The redoing of Bucky has been one of the better ideas in years. Even if he's replaced as Cap eventually I hope they keep the character around.

The book is definitely consistent in it's quality and is a joy to read every month. It certainly goes on my top 10 if not 5 but I enjoy other Avengers books probably just as much such as Avengers: The Initiative, New & Mighty Avengers, Thor, and Iron Man Director of Shield.

From the writing, art, coloring, I agree completely. It's the miracle book that made me a fan of Captain America, seriously, I don't think I could be more gay for this superhero mantle than I am right now.
This is the book you're going to be telling your grandchildren about shortly before they kick you out of your wheelchair and call you a geriatric nerd.
I can only hope Ed milks Bucky as Cap for all it's worth, I'm nowhere near ready to see him go (and I would actually prefer to see him stay), even if it means he gets his own series as The Winter Soldier.

The bigger miracle is that it didn't drive away the old fans of Cap, and pulled new ones in. That is a magnificent feat of writing skill.

QFT.
Buy the only book in comics history to get BETTER after the titular character died. The best part? It was already the best book on the stands when Steve was alive!

I hear that. When I heard that Bucky was rezzed, I was dreading it. But Brubaker pulled it off and really made it work. Ordinarily, I hate resurrections, but I really like what Brubaker has done with Bucky. He made it work.

I gotta say Brubaker making Bucky the new Captain America was the thing that really hooked me to the series:biggrin:

I have to say it reads better in collections. I think I'm going to just wait for the next Omnibus. But it's still my favorite Marvel book.

I agree with all of the above posts. It's still only half as good as Criminal though.

As much as I agree with your opinion that Brubaker's Cap is outstanding month after month, and hasn't let me down for going on over a year and a half now... there's still the matter of...
6. WHEN (NOT) TO START A DISCUSSION THREAD
There will be no "claim-staking" threads, such as "Avengers #24 -- Discuss!" In fact, you should at least write a paragraph if you are going to start a discussion thread. Otherwise just let someone else start the thread.
Discussion threads relating to newly-released issues may be posted at 12:00 AM on the day the issue is released in the United States. Before that, the discussion belongs on the The Avengers Spoiler Thread. So if you read an advance copy of an issue you may post there.
Preview pages and creator interviews may be given their own threads for discussion. However, please don't start threads simply for a cover image. Cover images can be discussed in either the monthly solicitation thread or in that title's News & Speculation thread.
Your opinion about something, however, is not, in and of itself, worthy of its own thread. I understand that you have opinions and that you think they're interesting, but we already have so many discussion threads in which you can express your opinion that you do not need to form your own thread to do so.
No character "all purpose" threads. The very concept prohibits true discussion because there's not true topic. Just post new threads if you have a valid topic or question to discuss about a character.
Otherwise feel free to start a new discussion thread whenever you'd like so long as you've already made a reasonable SEARCH and didn't find a duplicate.
It's okay to resurrect old threads as long as you have something to add. But posting solely to bump a long-dead thread back to the front page is a quick way to have that thread closed.
Sorry, just sayin'.

Hehe carabas couldnt agree more. Criminal is the best comic realesed by marvel specially since Ennis is leaving Max Punisher.
Shame it doesnt come often and regulary.
Captain America is thought the most consistent comic series in marvel.
Cap,Bucky and co are always a good read.
Even Stark is interesting and not a prick that you wanna punch like every other time you see him.....

Yeah, Cap is one of the best book right now, considering I hate the character but I loved Bucky!!
Marvel is publishing so many good books right now: Punisher MAX, DD, Moon Knight, Thunderbolts, X-Factor, Criminal, Iron Man...

This proves that Brubaker's writing is so great, it defies the very laws of nature and logic themselves!

Heh it does i use to act like Captain America didnt exist before i read Bru's run.
He was too lame with his name and look for me to take him serious as a hero.
That was before i had to read the run cause of Bru being one of fav writers and now despite Bucky is one of my favorits i cant wait for Steve Rogers to make a comeback

The Twelve is better. It's the best Marvel book no contest. But I guess few people pick it up due to the lack of name recognition. However it ranks next to Watchmen.
Thunderbolts is as good as Captain America but there again there is a problem of name recognition plus the lateness irks people over this side of the Atlantic (In France the standard for publishing is one 64 page album every year or every two years, but production is not fragmented, penciling, inking and even lettering are done by one person)
Criminal: I can't understand what people find in this. It's boring, overdone, repetitive, clichéd. The reviews is the only part I found remotely interesting.

Iron Man: Director of SHIELD is so much better.
Brubaker's Cap is good, but it falls prey to cheesy comic book tropes every now and then.

Captain America is one of Marvel's best books, along with The Twelve, Thunderbolts, Thor, Iron Man, and Nova.
I havent read much by Brubaker other than his uncanny work but everyone says the best things about his all of his books. No-one anywhere seems to say a bad word about Captain America, other than it's great...i really want to read it but i feel like im so far behind.
