There are some people who will help someone up when they fall in the middle of a mosh pit, but there are just as many who would rather just kick or stomp the person instead.

That's fup. When I used to go to gigs years ago, whenever there was a mosh pit, as soon as somebody fell there was always a dozen hands out ready to help them up.

Actually used to watch. Around the 2000's.

Rock, Kurt Angle, Mick Foley, and the duo who Reeked of Awesomeness, Edge and Christian.

I was watching around that time. Before Vince brought back that overrated hack Hogan and fucked everything up.

When I first saw you, I thought you were the most beautiful girl in the world, and now all I wanna do is show you my inner most self, but I'm afraid you'll reject me because you won't like what you see. Or that you'll see my scrotum, and see that it has a seam on it, and then you'll think I'm made up of two different guys that were sewn together, cause that's what I think happened.

*pssst* They're all like that.

I'm anticipating a grueling day at work.

I have to enter term paper scores into the gradebook.

And then . . . um . . . I figure I'll play Fallout on my laptop all day. It's study day for the students, so no classes and no finals, but I still have to go in for office hours, so I figure I may as well take advantage of the off day to really do something productive.

Oh, and there's a short meeting regarding finals and grading schedules. I have to be there for seven hours, and figure I'll have an hour of actual work to do.

Maybe I'll spend the day playing with Little Dent.

Redbelt.

I was checking the WE receipts and it's placed 10th. Now I'm not expecting it to beat Iron Man or Speed Racer, but 10th? Then I checked out the screen count and the movie got 1,400 screens while the other Sony movie, Maid of Honor, got over double that.

I'm not comprehending the reasoning behind that.

It's a Mamet film. They never open big, and it doesn't have a high budget to begin with. Not exactly rocket science. Movie proves popular, they open on more screens in further weeks. It doesn't, they don't take much of a bath on it.

Video game whining:

Coupla years back, Sarah and I were in a bad enough financial crisis that I had to sell some video games I really didn't want to sell. One of those was Marvel vs Capcom 2. So I decided this month to try and track down a copy. Problem is, it goes for over $100 online for Xbox and PS2 both(and that's used, not new). However, I found the Xbox version at a local store for half that(a friggin miracle, really). It is also on the backwards compatibility list for the 360. However, I get the game, and the damn thing has so many graphic glitches on the 360 it's almost unplayable. I am pissed.

In other news, Sarah's at her new job today for the the first day. Got my fingers crossed for her.

Because it may not have done as well in front of the test audiences?

Because they didn't make any advertising push for it in the last month?

Because its per screen total was $800 in it's first week in wide release vs. $3000 for Made of Honor 2nd week?

Royal, face it, it might be a decent movie, but it's not something the public is clamoring for. Frankly I think they might do quite well if they get $5M in their theater run and cover their budget. It could do decent numbers on the vids shelf.

The expansion: Enemy Territory. Played the basic set of maps, but in every one Axis was very well managed: rambo medics, top of the line engineers and spam-happy field opers. I had teammates with amoebas for brains...I swear one was trying to loot a stationary machine-gun.

I suspected hacks on a couple of them. Four-five bodyshots to a medic an he kills me with two and his health was 140 (from 150?) Yeah, right.

So...I collapsed at work Saturday.

It was the culmination of several hours' worth of nausea and dizziness and when I went to go get some water I just got to the hallway and my knees buckled from under me. Tried to make a go of the rest of the day, but when Dave (my boss) found out he told me to leave early and go see a doctor.

Three hours in the ER waiting room (urgent care had closed by then) and another three in the unit itself and I saw the only doctor in the place, apparently, and since my symptoms had long subsided she couldn't give me an exact diagnosis, but from my description said that it sounded like either an arrhythmia or a severe anxiety attack. One Xanax prescription and doctor's note later and I was discharged.

I may be crazy. Who knew?

Just got to work. For weeks we've had signs up telling folks we currently can't take donations...yup, three big boxes on the front steps, inside the office, a crate of them, on my desk a receipt from a STAFF PERSON WHO SHOULD KNOW BETTER accepting donations. That and the construction work isn't done, my desk cannot be seen for the piles of papers, Saturdays staff didn't put anything away, there are notes from staff asking me about stuff I cannot possibly get to until tomorrow or Wednesday because I have a feckin' busy week ahead.

We have to move the entire collection to off-site storage this summer.

I've read dozens of articles and have spoken with many "health experts" that would agree with you, and, in my opinion, any exercise is better than none at all.

Personally, I feel that swimming and running complement one another splendidly. But the older one gets, I'd go with swimming.

holy cats; that's a lot of material to move.

Fortunately, it's not our idea, so it's not entirely our problem.

The library is part of the capitol grounds complex. They've been upgrading the sprinkler system one floor of one building at a time. Now it's our turn. The shelves are packed in so tight and so high that they have to take it all out in order to install the new system. And they have to permanently lower all the shelves to accommodate the new system. To make up for the lost space, we're getting compact shelving. (For the rest of you -- the kind that rolls around and closes up.) And they have to pay for everything, including providing the labor to actually put everything in boxes and haul it out for three months or however long it takes. The staff, however, have to label said boxes. In two hour shifts; four people per shift. I think I signed up for three shifts per week.

