Oh, for God's sake.
My mother gave me italian chicken for lunch and didn't see the cashews or something. Now I feel ill and my throat is semi-constricted...
No, I'm not going into shock.
Cashews in Italian chicken? not something I'd expect.
Mind you I am surprised by how sneaky pecans can be.

Guess it's a day for Grandmothers in the hospital. Just got an email from my Dad informing us that my Gram had a stroke yesterday or the day before (it's unclear) and because she lives alone she drove herself to the hospital. So, I guess she still has her mobility but she's lost all of her ability to communicate. Very sad. And I feel really guilty for not going up to see her during this last year. Crap!

When things are going down and you wanna pick it up
Why don't you try and do what I do
The way I know to get you out of that slump is
To listen to music that puts a smile on your face
I won't let you be down so you better start jumping
Cause you're making me ill
No one says when they grow up
They wanna be an addict well, I wouldn't have it another way
When things are going down and you wanna pick it up
Why don't you try and do what I do
I know some days you get dealt a bad hand
So listen to music that puts a smile on your face
I won't let you be down so you better start jumping
Cause you're making me ill, no one says when they grow up
They wanna be an addict well, I wouldn't have it another way
While your passing through my way give me some s-k-a
On my tonuue and in my veins, I wouldn't have it another way
I'm only telling you once I haven't told you before
That I can't stand people like you, thinking the way
I spend my time is all a shame, you say we are all the same
But when you look at us you say that could've been me
If I just followed my my dreams,
I'd rather do it now and regret it later,
Hey I wouldn't waste another day.
Why you tryin' to rule my world, see the tables slowly turn
You're the one whose wasting their time it's all a shame
But when you look at us you say that could've been me
If I just followed my my dreams,

Yep. I've said, "Damn, he's such an ass" and "I feel sorry for him" about House (and sometimes other characters) while watching the same episode. Also, "He's just selfish and doesn't care" and "He only made them think he doesn't care." The show, it plays with my emotions.
Also, after having fallen in love with Black Adder when I was younger, I find it hard to resist anything having to do with Hugh Laurie. Rowan Atkinson has let me down though, which is a damn shame because he can be awesome.

As a mathematician, "why?" is a question that should never pass your lips. Instead, there should be a large and mystifying chain of "if...then"s leading to a conclusion of so little interest that the general population will let you slide.

We offered to request the title from another Branch for her and recommended that she watch the film with her kids; unfortunately she doesn't want to watch it herself so she didn't request it.
and yes, it is good that she is looking for her kids; it would just be great if it was a family experience. But that is my bias.

not that lost. Their program got killed at the beginning of the season by the AD. It's most likely to recoup monies after buying out the contract of one of the football coaches.
With Oregon killing the program after this year and Stanford's floating in limbo, there will not be any Div. 1 Wrestling based in the west after this year.

ooo I should tell you of the dream I had last night. Came gently awake at 3:00 and had to whisper wow. Another random CBRer - Joe Rice this time - made a cameo but the tiger was the kool part. It was full of sensual detail sounds and physical sensations and metaphysical one s too. Again, too as I have felt many times lately, it felt like it was delivered all at once as a package, but to remember it my brain had to pull it out to a linear form. Conscious brains have their limitations.

Disappointingly, I don't remember. But the bit I do remember goes like this: I was coming back (?) to your place and I walked over some squelchy soggy grass and peered in nyour glass window/door but it was all dark. I didn't want anyone to think I was stalking you or to be alarmed so I left immediately and walked on the path that circumnavigated your complex - it was like townhouses. That's where the crunchy gravel thing happened. I wasd walking along and there was an opening and through it was the sea and the dawn was just starting. I was feeling like I was being watched all of a sudden - not in a malevolent way just observed. I made an exquisite leap through the opening towards the sea and the dawn. It was very sensual, it felt like a well executed dive but sustained so as to almost become flight... still aware that something was watching. In mid dive I turned and saw a small tiger face and I landed with him, we tumbled on the warm sand and splashed in the sea wrassling. He was about twice the size of our cat but half the size a real teenage tiger. He was incredibly sweet and cute and lovable and we played in our delight of each other until I realized that this was not a good idea. Young tigers have dangerous parents and I had to leave him. The opening I had flown or glided through was now up a hill of semi loose dusty soil - you know like it gets above the intertidal zone, dirty and rocky rather than clean sand. I got away and woke up

