OK, I don't know how many fans of The Twelve will have picked up this week's free Avengers/Invaders Sketchbook but something that caught my eye is that both Black Widow & Electro will be appearing in this up-coming series.

Apparently, there's going to be an appearance by a Golden Age super-hero team who's exploits were previously unknown, until the events of the Avengers/Invaders series. Amongst others, this team includes the original Electro and Black Widow, both of whom are currently appearing in The Twelve.

It doesn't say exactly how these Golden Age superheroes will fit into the Avengers/Invaders story but I sure hope that they only appear in flash backs because according to events seen in The Twelve, Black Widow and Electro have been in suspended animation since World War II and have only just got thawed out. If they're both alive and living in the modern world it could cause some serious continuity headaches for us Twelve fans.

Anyway, here's a scan of the group of Golden Age heroes from the Avengers/Invaders sketchbook.

Electro looks pretty different doesn't he?

I love the Golden Age Black Widow, she's deliciously creepy! Hopefully she'll stay that way.

Interesting...

You do have to wonder about continuity, though.

How the hell could Black Widow possibly work on a traditional superhero team? First bad guy who shows up - she points at him and he screams "Ahhh I'm being eaten by a Grue!" then bits and pieces on the ground along with a conspicuous stain.

I wondered about that. I thought maybe they were the equivalent of a modern team or a DC team but that doesn't work. maybe they are a team of traitors?

They looks very DC.

Hopefully this won't end up conflicting with the Twelve since they're both supposed to be taking place in regular 616 continuity according to their creators.

Really would hate to see someone step on (even if it's unintentional) what JMS has been weaving in that series.