I'm the opposite. I run 30-45k a week, but find bike riding awkward and can only just barely swim. The bigger problem, though, is that swimming means wearing a swim suit in a public place, and you couldn't pay me enough to do that on a regular basis.

Well, 2˝ hours downtown and all I know is that I'm being fucked by the system more than that woman with 18 kids. I'd write more but I'm still sorting through the junkpile of information that was regurgitated on me.

A couple quick notes:

1) because we're on public assistance and we're supposed to get child support, our cash grant is more like a loan. If the support were to suddenly start coming in, all we'd get is $50, less than half of the court ordered support; the state would take the rest. However, if we weren't due the child support, the cash grant would be exactly that.

2) the child support I pay is not counted as an expenditure for our budget on the cash grant. It is, however, counted towards our food stamps.

3) the only part of my income tax that should've been taken was the actual rebate, not the EIC. Rounding off, we should have gotten about $1500 for the past couple years and another $600 towards my arrears. It'll take me another 3+ to file the proper papers, hire an attorney and fight this in the courts to get that EIC credited back to us.

Oh, and I mentioned the employment assessment I have to attend next Monday. Except I can't cuz I'm working the new job. According to the notice I received, I have to send in the past 4 paystubs or a letter from my employer(s). The office of the dickweed was in the same building and 2 floors down from where I had to be today, so I figured I'd be efficient, stop in, inform him I won't make the appointment and let him get copies of my paystubs. I could be in and out in a matter of minutes.

Nope.

I was informed by the receptionist that I had to meet with Mr Dickweed right then and there. Even though I explained I had another appointment. I told her my intentions. She said no, if I had the paystubs I 'really had to' meet with him.

Once again, I said I had another appointment and I simply could not.

She handed me back the notice and told me:

'Then when you get home, give Mr Dickweed a call, let him know you can't make it and send him copies of the stubs.'

I still cannot wrap my head around that. I was standing directly in front of her with 6 paystubs in my fecking hand. Mr Dickweed was 3 desks over. But she found it more expedient to have me make a call, wait for his return call since I won't be around to receive it, make copies, mail them and wait for him to find them insufficient (as he's done numerous times in the past).

I remember the hassle in just moving out the collection at my branch when the carpeting went in...and then the bigger headache putting everything back. To do that with new shelving? *shudder*

Weird, I've heard reports of it glowing. There were cases of it growing in fast food playgrounds nearby [years ago, though] and the kids said it... glew. Or so they claimed.

I'm sorry, if you have a colony of E. Coli that's visible, glowing is the least of the bemusing things about it.

I'm the opposite. I run 30-45k a week, but find bike riding awkward and can only just barely swim. The bigger problem, though, is that swimming means wearing a swim suit in a public place, and you couldn't pay me enough to do that on a regular basis.

What type of bike riding? I haven't bought one of those road bikes, the one with the thin wheels and made for racing and the like, but mountain bikes and comfort bikes are easier to use. Cheaper for transit, too.

That looks great. The skin tone and shading look right. I really like how the sailboat mimics the shape of her hip a little bit. The texture, as always, is incredible.

My only critique is that the white cloth around her waste isn't behaving like cloth would. It's really too tight against her hip, until that flowing part on the right side. The flowing cloth just doesn't look very natural to me.

The funny thing about the texture, of course, is that I didn't work nearly as much on it as I usually do - kind of a minimalist approach for me, this time.

Well, without seeing a detail of it, I'd say it still looks pretty textured. And it still maintains good atmospheric perspective, which is really difficult to do on textured surfaces(for me anyway).

And for another thing I'm working with others on, I wrote an imititaton of Stephen Lynch covering 'Devil Went Down To Georgia', dedicated to Spider-Man. It's a continuation of something I've shown here before.

"Mephisto went down to New York, he was looking for a soul to steal.
He was in a bind, tired of being kicked in the behind, by every hero he tried to deal.
Then he came across this young hero whose aunt had just been shot.
And Mephisto jumped up on a rickety sofa and said 'Parker, let me tell you what.'

'I guess you know by now that I have magic powers of a kind.
And it's a steal, if you make this deal, I can turn back the hands of time.
Now you've put this in a higher being's hands, but give ol' Mephy his due.
I'll keep your aunt from the hearse-carriage, in exchange for your marriage, so what's that worth to you?'

The hero said, 'My name is Spider-Man, and it might be bad,
but I'll take your bet, because I'm full of regret, and this is the worst day I've ever had!'

Spidey, think about this choice! It's really not all right,
Because Mephisto's more of a cosmic villain, he'll screw you over pretty tight.
And if you deal your aunt will be well and alive,
but it means you'll end up losing your wife!

'Well now, lets start this!', Mephisto said.
As fire flew from his fingertips as he prepared to mess with everyone's heads.
'I need the consent of lovely Mary Jane if I'm to do this fling.'
And Mary Jane nodded her head and said, 'Sure, if you'll just do one thing...' "

*Extended guitar play here*

"When Mephisto finished, no one knew Spidey's true identity or intent,
Just like the old days, people screamed at him 'you're a menace!' or to 'get bent.'
Civil War hadn't affected him, nor it's grisly outcome,
Aunt May was alive, MJ was gone, and Petey was still living at home!"
