This series is really turning up the heat. Hopefully, people hop back on board of this thing with good word of mouth and future crossovers.

In this issue there is some great character interaction and especially placing emphasis on what Wondra represents to the team. I thought it was explained pretty well how are presence effects the others due to her experience. Also some good talking scenes with Awol Avengers Initiatives team Counter force with ex New Warriors Vance and Rage saying how they have been lackeys for the initiative too much and nothing good comes with it. So Night Thrasher takes the team out on a mission to take out Machinesmith who is creating some new techno organic virus. Blahh i'm tired of that, but there are a lot of cool fight scenes.

Also Night Thrasher is shown being secretive again abandoning the New Warriors and checking out computers. Sophia has a run in with a protester that thinks the New Warriors are bad and gets mad. The issue ends with the team getting split up in battle with the Machinesmith. Somewhat shady behavior from Bandit who seemingly is abandoning part of the team. He probably has some secret plan that will save the day next issue. My biggest complaint is the Diablo tease we had last issue and he is nowhere in sight this issue. The writer is handling the very large cast well and even though it is Bandit Thrasher I am still interested in seeing what he is being all secretive about.

Ya know, I have to question the wisdom of the team tackling a machine controlling villain, given the fact that all their abilities are tech based. Night Thrasher seems to be the only one that's dangerous without tech.

i'm wondering how Night Thrasher's intelligence was so poor that they didn't know that Machinesmith was a robot now? he's been one since the early 90's (at least).

P.S. i like Kevin Grevioux but really really hate Bandit.

Best part I liked about this issue was Thrash used a thumb drive instead of a CD like I've seen elsewhere. Modernized, yea!

Was good all in all.

This issue was still only "okay" again if you ask me.

You know what really grinds me gears?
That i still can't see the difference between Jubilee and Stacy X without actualy reading the dialoges (okay you always have to read the dialoges, but if they wouldn't talk i couldn't make out who is who).
They have the same phyisical apearance, hair color, the skin color and the eyes look alike too. Shouldn't Jubs have a more lighter skin tone?

Further confusing is that Stacy has a hairstyle i normaly have ascociated with Jubilee, while Jubilee has a longer hairstyle i can't remember having in her X-men time.
And don't come me with the breast size of Jubilee, i really hope other artist might make them small again, because thats really a bit unnatural for Jubs to have that size.
Which doesn't mean i want to the current artist to go away all of a sudden. Last time they used a fill in artist it only got worse.

However all in all it wasn't that bad of an issue, but not overly intresting either.

The problem is that the whole storys is so much circling around Nightrasher and how everybody trust or don't trust him, that Angel, Beak, Stacy X, Radian and Redneck are still largely unexplored.
By the way i only don't name Sofia, Jono and Jubilee because they got some development from theire X-team times left which they can gwan on for a while.

See! I can't even remember theire new codenames because i don't feel the need to bother about it.

You know what i would really like to see? If instand of all the Nightrasher mistery talk and after training dialoges (which seems to be the main source of team interaction), that they would make a few solo issue in which the lesser used character star alone for a while.
For example an arc which shows them pairing up for patrols, each issue plays in the same night and in the end they get connected in some way.

For example Radian and Redneck with the two beginning to talk about theire time during Xaviers, the time in youth prison, Tatoos burial and Radians grief about, how they had to keep it a secret from anyone else outside the warriors and in the end Redneck stops Radian from killing a criminal after that one made a joke about Tatoos death. Which would also serve to give Tatoo some post mortem personality (by remarking how she thought about thing, or something like this).

Another one could be Stacy X aka. Ripcord and Jono make a short visit in a redlight district. Ripcord beats up a pimp, who was about to ruin the face of his newest girl (because she freaked out on her first costumer and ran away) with a knife, after some talk they bring her back to her mother (which the girl ran away from after an big argument, the girl was the actual wrong one but she was to emberassed to go home and had to live on the street for some weeks).

After they brought her home, Jone and Ripcord have some finishing dialoge which mirrors her interview with Sally Floyd (that when she was a mutant it was just a game for her, but after M-Day and how she had to really do it, she learned how hard life can really be and that she now takes the whole superheroing stuff seriously).

This way readers who aren't regular X-men fans can finaly learn about this minor team members and maybe finaly start caring about them.

Last thing, did anyone else caught the COLBERT '08, poster in the diner scene?

Can someone post a detailed summary?

Again, it never ceases to amaze me how often someone says this on page 1 of a drwho summary.

