Drew Geraci is a very talented inker! If you ever have the opportunity to speak with him you will quickly learn he is a awesome person too! You can see a lot of samples of his work at his web site (www.drewgeraci.com).
I'm one of those people who feels that comic art never looks finished to me unless it's inked. I'm a computer artist and I know first hand the amazing things that can be done in Photoshop. But to me it's really obvious when the original pencils haven't been inked. A talented inker can make a world of difference with the artist's work as well. Without naming anyone by name, there are pencilers who's work just doesn't look all that good before it is inked, or if they ink it on their own. And even in cases where the artist is outstanding, it still makes a world of difference. I think Ron Garney's art on Wolverine is awesome but I miss seeing Bill Reinhold's inks over his pencils from when they were both on Spider-Man.
Inkers get a lot of teasing about being tracers, -as seen in the film "Chasing Amy", but a talented inker makes good art into great art, (and I suspect they often make bad art in to better art too.) God bless people like Joe Sinnott, Terry Austin, Jim Mooney and all the talented inkers who helped make great art!

Good stuff--though I would have curious to hear about Drew's experiences calling in to the Howard Stern Radio Show recently!

Are you a frequent listener of the show? And before getting on, did you sit and wait on hold for a long time?

I listen every day (much to my wife's chagrin-she's not a fan).
When I called, I happened to be on-topic with the answer to a question they had posed amongst themselves (what's a McRib?), so I only was on hold for three minutes! I have tried to call since, and have been on hold for hours without being picked up, so I would lay the phone on my table while I inked so at least I would be productive while waiting.
What's funny is that I actually LIKE the McRib, which is why I knew so much!

That's good--when I realized I knew the work of the comic book artist caller, I pictured a guy hunched over his drawing board slaving away while getting a cramped shoulder from having his shoulder pressed to his ear for hours.
