I don't understand all the hate for this man, what am I missing?

It seem's to me comic fans are just never satisfied.

I remember in 99 when everyone bitched and moaned about Bill Jemas being the guy running the show and how he tried to stop Marvel from making comics.period. He wanted Marvel to become like disney, toys and movies and shirt, no comics.

Then he focused on a new line of comics called the ultimate universe and everyone bitched that they werent focusing enough in the normal U (screw that 616 term)

Now here we are, years later, the focal point of Marvel is the normal U and these huge stories full of great writing and art are in place and all I hear is blah blah blha Joe Q sucks, I hate him.

Guy at the comic shop today claimed to not buy a book from marvel in "over 10 years and wouldnt till Joe Q was gone"

Why?

Why let one person kill the whole line? Why let one person affect a story being told BY A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PERSON?

That'd be like saying " Im not reading DC again till they go back to their old logo'.

Just sick of the Marvel and Joe Q bashing. They obviously own the market share FOR A REASON.

Please inform me what's with all the hate, I really want to know why so many people hate Joe Q.

And this hate was around WAAAAAY before brand new day, I'll be the first to tell you I dropped Spider-man after one more day, hey, horrible story, followed by 70's nostalgia, it's terrible, down right terrible. But hey, I can't hate a guy for one bad idea. Let's be honest, Spider-Man needed SOMETHING, this wasn't it, but at least they tried.

I just want to say Thank you to Joe Q, for making Marvel exciting. It's nice to see a story doesn't have a big happy ending everytime, it's nice to see things like civil war effecting the universe longer than the 7 issues, the arc runs.

I don't get why people complain. The place was boring before civil war and wwh, and invasion. It's nice seeing stories not be forgotten about, everyone complained about continuity, now we get it and still, people complain. The man has an impossible job. My hat's off to him.

I don't think anybody hates him per say, I just think they hate the direction he has steered the Marvel Universe in since he has been EIC.

I like that he is EIC, because he has brought in legendary creators who swore to never work for Marvel again. He has vast friendships and connections within the industry, and it helps Marvel out tremendously when it comes to getting top notch writers and artists on Marvel comic books. Marvel needs an EIC who has the connections, and Joey Q has the best connections in the industry.

This will not end well.Probably not, no.

On the other hand, if everyone stays civil and respectful of each others' point of view, recognizing that differing tastes are not in some way incorrect . . . it's still probably not going to end well.

But what the hell, let's give it a shot.

Okay. Hey, mod approval never hurts.

For me, I think it is that, in the immortal words of President Truman, the buck stops here. Well, over there, on Joe Q's desk. When something fails, or does not live up to expectations, it is his fault. The creative team might absorb some of the blame, certainly, but Joe signs the paychecks.

I don't blame him, of course. I liked OMD and BND.

I had no problems with him until he killed Spiderman.

As the EiC of Marvel, he's made a lot of decisions about the directions of the comics being published. While I don't think every decision he has made has been great, I think that he has done an overall good job.

Joe Q has had some really bad ideas. To be fair, the overall direction of the Marvel Universe is good (he isn't Dan DiDio after all). But he has had some bad moves; OMD/BND, too much leeway with creative teams, Chuck Austen, Hudlin on Black Panther, etc.

I personally don't have a problem with him. OMD and Ghost Rider Revelations was horrific and I think Marvel has a way of hyping up generic crap like NA and Si but other then that...Marvels pretty good these days.

Why DON'T people bash him? Apologism as a reaction to widespread disapproval is so annoying...I think really started to despise him after reading an interview he gave where he basically stated that back in the 80's all there was was Moore/Miller/Gaiman, but now he has a slew of writers like that. I didn't know if I should be more pissed off at him more for dismissing people like Claremont, Gruenwald, Gerber, Byrne, the Simonsons, Wolfman etc. as if they were second-rate or for acting like Bendis and Millar are even in Alan Moore or Frank Miller's league. But then most of Quesada's interviews tend to instill the desire to kick him in the cock...