The main plot points he missed include:

-More teasing that the old New Warriors whom are in the Initiative are going to go AWOL and form their own team. Oh yeah, Sally Floyd and just comes out and further spells out the imagery from a few issues back... that Ultra Girl's Junior Guardsmen look like Hitler Youth.
-Tempest tinkers w/ her ice powers, and to test them out, starts a snowball fight. It was more fun when Bobby Drake did it in 1963 and 1964.
-After Jubilee apologizes to the team for kind of being distant, Redneck tells her to bugger off, regardless. Jubes does, but Stacy X goes and consoles her... it's a mildly... is... Stacy bisexual...? moment. Could just be the artist.
-During the fight with Machinesmith, things get really ugly when Phaser's (formerly Radian's) well, Phaser gets absorbed by Machinesmith, and he starts using it against the New Warriors.
-And yeah, while the team tangles w/ Machinesmith, Night Thrasher screws with the supercomputers in his place. Tough to say what he's downloading, or why he doesn't upload a virus why he's done, though.
-At the end of the issue, Machinesmith causes a cave-in that splits the team in half. Night Thrasher's got a passed out Ripcord (Stacy X), and he even TAZERS HIS TEAMMATE, Blackwing (Beak) to stop him from trying to dig his way back in to help the rest. including his wife. Machinesmith has Wondra (Jubilee), Decibel (Chamber), Tempest (Angel Salvatore), Phaser (Radian), and Skybolt (Redneck) left to toy with in an enclosed space.

-Oh yeah, Sofia deals with Kat Farrell, who's trying to rival Sally Floyd in journalistic hoo-hoo factor.

LOL and Sofia is waitressing during all of this????

It still seems fun, I guess, but on the surface New Warriors always does.

It has picked up the previous two issues so hopefully I like this when I pick it up.

Hey What about Beak's time in the Exiles or Stacy X moments in Uncanny X-men, don't they count for a little character development ? :frown:

Still the entire issue plot still interest me because even I'm curious about Nightthrasher's attitude towards his teammates.

If that team repowered, It'd be hot.
It just hit me that I'm quite fond of most of these characters original incarnations.

I'm interested on one thing though.
How do Decibel's powers difffer from Songbird's?

They don't. Only real difference is that her sonic stuff is pink and Jono's isn't.

I do find it odd though, that Jono seems to be able to do everything Songbird can, yet lacks the enhanced vocal cords that Songbird has.

^lol so true, so true. It *was* nice to see him in a black leather jacket again.

I think the reason Sophia was made to sit out the fight with M.smith was b/c there's just too many characters & its hard to have fight scenes with so many to keep track off. They need to cut a few guys out, Id cut Radian, Skybolt and Ripcord (she's nothing like the Stacy I remembered anyway).

One criticism Im not in agreement with though is Stacy & Jubes being hard to tell apart. I did have a bit of trouble in the beginning but in this last issue Medina made sure to give Jubes a distinctive hairstyle with the hair sticks to tell her apart from Ripcord. So theyre aware of the problem, but I think what they should really do is just make part of Ripcord's hair a different color, like give her red or blue bangs ...

Another thing- Jono's constant mates & luvs. Wow is that getting annoying. And the awkwardness of the line- "All's fair in love and snow fights luv."
Please Kevin make it stop.

Dialog so bad! "I always wanted to know the freezing point of metal?" Are you kidding me?

And wait, isn't Kat Farrell supposed to be a good reporter? OK, so Sally Floyd is terrible, but what the hell is with Kat totally leading Sofia through the interview?

For that matter, OK, Sally is a terrible reporter, but the Hitler Youth comparison? WTF?!?! Even worse, other than they are both groups of young people those pictures looked nothing alike!!! Hey, check this out.

Decibel *almost* looked as cool as he did when he was Chamber.

Also, I never had a problem with it before--mainly because I'm very familiar with all of these characters--yet I have to agree that Angel, Ripcord, and Jubilee looked waaaay too similar here.

Otherwise, this was neither a terrible or awesome issue. I was hoping for more. The Machinesmith fight was fun though so I'm hoping this'll pick up.

I I think the shouting of "any means necessary" in support of a corrupt government is where the comparison comes in, The fact that they were established a a propaganda device helps too. The kids are being used to promote a ruthless agenda. and their motto extols ruthlessness.

He gave them all credit cards, why would you doubt he'd give them money? Beak and Angel, as mentioned, are raising six kids, and don't work. She is choosing to live away from base, she doesn't have to keep paying bills. It is a reasonable choice, but it is clear that Night Thrasher is a very generous benefactor to these kids in terms of money and goods (although he does get their service and trust in return).

i thought this issue was better than the past issues of this new book. the action is picking up and is hope fully going to keep a good pace of story and action.
i know this has nothing to do with the current issue. but i hope counter-force and the new warriors fight each other. i also hope they show the whole counter-force group and not just the old new warriors members. like the scarlet spiders
