Okay, I downloaded Super Metroid for the SNES on Wii's virtual console.
I have been having a good time with it. I got to motherbrain and saved it right before hand. I have 100 regular missles and 10 super missles...which is not enough ammo to win the fight. So I thought I would backtrack...like you can do at every other part in the game. Sorry Voncaster. On the last boss, the designers removed backtracking...and got rid of enemies with item drops. So after spending about 8 hours playing the game. I'm stuck at the very end of it.
If I have to start over at the beginning, I won't play that game for a VERY long time.
surely there's some cheat out there that allows you to finish the game in the way the designers did not intend to tell players about.

The game only takes a couple hours to beat.

Do you have the charge beam? Because charge shots do missile damage. Don't think that'll work on Metroids, but they drop missiles.

I do not have charged shot. I have all the other four weapons. Looks like I'm starting over. But I'll probably wait a few weeks before starting again.
I just think its a poor design choice to have a save point at the end of the game, and not allow back-tracking or retreating.

Can't you go to one of those missile refill stations?

I actually never tried it without the charge beam. I know it's possible to beat the game with 95 missiles and some amount of super missiles, but it isn't a beginner trick. I think twenty, unfortunately..
Unless you have a bunch of power bombs to try hitting her with, I think that you're screwed.
No offense meant, but skipping the charge beam seems an odd choice. Why did you do it?
A missile/energy restore point is right after the point of no return, but it sounds like the Voncaster just doesn't have the ammo capacity, which he might not. And those don't give out super missiles.

I don't play games with hint guides unless I am totally stuck. I only learned of the charge beam after playing motherbrain a bunch and looking at some FAQs. While playing without FAQs I went through the first four worlds of the game without the charge shot, and figured that I wouldn't need it now...since I didn't need it previously.
If I was fully charged up (100 missals and 35 super missals) I'm pretty sure I could beat her. I saved with 10 super missals figuring there would be a super missal re-fill somewhere or an item dropping enemy somewhere...but no.

You didn't get the charge shot?
I didn't think that was possible, oh well i guess its GG for you because the Mother Brain takes one hell of a lot of missiles.
