Can anyone tell me about the Trial of the Flash article in Back Issue magazine 28? I didn't know it was due out this week and missed it!
Please give me some info into the article!
Was it good?
Who was interviewed in it? And what did they say about this classic storyline?
I'm a big Flash fan and want to know, because I've been waiting eagerly for this issue and then missed it. Dang it!
(also, the guy who wrote it is from my hometown)
Thanks in advance.

I've got the issue, but haven't read the article because I haven't read the original comics. It features quite a few comments by Cary Bates & some briefer recollections by Carmine Infantino (who says he didn't much like the storyline) & editor Ernie Colon (who did).

Cool. The guy who wrote it lives in my hometown and we shop at the same comic store. I didn't know it was coming out so soon, because I really hadn't been keeping a keen eye open for it. My shop owner is on vacation (she came in for Wednesday's comics, then left for vacation and will be back next Wednesday), so I guess I'll have to wait or try to find it elsewhere.
Thanks for the tips. I want to read what Bates has to say about the storyline.

I didn't know Ernie Colon was ever an editor.

I didn't know Ernie Colon was ever an editor.

That was my initial reaction, too, but I thought it might've been common knowledge to anyone who was paying attention during the '80s (which I most certainly was not) ...

Colon was an editor for DC for one year. I assume that he signed a single contract and then they parted. During that time he edited Arion, Blackhawk, Flash, Green Lantern & Wonder Woman.

Yeah ... In the interview (I'm at work & can't reference it right now), he says something like how he was Flash editor for 1 year, 2 weeks & 5 days, or something to that effect.

Not Gene Colan, is it?

Not unless he spells his name "Ernie Colon."

It was Ernie's idea that the Flash kill someone and then go on trial for manslaughter.

So I guess you Flash fans will also be buying The Flash Companion (http://twomorrows.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=660&zenid=974a570941d3ebd692f5ac3862e2319b)? Having seen the inside of the book, I've gotta say, it's got everything a Flash fan could want - including Cary Bates!

I bought the .pdf version the other night and ended up reading the entire magazine until about 3 am. The Flash article was very detailed, and covered the Trial "years" very well. I lived through the trial, myself. Bought every issue, up until the bitter end.

I hadn't forgotten that Barry had a new face, but seems everyone today has (since everytime his return is mentioned, someone posts about his "classic" flattop, which hadn't been seen in years decades anyway). Anyway, there is a lot of insight into the story from everyone involved. If you you missed the issue on the newstand, pick up the digital download from Twomorrows (which includes color pages).

I picked it up mostly for the article on the Rampaging Hulk magazine. Loved the early run on that black and white series; I see it might get the Essential treatment this year (yea). Oh, and there's a great Ron Wilson interview, too :)
