Things aren't easy for the heroes of Avengers: The Initiative, with those who pass their exams and survive graduation still having to battle a Skrull Invasion. CBR spoke with writers Dan Slott & Christos Gage about their plans for the book.

The first year of “Avengers: The Initiative” comes to a conclusion on April 30, as issue #12 hits stores and sees Initiative architect Iron Man furiously confronting Camp Hammond personnel for answers. “There has been a lot of, shall we say, questionable activity at Camp Hammond, from cloning to cover-ups to having an ex-Nazi on staff. Tony wants to know exactly what's been going on and why,” Gage explained. “It would be hard to say more without getting into spoilers.”
Sounds like fun (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/preview2.php?image=previews/marvelcomics/avengers_initiative/kia/avengrad04.jpg), but I thought SHIELD didn't have jurisdiction over Camp Hammond. Why would Gyrich have to listen to anything Tony has to say?

Gyrich did some pretty illegal things. If that is exposed, then he and the camp are potentialy in trouble. So even if Tony doesnt' directly have any authority over Gyrich, he in the least can inform people who do (not to mention the public).
Course, I doubt Tony wants this out either so he'll probably go along with the unlawful cover up, and just use it as leverage to try and get Gyrich to clean the place up a bit.

Because I imagine that dispite being the head of SHIELD, he still has oversight athority. yeah, the whole SHIELD/UN thing is already a breach of US soverginty, but it's been going on in the MU for generations.
On another note, that art for 12 is god-awful. just terrible. "gouge my eyes out with a dirty fork" bad. Stop buying the book if it continues like that bad. What happened to the good art???

I love how Tony and Rhodey's places at the table have "I. Man" and "W. Machine" abbreviations.

So Slott says that the upcoming Initiative stuff... apparently involving the Tactigon and whatknot has clues from most of his other series and miniseries. So does that mean it has somethig to do with the Reckoning War or whatever mentioned back in SHe-Hulk or what?

Oh yeah, I think that's clear. Slott's reckoning war is his baby, and any deep dark alien mysteries can be assumed are tied into it.

Wait- justice's team is made up of former New Warriors? Other than Rage, who's on it? Dare I hope Aegis?

Nope. It's Justice, Slapstick, Ultragirl, Rage and Debrii.

So, how does Skrullowjacket play a big role in Secret Invasion when Slott and Gage killed him?
