Don't mean to be offensive, but that statue looks disturbing.

Hard to forget, not when they're still in Iraq and Afghanistan alongside our boys.

Lest we forget.
Caught the dawn service in Brisbane, then flew to Sydney and caught the tail-end of one of the later ceremonies. Absolutely heart-breaking.

I feel horrible about the fact that I know nothing about this statue. Must go and learn more and then start a mini-crusade to make sure that World History classes don't stop at the Magna Carta or Queen Victoria.

Must go and learn more and then start a mini-crusade to make sure that World History classes don't stop at the Magna Carta or Queen Victoria. The building it's outside of is the Australian War Memorial (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_War_Memorial) (official site is here) (http://www.awm.gov.au/). The Statue is of Simpson and his donkey (http://cas.awm.gov.au/item/ART40993), that should give you a starting point.

I'm sorry for being a few days late, but I wanted to take a moment of silence to honor all those that have died and been wounded or otherwise have suffered fighting for Australia.