My friend's nephew is allergic too. When he hangs with us we always prep special meals for him or are just really careful when looking at food labels.
Do you go through some of that?
Not really. Most of the lunches I buy are peanut-free. This is the second time I've gotten a reaction from nuts, and we didn't know it - last time, the food server put Kung-Pao or some other food that had nuts in it into my food and my mother didn't know it until I was puking and my eyes were swollen.
This time, I didn't see the cashews until I ate the chicken. And I noticed my throat was somewhat constricted [knew it was a bad sign, because it usually does that when I've gotten into contact with peanuts of fish].
Pretty soon, my eyes swelled up, I wanted to puke and my stomach hurt, so I called my mom. She wanted me to bike home, but the office secretary and I protested [I bike a few miles every to and from school]. So, she said for them to call 911.
I balked, because they're usually shit-ass expensive, 'til they told me that my insurance covers the ride.
Mrrph... could hardly see and my nose was clogged to hell, and I had to remove the oxygen tube every few minutes to blow my nose.

I'd say soup dumpings at Shanghai Cafe, cupcakes at Magnolia, Lobster Rolls at Pearl Oyster, steak at Luger's (unlikely at this point), burgers at Dumont . . .and you said they weren't into sushi.

That's actually kind of what I meant. It's awesome that the background is way more thick than the rings, and comes forward, yet appears to create depth in space.
I just meant perspective-wise, it would be awesome to play that up even more and try to make the background, while coming forward more than the rings, appear to be going back in space as much as possible.

But your harem is way hotter, so it might not be such a bad way to go out.
I don't know. But then again, I'm oddly attracted to women that I believe can either kick my ass or verbally shred me a new one. If they were real, those types would be the former.
But lemme just say, those who hate masturbate.
Sorry you've had to endure all that, man.
Best wishes to you.

Day 2 of new job.
Very odd feeling. We're located in the old building that I started at in B&N last August. The same one I helped empty. And am now filling.
I go out for a smoke and sit on the curb and look across the street, wondering how busy we are over there. And wondering how long it's gonna be before I get all this 'we' utterly confused.
Lemme tell you, though, I am gonna be spending a small fortune here. I take daily walks around the store to familiarize myself with our inventory. We don't have a database to speak of since we're dealing exclusively with remainders, returns or last year's stock, so I've decided it's necessary to know the books intimately. Shouldn't be too hard; we're not gonna do any change-outs or best sellers or company-mandated displays, which means everything is where it's gonna stay.
But during my walks, I have discovered an absolute treasure trove of books. So far I've got 2 volumes of Pratchett's Digger series, a copy --signed -- of Monstrous Regiment, 2 volumes of Shakespearian Mysteries, a book on Jack Cole, a new book by James Finn Garner, and a half dozen paperbacks. The most expensive book is $5 and we get 30% off. I've got my eye on a good dozen Dummies and Idiot's guides; those are $6 each. Plus I've seen bunches of hard covers by Preston, Mercedes, Flint's 1632 series. And there's gotta be another dozen or better of the Mammoth Book anthologies that I wanna get hold of.
I've talked to the boss about what to do with the front tables near the registers, and we're gonna alternate between employee recommendations and weekly points-of-interest. Feels really good to have my opinion valued and asked for.

On the subject of Wodehouse:
I'd recommend Life with Jeeves (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Life-with-Jeeves/P-G-Wodehouse/e/9780140059021/?itm=10). A collection of 3 of the novels, most of which were adapted for the BBC series.
Once I get caught up on the Wooster and Jeeves books, I plan on seeking out the rest of his works. I've got the Plot that Thickened (http://www.amazon.com/plot-that-thickened-P-Wodehouse/dp/0816161860) (Pearls, Girls and Monty Bodkin (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Pearls-Girls-and-Monty-Bodkin/P-G-Wodehouse/e/9780880292788/?tabname=custreview)) and that was my first foray into Wodehouse.
Also found a copy of Scream for Jeeve (http://www.amazon.com/Scream-Jeeves-Peter-H-Cannon/dp/0940884607)s, a parody of Wooster and Jeeves combining Wodehouse, Lovecraft and Doyle. I can't wait to tuck into this one.
