Finally, this issue arrives. I was surprised by a few plot elements. I like how Jackie met Dr. Krichner in the first place, cause he was sent to whack him. This issue does a nice job of displaying how manipulative Kirchner is. The battle with the U.S. helicopters was nicely done as well. The last page really caught me off guard. It seems that Kirchner has taught Elle how to usurp control over the Darkness from Jackie.

I didnt like the last page but i saw it coming from issue #1 so im guessing its just me not liken the whole jackie not being in complete control thing.

True. I also figured that we were going to see Kirchner try to hijack the Darkness eventually. I just didn't think it was going to happen so soon! Loved the "here's how Jackie & Doc Kirchner met" flashbacks interspersed into the super-cool Jackie vs helicopters battle sequence.

So are we done already with the new "Jackie as ruthless banana republic drug kingpin" status quo? If so, too bad; I liked the new setup (which was a nice change from the same old NYC Mob environment) and the Darkness-as-designer drug concept.

I was hugely dissapointed with this issue.

I liked the flashbacks and how Jackie met the doctor.

But this storyline and the so called betrayel was so predictable that it ruined the issue.

But the biggest problem with this new "run" is this arc sucks cause of we have already read this story before in Darkness. Jackie's female darkness creation has already backfired before.

Plus the Jackie that became a mob boss isnt stupid enough to be fooled by some lame scientist gambler.....

Only small part of my loyalty to awesome two vols of The old Darkness keeps me reading this.

What i hate most is that they dont respect their old readers by recycling an earlier The Darkness story.

I like the art but i dont like the new writer. To go from the great Garth Ennis script in vol 1 to this.....

Well I'm liking it. The plot and pacing are great., and the script and dialogue work just fine.

I agree that the betrayal was predictable - but one thing I've never been comfortable with was Jackie having far too much control over the Darkness in most arcs. The Darkness is a power of malevolent chaos with an agenda of its own, and should be portrayed that way. It shouldn't just bow to Jackie's every whim - not without a price.

I'm enjoying Hester's run so far.

hey the man as to create a woman from scratch if he wants to play "hide the Hammer" sounds like a price to me

I have read 100 stories where you saw the downfall of having Darkness before and it being good stories too. The difference is those stories wasnt preditactable.

I liked that his darklings are against him now but being outsmarted by the doc is unbelievable if you have seen Jack of the last two vols.

If he was only muscle and no brain he would have died long ago.

I think you're being hasty in your judgement. The arc's only half-way through, remember.

No doubt, by the time the arc is through Jackie will have turned the tables on the doc, regained control of his power, and left the doc a dismembered corpse.

Of course he will turn the tables of the doc thats no the point.

The point is as a Darkness fan i have seen this stories too many times before.

Second point is Jackie isnt cool anymore. Which i could wait for if the storyline wasnt too predictable.
