It's pretty obvious Giffen and DeMatteis had never actually read any of her previous appearances before putting her in JLI. If nothing else, they might've had some fun with the "flames-out-the-nose" bit.

they actually created IceMaiden II by accident :P They didnt know that IceMaiden's name had been said.. sop suddenly they had her name be Tora Olafsdotter instead of Sigrid Nansen.. and suddenly.. we had 2 IceMaidens :P
