Lionel Luther's death

In the episode "Descent" Lionel was killed by his son, Lex, after he refused to surrender the key he recovered from the Queens. Lex used a gun to shoot the glass out from a window in Lionel's office, and then pushed Lionel out of the window making it appear as if Lionel had committed suicide. Following his death, Clark discovered a Kryptonian device containing a message for him in the event of elder Luthor's death. The message affirmed Lionel's loyalty to Clark and warned him of the threat posed by the two keys. Clark mourns his passing and blames himself for his death, believing that he had, just like Jonathan and Jor-El before him, died because he had chosen to protect Clark. After words of encouragement from Chloe, Clark seems to overcome his guilt and goes to Lionel's grave. Like he had done at Jonathan's funeral, he takes a handful of the soil and sprinkles it on Lionel's grave while whispering "Thank You".

I waited years to see this moment on Smallville. It was alright.
Just as a thought for whoever saw the episode: do you think it would have paced itself a little better if the whole death scene/act was a cliffhanger ending to the previous episode? Then start the next episode with the aftermath. I felt a bit robbed that it was all contained in one episode, if that makes any sense at all.

The death was kinda a cliffhanger from the previous episode, it ended with Lex knowing that Lionel has the second key. That why Lex killed him--for the key.

Nah, I'm not talking looking-for-key cliffhanger. It's pushed-out-of-window cliffhanger. Just debating whether or not there would be a grander sense of drama, it felt a little empty for me I guess.

It seem fine to me. I didn't have a problem with that episode. I'm looking forward to the April 1 episode "Apocalypse".

Anyone got a idea what the big threat that Lionel say was coming?

We´ve already seen tights.
How about some flights?
Is the guy EVER gonna fly in this show or they´re saving that for the last 2 minutes of the last episode of season 12?

Yeah, I'd dig a little more of this (http://youtube.com/watch?v=AT7NutySc4Y)

Yes, that was nicely done--although subsequent flying scenes (by other characters) have not looked as good.

In the interplay between Clark and Ma Kent just before he takes off, Annette O'Toole demonstrates that her acting abilities are far better than those of Tom Welling.

It was very sweet of you to say that Tom can act.

How the hell did Lionel up end being a good guy?

Once I tell you, you won't want to know. He got possessed by Jor-El. Honestly, I've seen every episode (except for this latest one) and I don't really understand it. I'll miss John Glover though.

They kinda hinted that Clark isn't flying due to impact Jonathan's death has on him.

scout, that didn't really answer Corrina's question.

Jor-El appointed Lionel to be Clark's protector. Jor-El didn't see Jonathan worthy of be his "vessel". As Jor-El's "vessel", Lionel could write in kryptonian.

today episode
Sleeper
While Clark seeks out Brainiac to force him to fulfill his side of their bargain and restore Lana, Chloe and Jimmy go up against the government.

today episode

Uh-huh.

Basically, all of Clark's friends go up against terrible odds while he obsesses over Lana. Will he fix Lana's ingrown toenail in time to save the lives of thousands of people in time or will his non-powered friends save the day while Clark sobs about his disproportionately absurd love for Lana?

I won't spoil Sleeper, it aired up here yesterday and I know it's on CW tonight.

However. Ho. Lee. Crap. What a dumb, dumb episode.

I know there's a CBR reviewer that talks about stupitron particles. Well this one was exploding with them.

SPOILE ME!!

I stoped whatching this a while ago.

I'll try. I might not have heard some parts over the sound of my eyes rolling.

Jimmy and Chloe can't seem to jumpstart their relationship, she's still distant/keeping Clark's secret/transitioning into her new job running Isis, Lana's Oracle-esque joint. But he suspects something's up.

Then, Some NSA lady thinks that Chloe is a terrorist, due to all the hacking she does. So NSA lady threatens Jimmy to help her expose Chloe's master plan, or "endgame" as she put it. She hands Jimmy a briefcase filled with Bond-like gadgets, and he breaks into Isis and plants spyware on the harddrives.

Then Jimmy and Chloe go to some black tie party/club which is adjacent somehow to an office of some relevance with top secret goings-on. Jimmy uses one of his gadgets to download who/what Chloe's target is in said office. The two share a really, really lame dance number and Jimmy slips off. He somehow develops super-commando like abilities, climbs through the ventilation, and drops from the ceiling behind some random guy -- the target he thinks Chloe is after -- and takes him out.

But lo, there's a twist. When Jimmy delivers the info to NSA lady, she tells him that Chloe has tricked him. Chloe found Jimmy's spyware, which used the IP address from his home computer or something, and knowing that Jimmy was spying on her, sent him after some random guy while she went after the actual target.

Chloe gets caught, beat down by NSA lady. Jimmy no longer wants to find evidence to get his girlfriend arrested and decides to save her. They go back to her place, where she doesn't seem to have any of the cuts and bruises she sustained from the multiple bitch-slaps from NSA lady (I'll chalk that up to her healing powers). Brief conversation, then they start with the kissing.

On the side, Clark discovers that Kara and Brainiac went back in the past to Krypton in 1989. Lex finally opens the secret society box in Zurich which has some sort of navigation to what I'm assuming is the fortress.

Isn't it an episode about Jimmy? Pretty much the only way to stuff more stupid into an episode is to make it about Lois.

I never thought the show would find characters who could make me appreciate Lana, but they have, and I do.

I'm in the camp that thinks that scene was awful. Clark's first flight is when he's posessed by an evil 'Jor El' and saying that Clark was dead? Wow. What a terrible way to fly. Even Superman Reuturns, as awful as it was, got his first flight right. I want to say I stopped watching soon after, or I had stopped watching and just caught this ep. Despite some good casting, particularly from the adults like Ma Kent and Lionel, I gave up on this show a while ago.

Chloe (and the show's writer's) show their ignorance when they imply that the term "light years" refers to the passage of time, instead of a unit of measurement. I have watched the show four times and Chloe has used the term incorrectly in two episodes. Isn't she suppsosed to be a reporter?

Multiply that by 50 if they work in television rather than print.

Agree, Sleeper was dumb. They end up giving us dumb episodes after something awesome happen...like Lionel's death.

WIZARD #199 'Smallville spoilers'

The CW's Man of Steel takes flight for five new episodes beginning on April 17. Expect a DC character to show up in leather, someone to get powers from kryptonite and Lex Luthor to kiss two different girls.
Pete was the one who got powers from kryptonite (kryptonite gum).

Bah. Lex Luthor kissing girls. Everyone know Smallville's Lex Luthor doesn't kiss girls.

what power did he get anyway?
He got stretchy, which is just ridiculous. Why would you bring Pete back to make him stretchy when you have Jimmy Olsen on the show?
