It can also stop a bullet.
If only Cap had been interested in reading his own stuff, he'd be alive today.
I still can't believe the death of Captain America was treated as such a non event. I didn't even know he was dead, or how he died until weeks later when someone who doesn't even really read comics asked me about it.
I still don't know all that much about it since I don't read the Captain America title.

Umm... after he died they did a series of books about the Marvel Universe reacting to the death. The Avengers were effected (both of the titles). If you read any comic related to Cap you'd have gotten the story. Or went on the internet and had your homepage a news site. Or saw a newspaper. Or listened to those annoying talk radio bastards, although I don't reccomend it.

I think you were just under a rock at the time.
I couldn't stop hearing about it. The forums could speak of nothing else. Plus non-comic news reported it everywhere it seemed. Dozens of non-comic reading friends asking about it. Etcetera.

I must have been under a rock at the time, because I really don't remember hearing much about it at all. I do remember a couple of "reaction to his death" stories, but not many.
I know I was still reading Cap related comics at the time, like Avengers, but I still didn't know he was dead until a few weeks after.

Just finished Gilmore Girls season 2.
Pretty much the opposite ending from season one.
I keep wondering why Rory can't see what a complete creep Jess is, or at least has been so far. Sure, he's smart and reads a lot, good qualities for a bookworm like Rorry, but he's also surly, sarcastic, openly disrespectful towards Lorelai, Luke, and Dean, and pretty much everyone else other than Rory, skips school and starts fights and generally cares nothing about getting any kind of education, and stole her bracelet knowing it would make Dean mad and get her in hot water in her relationship, demonstrating that, at least at that point, he cares more about irritating Dean than taking Rory's feelings into account.
Luke and Lorelai are both right about what they thought would happen; Rory is a good influence on Jess, as Luke hoped, and Jess is a very bad influence on Rory, as Lorelai feared he would be.
Fun tidbit on the extras: In the French translation of Gilmore Girls, Michele is Italian.
If you're not a Gilmore Girls afficianado, please ignore the above fangirl gushing.

Oh and also:
Christopher tells Lorelai he wants to be in her life again, try to build something together. He gets a phone call. His ex-girlfriend is pregnant. He immediately dumps Lorelai and the plans they were making and takes off to see his ex-girlfriend, not even staying for Suki's wedding or having the guts to tell Rory himself. Hello, your girlfriend isn't in labor, she's pregnant. She isn't going to get more pregnant if you stay for the wedding and talk to your daughter. "I'm pregnant" isn't an emergency for which you have to dash off in the middle of a wedding.

That would be ignoring the two years worth of intrigue, black ops, espionage, and awesomeness that led up to the actual event. It was/is quite possibly Marvel's best monthly book.

The gooder thoughts are generally desplaced after the comments and seem offensive only in retrospect. When someone plans to be offensive, the chances are decent that getting a laugh overrides the point of the statements. So yes. It's more likely to be crap when the author feels the need to warn everyone they're "being real".

At this point, Rory seems more like Richard than any of the others in her family, and Lorelai and Christopher are a lot alike in terms of personality. What Christopher did at the end there is quite similar to what Lorelai did to Max near the beginning of season 2.

I admitted that I didn't know much about what really even happened, but that I thought that his actual death(being shot by a sniper while being taken into custody, instead of say, doing something heroic) was pretty lame.
But, like I said, I don't know the whole story. It could be the most awesome death ever, but at face value seemed like a pretty lackluster death.

I know. I was just saying that after all Cap has been through and all of the colossal challenges he's overcome, just seemed like a weak way for him to be taken out.
Like if Superman was being hauled off in kryptonite handcuffs and was shot to death.
I was more trying to ask what really happened that was such a big deal, since apparently I missed all of the hype surrounding it. Because just being picked off by a sniper really is a pretty lame death for a superhero. That's all I was saying.

I accept that he's dead. This is, however, superhero comics, where dead is generally a temporary condition. It's somewhat like being seriously injured in real life. Sure it's a setback, and it'll take some time to fully recover, but it's not like it's permanent.
And with that, bedtime.

