So there's been news that Dark Horse will co-release a new CLAMP series simultaneously with its Japanese release. That's pretty awesome.

Though at NYCC there is a bit more info on that, but mainly the announcement of a somewhat new license.

Some news on that here:

Dark Horse will also be working with CLAMP, starting with "Clover," and and launching "Mangettes"

"Clover" will be edited by Karl Horn, whom Atkins said would elicit a much bigger reaction at the anime convention "THE Karl Horn?, you would say."

...

"Mangettes" will be the first manga project to be released in English, Japanese, and Korean simultaneously. They will be 80 page issues, and come out with greater frequency than most manga.

I don't think I've ever read any other CLAMP series, but years ago TokyoPop released Clover just when they changed their name to TokyoPop. I have all four volumes and it is amazing. I would gladly buy it again. Plus we get a whole new translation by a big name manga scholar.

Interesting  I was a bit confused by the Clover part ("But that's old! Did CLAMP leave it unfinished?") till you pointed out it's going to be a rerelease.

Actually, I thought CLAMP did rather leave it unfinished. Maybe. Kinda. It was an odd little story, not quite told totally linear.

Ah. Newsarama has a bit more on that in their report.

Atkins told the audience that Dark Horse will be working directly with manga legends CLAMP to launch Mangettes next year. Early 2009 will see a 512-page, including a 32-page color section, omnibus collection of the CLAMP series Clover. All four volumes of the series “in one great package.” The new collection is edited by Carl Horn. When the audience showed no recognition of Horn’s name, Atkins smiled, “He’s a celebrity to me.” With a $20 cover price, Atkins called Clover “lots of material for a very, very low price.”
