With the release of the trade of his series this week, newer readers got a chance to enjoy the original Aztek book. Sure, it was messy in places, but it had some neat concepts.
He was also in Morrison's JLA, and recently in the JLU cartoon.
Yes, his story is finished, but this is comic books afterall.
Bring back Aztek! And while we're at it, a new printing of the trade on DECENT paper, too please. Kthxbai.

Remember in "Rock of Ages" I believe someone different had the name.

A woman, IIRC.
I swear, DC announced the trade of this just days after I finished buying all of the original run on Ebay. No doubt they'll soon release a comprehensive Ambush Bug trade very soon.

Oh, Lord, that would be awesome!
Anyway, Aztek's coming back. Or, an Aztek is coming back. In Final Crisis. Maybe it's the one from "Rock of Ages." That'd be cool and cyclical.

It's been happening to me for years. I bought those JSA: Unholy Three PF minis, and found out they were being traded WHEN I GOT HOME FROM THE F'ING COMIC SHOP!!!
Stars & S.T.R.I.P.E.? Bought the whole run, it gets traded a few years later.
Brubaker's "Man of Wood" arc from Batman that teamed Bats with Alan Scott? Bought, then traded in the "Man Who Laughs" HC.
Several various Batman & Wonder Woman issues by Brian K. Vaughan that I purchased one-by-one over the course of several years? All six traded in Batman: False Faces. (http://dccomics.com/graphic_novels/?gn=8527)
It's like DC has a chip in my head.

Well, considering that I just bought an entire run of the Ostrander Spectre to bind into hardcovers, we'll probably hear an announcement on that one soon, as well.
And yes, Aztek was awesome. I don't care what anyone says about the 90's being a bad decade for comics. Between Aztek, Major Bummer, Resurrection Man, Hitman, The Spectre, and Starman, DC published some great superhero books at the time.

Too bad no one read them. Most were too busy reading Wizard finding out which Pat Lee vairent cover of Wolverine / Punisher to buy and when the next Danger Girl was coming out. I confess I was one. Though I am repentant and trying to find these gems in trade if possible.

It's true that none of those books was doing Spawn numbers at the time, but I've never had a problem with searching out the more obscure/quality stuff. Seriously, it's kind of hard to find, but track down Hitman if you possibly can. I think it might be better than Preacher.

Hey, could I interest you guys into buying the whole runs of Suicide Squad, Mark Waid's Flash, Justice League Europe, Major Bummer, Legion Lost, and the Ted Kord Blue Beetle run? Sure wish DC would make trades of those.
And I just bought and read the Aztek trade. Brilliant stuff!
