I played again for like the 20th time or so, out in coram, ny today and I was wondering since theres alot of new yorkers on these boards, curious to know do any of you guys and girls play?

or for that matter anyone else into this exciting game.

and for those who havent played. Its fun, pretty cheap and doesn't really hurt all that much.

I've only done it a couple times, but yeah, it was a fucking blast, and well worth the welts.

I haven't played paintball in a few years, but it's lots of fun and I'd like to go again soon.

What I've found is it's best to go with groups of friends and/or co-workers because sometimes when people we don't know join in it's really soured the game for me. One time it was people who simply cheated, you could clearly see them get hit but they'd just run away, another time it was the hardcore players who try to work the rules, like constantly asking for paint-checks.

But with a good group of players you're guaranteed a fun day.

I admit I've done some bad and mean things with a paintball gun. Other than pretending I and my team were out of paintball pellets, to draw the other team out to point blank range, and then unloading on them, that was bad...But, we did some drive by shootings in the back of a truck bed through neighborhoods.

It was much like T.P.ing or egging someone's house, but way more fun. Especially since their neighbors dove into the bushes thinking they were real guns. We're probably lucky we weren't shot at by someone with a real gun.

or be more selective of who you match against

I did it once, and enjoyed the crap out of myself. It was waaaay back in about '93. I don't know if it's still there, but it was at an indoor course over in the Detroit area. Big warehouse with lots of set up "cover" (basically various-sized huge "boxes" psychedelically painted with blacklight paint). "Capture the flag" style, with lock-out buzzer buttons at each end. We played four games and the team I was on (we rechose after every game) won 3 out of the 4. Second game I personally got to slap the buzzer as they sent me around stealth-style while the others provided distraction.

Great fun, and I'd do it again, but I think I liked the indoor course better than I would have an outdoor. Easier strategy and quicker action.

Not since I discovered airsoft.

Airsoft is a lot more tactical, and that's awesome, but sadly, without qualified marshalls, it relies too much on players/"skirmishers" being honest.

Anyone ever been to that massive paintball event in Oklahoma where they reenact D-Day?

Paintball is really fun, but this one time I got pelted by several pain guns at one time. It was the angriest I have ever been in my life, LOL.

My God, I would have loved to be there.I played a few games with my brother and a couple of friends...free-for-all, capture-the-flag and lone wolf. It was very fun, but we had to quit because we didn't have the moolah to do it frequently.

By the by, here's one of the best webcomics I've read. It's about paintball.

The Whiteboard. (http://www.lby3.com/si/viewtopic.php?p=58663#58663)

Starts slow, but by the time they get to the actual webcomic format, you're hooked.

Yeah, D-Day Oklahoma is done every year around June 6. My friends and I have been meaning to go for the past three years.

I've heard mixed reviews. On the one hand, the guys who dress in period uniforms and build tanks and do combat drills make the event interesting. But it also attracts a lot of douchebag teenagers who don't follow the rules or play like crap.

Those should be drafted into the first-wave of attackers, against the heavy paint-cannons.

Its lots of fun, but the cost constantly refilling paintballs and CO2 is too expensive for it to be a casual sport.

Hahaha, funny story. Me, my Jewish friend, his brother, and his cousins were going down to Florida for a vacation. While we were passing some field, we saw hundreds of guys in SS uniforms waving around Nazi banners. They were screaming, "GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!!!" Later, we found out it was a WW2 paintball reenactment.
