I've only been to two of them and this year they are giving out a free X-Men book. Woot!

http://freecomicbookday.com/the_comics.asp
The best things in life are free. Like comic books. In this gratis issue, the young mutant Pixie tries to save her town from a mysterious evil. But when the baddies prove too tough for any one hero to handle, Pixie calls in a little help from her friends. Guest-starring Cyclops, Wolverine, Colossus and the rest of Marvel's mightiest mutants! This spectacular (and free!) story features the work of acclaimed scribe Mike Carey (X-Men, Messiah CompleX) and fan-favorite artist Greg Land (Ultimate Fantastic Four, Ultimate Power) in a story that will usher in a new era for the X-Men! The future of mutantkind starts here, so be sure to check it out. Also, it's FREE!

I like Carey....

Greg Land can really piss me off at times, but he's okay when he's not tracing/stealing someone elses work.

Don't like pixie...

But im hoping this whole issue wont be oreintate around her...chances are it will.

Serious? I thought Liefeld was the only one that did that. I love Land's work but I don't follow it that often so I've never noticed him copying any work.

what?
You don`t like Lucy Liu Pixie?
What about Vin Diesel Cyke?
and Nicole Kidman Emma?

I don`t like Land. I am always concentrating more on trying to figure out whom he traced now than on the actual comic book. It is really distracting

Greg Land taces All. The. Time.

Note the difference betwen his regular work and his "photorealism", as well as the similarity to actors.

This article points out where he has swiped other artists work:

Another problem is that he traces from pornographic material, creating very...akward compositions.

And he so freaking lazy, he traces from his own work.

Fortunately, his work in the most recent X-Men: Legacy is not as bad as he has been in the past (though there were still some odd moments in it such as the facial expression used in the death of Sway..or Petra, whichever) So the constant internet ridicule may be getting through to him at last.

FREE = YES.

I don't like Pixie much, but Land impressed me with Legacy, Carey's impressing me with Legacy (and his overall take on the students + villains), so this should be free AND good.

Land can't draw pixie right.
She's not six foot 2.
She's not a model.

He also can't draw N'garai.
They're just really badly drawn.
Probably cause they're not in porn. . . .

Thats just wrong. I don't follow much of the on-line news so this is the first time I've heard of this. I'm surprised theres no law about swiping other artists work.

There is sooooooo many more examples on the net, but that one speaks volumes. Oh there is an updated version where you see more stolen stuff in that image.

Yeah, my point exactly. Vin Diesel cyke is just wrong, on many levels.

Got an advance copy. PM for spoilers.

Rest assured, Pixie fans, she doesn't get all angsty like everyone else in Divided We Stand.

Emma's diamond form in this issue looks cool.
