View Full Version : Games you like that nobody remembers

Ever have a game you like that you know nobody even remembers. There's pretty much no hope of a sequel or even a remake, but even so you like it just the same.
For my it's an old N64 game called Mischief Makers. That game was all kinds of fun. At the time I could only rent it and never got to beat it. Even later when I've tried to emulate it, I always run in into trouble, either it runs too dang slow, or in one case, in a level where you're supposed to run away from a boulder, an emulation glitch made the boulder not appear.
So what are some old game that you guy like that no one remembers.

For a second I thought you said Outpost, a crappy space colony sim for Sierra. Oh well, one of these days I might find another fan of that perfectly imperfect game

Amazing voxely graphics and fantastic music, what's not to love? For a second I thought you said Outpost, a crappy space colony sim for Sierra. Oh well, one of these days I might find another fan of that perfectly imperfect game Yes Outpost was a crappy space colony sim, but I seem to remember it being at least slightly entertaining.
Wasn't there an Outpost 2 as well, or did I just imagine that?

The Bushido Blade series and the Tobal series for Playstation.
It's a shame the creators of these two great series' completely forgot about them, because they were better than their more popular rivals at the time.
IMO
Tobal no.2 > Tekken 1-3, Any MK, Ehrgeiz, Rival Schools, etc.
and
Bushido Blade 1 & 2 >>>>>> Soul Blade/Edge.

I would love to see a re-done Bushido Blade game. That was such a fun game.
Killer Instinct is also one that I thought was cool. The whole ridiculous amounts of combos were so fun. Especially with Cinder.

The Sega CD gets a lot of s*** and rightfully so, but there were a few decent game for it.
One of them was Wild Woody (Tied with Dynamite Headdy for the title of most unintentionally inappropriate name for a Sega game.) which was a pretty decent platform about a magical pencil whose powers revolved around drawing helpful objects and erasing enemies and obstacles. Then there was Popful Mail, brought to the States by the late great Working Designs, it was an above-average (especially by Sega CD standards) action-rpg with a wacky, humorous storyline.
Speaking of action-rpgs with humorous storylines, Landstalker was another great game now forgotten.
On the Saturn there were a few good games, most notably for me Three Dirty Dwarves.

I remember having to go like eight levels down in the sewers to properly dispose of the gun.
There was another game from the same developer, I think. It was a fantasy adventure. I think it was called Shadowgate, or something similar.

I can't remember if I got the title right, but Jedi Knights II. It was where you could play in first person mode or third person mode. You could do all kinds of cool stuff like force pull and push, force jump, you had access to all these weapons as well as the lightsabre.
Such an awesome game.

Especially the first release of the game, before Nintendo removed a scene where you microwave Ed's hamster and Ed kills you.
IIRC, that was the only way to die in the game aside from blowing up the house.

Lemmings. I don't know if many people remember it, but it was great fun.
I'd say a lot of people remember that one. Still, great game though. The first one anyway. The sequel introduced all these Lemmings tribes each with different abilities and it just made the whole thing too complicated.
Simplicity is best with puzzle games.

Sorry to go Scanners on you, but my college roommate and I played this together. And yes, it did require both of us to beat it.
My pick is WinBack for the N64. Awesome counter-terrorist game with a unique shooting style. And though none of my friends liked it, I thought the multiplayer was awesome. It actually required stealth and made me feel like a ninja.

Playstation's Nightmare Creature's and it's sequel.
NC:1 - Backstory -
The Player either play's as Ignatius Blackward or Nadia Franciscus, who are both hunting the deranged Adam Crowley down. Adam Crowley worship's "The Brotherhood of Hecate", and has released Demon's of all shape's and size's all over London. [this game take's place in the 19th century, London]. Player's must slay and mutilate whatever get's in their way, and find a way to restore peace to the community. This is'nt easy, however, because Adam Crowley become's a huge, deranged demonic freak and become's the last boss of the game.
NC:2 - Backstory -
It's 1934, and Player's play as Herbert Wallace, a tortured and disturbed test subject Adam Crowley kept locked away for year's. After breaking free from your prison, and hunt down a new, more monstrous breed of Demon's, which appear from nowhere after a hospital explode's and crumble's. It's up to you to defeat the evil that stalked the dark street's of London all those year's ago...
Awesome game's.

I remember Deja Vu (still have a copy for my old NES. cool game). Also remember Shadowgate and Uninvited. I liked Univented alot, but I could never find it in stores back in the day. Only ever got to rent it. If any of those three games came onto the Wii Virtual Console, I'd get them.
Other cool games you don't hear alot about:
Out of this World, Flashback, Earthbound, Nightshade, Rescue, and Earthworm Jim.
Also: there was a cool PS1 game called Blasto. Neat game.
As far as PC games go, I always liked Space Quest & Kings Quest!

I loved that game too. If I didn't have Vista 64-bit I'd have it on my laptop... It was a lot better if you played with the settings though -- cutting limbs off stormtroopers. I had a spawn Mara Jade command mapped to a key -- someone took the skin and voice samples from another Star Wars game.

General Chaos on the Genesis. A quasi RTS, where you can direct a squad of five, or directly control two commadoes that you switch between. Not very deep, but loads of fun.
