you don’t have it, you are robbing yourself of a wonderful, wonderful sketchbook. The sketches range from quirky and fun, to strange and frightening and all points in between and are each one brilliant.
And it tops off when a sketch of your choice.

It was all pretty badass.
I found out Jankenstein is a viking.
Grabbed every Hellboy, B.P.R.D., The Goon comic I could find and afford; A few notables is the Hellboy Chistmas Special, The Goon #1 Erik Powell self-published with Flying Albatross , The Goon #1 from Dark Horse, and Goon #7 Hellboy crossover.
I got good ol' Guy Davis to sketch me an Abe, to which he added a thought bubble depicting a grand piano and the, "Cheers Justin!" word bubble.
Got some comics signed by Erik Larson and attended Images conference, if anyone was there, I was the one who made the whole place crack up by ansking a question about Joe's flashing red nipple. (Had to be there.)
I also attended some of the S.C.A.D. workshops which were all great but Nolan Woodards computer coloring workshop was by far the very best. Fresh bitchin' if you ask this man.
