I don't know if anyone here other than I watch the TV show Lost but last night, this comic played a role in a very interesting scene...

When I first saw the cover, I thought it was a prop made for the show since the titles of the stories fit into Lost's storylines so well. I didn't realize until today that it's a real comic.
Anyway, I thought it was interesting.

Lost is my favourite tv show Andy... and I loved it when that Atlas cover showed up last night. I figured it had to be real because Mystery Tales was a genuine title. And why fake it when you have the real thing?
This means nothing to the non-Lost watchers, but it almost looked like Locke was supposed to choose that comic from the array of objects presented. When he piicked the old knife over the Mystery Tales it was as though he failed. Damn... I would have chosen the comic!!
Glad you posted on this!

It looks like the city on the cover is floating on a cloud, so I wonder if it has something to do with Locke being told that he has to move the island.

It's kind of hard to sum up in a single post, but basically it's about the survivors of an airplane crash on a mysterious island. The show, now in its 4th season, is one big mystery with heavy doses of fantasy and sci-fi thrown in for good measure. It sort of has its own mythology and there are clues sprinkled about each of the episodes with references to everything from scientists and mathematicians to the Twilight Zone to baseball to yes... comics. I highly recommend renting the DVDs and seeing if it suits your fancy.

I should have known it was the real McCoy - nothing is ever put in the show by accident. I read today that the 3 items scene is similar to how the Dalai Lama is chosen. You're supposed to pick the three items that were yours in a previous life. And, yes, I would have picked the comic too. Especially since I read today it's some of Ditko's earliest work.

I think you're right, but I also know if I think about the intricacies of the show too much my brain starts to hurt. I'm just enjoying the ride.
And as you guys probably know already, there have been a number of comic writers on the Lost staff since the show premiered including Jeph Loeb, Paul Dini and Brian K. Vaughan.

Kirk, it's even easier than that to get into Lost. I stopped watching Lost about two-thirds of the way through Season 2 because I missed a couple episodes and thought that would ruin things for me.
I just realized a couple months ago that all the episodes are on abc.com. I've watched all the episodes I've missed so now I'm up-to-date and watching the current episodes on tv.

Good call - I didn't realize they had past seasons online.

Hi,
I'm totally new to the world of comics. As a matter of fact i don't read much of them. However, as i was cleaning up my place, I found a the 7th issue of Son of Satan 'Mirror of judgement' 1976. It's not in perfect shape but it's good. And i was wondering if it's worth anything nowadays. thank you.

Much depends on condition, but if you sell the issue in Very Good to Fine + condition on ebay, I'd be optimistic about netting $5.00 for it, and realistic about getting $1.00 or $2.00 (if indeed any bids at all). If its Near Mint and you are lucky enough to find some collector who is both zealous over Son of Satan (not exactly a standout series... the earlier Marvel Spotlight run of the character was much better) and insists on the very best condition you may get a couple more bucks. Check out completed sales history on ebay.
But I don't want to further derail Kan-Man's great thread he has going here.

On the contrary, do you think Son of Satan was some kind of Walt reference?
