In “Thor: Ages of Thunder,” in stores now, Matt Fraction and Patrick Zircher offer readers a sweeping, epic tale of the Thunder God’s violent past, and CBR spoke with both creators about the one-shot.

I really enjoyed the first issue. Zircher gives us some great action and Fraction manages to neatly incorporate an actual myth into Thor's established backstory.

And the idea of conflating Freya and Idunn with the Enchantress is a great one.

Dumb question perhaps here, but it's made me wonder for years now -- when, in Earthly time, do those old adventures in Asgard before Thor became Donald Blake (Tales of Asgard, Raven Banner, etc.) actually take place? Would it be roughly when the Vikings were worshipping them circa 900 AD, or later on after that period had passed, or in some way before the dawn of humanity altogether? And how do multiple Ragnaroks affect it all?

The duo loved working together on Thor so much that they’re doing it again. Their next collaboration, “Thor: Ages of Thunder-Reign in Blood” is in stores June 25, and Zircher promises he and Fraction are doing their best to make the story a worthy follow up to the first “Ages of Thunder.” “‘Reign of Blood,’ while also set in the past, is still several centuries later, all things being, more or less, eternal in Asgard,” Zircher explained. “Aspects of it are right in step with ‘Ages of Thunder’, others are darker. Much darker. I mean, hey, it is called ‘Reign of Blood.’”

Godamn, it's a good time to be a Thor fan.

I've always been a Thor fan, through thick and thin. Kirby, Simonson & Buscema did some great stuff, but the Deodata 90's Thor is quite possibly my least favorite.

This team looks to have nailed a side to the Thor character that I think has been overlooked but greatly adds to the rich depth of history that the character carries.

This could not possibly excite me more.
