I don't understand why he gets so much slack. As far as I'm concerned he is the best artist in comics today. His Spawn work was mindblowing. Anyone like him and know what he's doing next?

Ive always liked his artwork alot. My only negative on him is that he cant do a regular monthly book. He will be on a book and do maybe 2-3 issues and then someone else will be the artist. I wish he could handle a monthly book but I think at his pace he is better suited to a small mini series or a one shot.

I have always enjoyed his art as well. I would like to see him on a consistent title. He did pretty good on Blackwulf and Dreadstar.

I like his stuff, and he's currently working on a Venom mini-series for Marvel.

And there's still no news about it except a Venom picture. Any chance it's cancelled?

It's still coming out. Scroll down on Tom Brevoort's blog I'm linking, and you can view a preview page from Angel Medina's Venom: Dark Origin #1 mini.

I think his art is really great. I wonder what this mini is about, and why we don't see anywhere else...

Angel's art doesn't really fit the superhero stuff IMO and if he does do a superhero book it has to be something like maybe a horror or MAX type of book.
It's too weird and distorted for my tastes whereas it does fit into the Image line of books like the Sam and Twitch book he did where that art style is the norm. You can easily see that Angel's art is based off of the Todd McFarlane/Greg Capullo's styles.

It's funny cause I discovered an old Spider-Man issue where he is doing the art and it's really nothing like the latest Sensational Spider-Man. I have come to the conclusion that anyone who is working on Spawn, gets his curse, so his art style is like McFarlane's

Which issue is this? I'd like to comare his previous artwork to his current artwork.
The only issues I can remember seeing his work at is the Abominations mini.

just a minute to check...
Amazing Spider-Man #406. First appearance of Lady Octopus (who cares?). There are some spots where you can say it's him, but things are different. He HAS an inker but I doubt it played so much a difference, if you notice.

From that you could argue he got better by immitating mcfarlane. Still i like his art even the one posted above just not as much as his later work. Loved his art in the psycho circus comic.

That's what my LCS owner was talking about the other day. He remembers Medina from his early works and he did not like him, but then he saw Psycho Circus.

I really liked his early stuff in Warlock and the Infinity Watch, inked by the great Terry Austin....I think the inker makes a lot of difference on his work.