Apollo made it through the night. Through a few nights now. I've set up a little bed out of an old plastic container and 2" of shavings on the bottom, and that's officially her 'sanctuary'. Her breathing isn't labored anymore and she's not 'chirping' in pain.
She ate a bit yesterday; tonite she gorged. Finished an entire dish of seed. She got a cracker for treat, too (nice cliche, bird).
Her legs are pretty much useless right now; absolutely no strength although she can open and close her talons. I pick her up out of her bed so she can eat and she pulls herself around on the comforter. It's not quite as pathetic as it sounds.
Yes it is.
I've got her sleeping next to my bed on the floor so she doesn't fall out and hurt herself more. Momma's gonna make her a little pillow to rest on when she's sitting with me. My boss at the new store even told me to bring her in to work if it'll make me more comfortable.
*whew*

*whew*
I think she's gonna make it.
Good luck. Sounds good.
And Good Night, I'm off to watch telly.

History won't care at all
Make the bed, light the light
Lady mercy won't be home tonight
Yeah, you don't waste no time at all
Don't hear the bell but you answer the call
It comes to you as to us all
Hey, we're just waiting
For the hammer to fall - yeah
Oh every night, and every day
A little piece of you is falling away
But lift your face, the western way, baby
Build your muscles as your body decays
Yeah, toe your line and play their game
Yeah, let the anaesthetic cover it all
Till one day they call your name
You know it's time for the hammer to fall - yeah
Rich or poor or famous for
Your truth it's all the same - oh no - oh no
Oh lock your door but rain is pouring
Through your window pane - oh no - yeah
Baby now your struggle's all vain
Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
For we who grew up tall and proud
In the shadow of the mushroom cloud
Convinced our voices can't be heard
We just wanna scream it louder and louder and louder
What the hell we fighting for ?
Ah, just surrender and it won't hurt at all
You just got time to say your prayers
Eh, while you're waiting for the hammer to hammer to fall
Hey, yes, it's starting to fall eh, hammer, you know
Yeah, hammer to fall, wooh, ah, hey, eh woowoo, ha eh hammer

We get ours Wednesday evening, do the break up for regular orders and have the stuff out on the shelves by Thursday morning.
This week though, the courier decided he didn't want to deliver our stock. He dropped everything off at our other store, but decided that, because he lives just around the corner, what he'll do is drop the stuff off there, head home and maybe deliver the city's stuff tomorrow, maybe.

When you work on a board and then try to type up everything you've done at 6 am before going to bed, mistakes can be made.
Last night, I recorded all the information about my variables I'd solved for, but neglected to note what variable meant what.
I needed a lot and was just using greek letters, and going in order, skipping the ones I found too hard to write. So I think I've reconstructed what I had, but my notes include an eta, which doesn't quite fit. Conjecture is that at some point over the night, nu became eta.
Also, I realise I used epsilon, which is a mistake because there's a q in the equations and I can't tell them apart the way I write them.
Similar problem with 5 and b. Fortunately I never have to write down 5, and context will usually tell me if the thing that looks like a 5 is a b or an s.

Also, disturbing story of the moment; Had to stop at Wal-Mart over the weekend, ended up needing to use the men's room. I head to the urinal, and from a stall I hear heavy breathing like a "phh phh phh phh" sound, then a groan of "UHHH OHH NOOOO!" followed by more heavy breathing. I'm quite perturbed, but my shoe needed tied, so I zipped up, and figured I could get my shoe tied and gone before this weirdo got out of the stall.

We had summer basketball signups this past Saturday.
8 of the girls who played for me this winter on the champion Lady Vols signed up for summer league.
The mother of two of the girls said that her daughters asked her if they had to go to Selection Day on May 24th. She told them of course they did. They said to her, "But if we do good the other coaches will see us...and we want to play for Jay!"
That prompted the guy who was working the signups with me to laugh and say "Jay, you're brainwashing them!"
I laughed back and said that it was coach loyalty.
And they weren't the only ones to say something like that to me on the day. There's 16 girls who have made it known that they want to play for me.
Oh and the guy who made the comment about the brainwashing is also my assistant coach for both the girls and boys teams. My other assistant coach for the girls is Cathryn who was the starting center for my girls team last summer.
