Anyone planning on dropping any comics in the next couple months? I'm thinking of dropping:Catwoman, Birds of Prey, JSA and JSA Classified, and maybe Checkmate (depending on how the new guys do). Plus most of the mini's I'm reading are ending Suicide Squad, Gotham Underground Salvation Run and (thank god) Countdown to infinite never ending whining.

I'm waiting out Final Crisis, then if I don't see some positive changes I'll be dropping a whole heap of books.

Spectreguy just wait before dropping birds. Sean is leaving and Tony whom while didn't do supergirl justice at all gets the birds right continuing with simone's style and portrayal.

1.WW
Even with Gail simone and the dodsons this title has been boring and WW isn't that likable anymore(also now the the Dodsons went to marvel even less reason to like the title). I wish she had the humor and attitude pre-AA with Jodi and Mr. writing her. That was a great WW a WW I could actually like for the first time ever. However, with going back to not liking the character and being short on cash I am going to end up dropping this title

2. Supergirl
The art has been borderline Horrible crap to at best Decent since Churchill left at issue 16 and the removal of her edge, her attitude, her confidence/backbone and making her a superman in a skirt whom thinks that superman is god and she needs to kiss his and Batmans feet and take crap from WW to boot has ruined what was so reatabout the character in the first 18 issues. So Since issue 20 when tony tokk over shes gone so far downhill to unlikable its not even funny. Again with lacking art and destruction of a once good character I going to have to drop it with money issues.

I am probably done with All-Star Superman after issue #12, unless Morrison and Quitely continue after that point. I might drop Brave & the Bold after next issue, or sooner if the writing continues to be stale like recent issues, and especially if Perez is leaving anyway.

I know I was ready to drop JSA Classified with the whole Mr. Terrific storyline where the art was so bad it was difficult to tell the difference between Mr.T. and Wildcat (seriously) but it just seems to be getting more...blah. Plus I've started getting more Indies lately (although the whole "will they come out this month or not?" is getting a little old) Ahhh don't mind me, I just heard Brubakers leaving Ironfist and I'm feeling a little grouchy. :frown:
spectreguy(first Rucka now Brubaker, man why do I even get up in the morning?)

Not planning on dropping anything just yet, but there are a few new creative teams coming onto books I read - Checkmate, Birds of Prey, Blue Beetle and the Atom. I'll give the new teams a shot and drop the books if I don't like what I read.

If Tony can't turn Birds of Prey around, it's gone. I just dropped Catwoman, Teen Titans, and Supergirl (again), and if things don't shape up with Justice League of America soon, it's gone, too (again; I dropped it after giving Meltzer six issues to stop sucking). I've been dropping books left and right lately, from DC and Marvel.

I just cleaned up my list a few months ago. I'm pretty happy with what's on it now, so no, I'm not planning to drop anything soon.

There are three or four minis that are ending, but those don't count:smile:

Umm actually Yes and not to mention that has jack shit to do with the thread topic. Taking something out of my sig and posting it for the sake of attack and random arguement is immature and retarded.

I'm dropping Checkmate after Rucka leaves and I'm giving Pfiefer a chance on Blue Beatle but after his other stuff I'm worried.

I'm actually picking up Madame Xanadu so dropping Checkmate worked out perfectly.

I just Dropped JLA, and I will not be buying trinity after the countdown fiasco, I just don't want to commit to weekly.

Like the thread starter said, a lot of the mini's are coming to a close thankfully. Salvation Run, Countdown to Mystery, Death of the New Gods, and the slow death that is Countdown to Final Crisis, etc. Too bad new mini's are coming out like Holy War and Reign In Hell. Oh well.

All-New Atom I dropped after Gails run

Green Lantern Corps is on and off, depending on the story at hand

Wonder Woman still hasn't clicked with me, so if the next issue doesn't leave me speechless, it's gone.

Blue Beetle I'm done with since a new writer is on board that I haven't been particularly fond of.

Detective Comics is also teetering on my drop list, only because of the art from Dustin Nguyen. I hate it with a passion and I can't read it without wanting to stab my eyes out.

huh, I read somewhere they're canceling JSA Classified after #39, so that takes care of that one.

How does everyone feel about Simon Dark. I really wanna stick with it but its just so freakin slow. If it doesn't pick up in the next couple issues i'll probably drop it.

Dropped Simon Dark, too. It wasn't creepy enough after the kid started getting friendlier and the plot itself is moving at a snail's pace, so I kicked it. And yeah, like someone else here said, when Jones takes over Checkmate, that book's gone, too. And Blue Beetle, maybe, if Pfeifer doesn't do very well with it. I'm close to dropping That Atom since Gail left, but Remender's last issue was pretty good. We'll see how he does next month.

Already dropped it. I've been tempted to pick it back up, but it may only be in trades.

I like it, but then I'm a Steve Niles freak. It is a little slow but I think some of that is them trying to establish who he is and all. On the other hand Niles has used the "kid made from other kids" in an old Cal McDonald story.

Actually that's not a bad idea, but isn't DC a little slow about getting those out for their more obscure characters?
spectreguy(thinking he's going to have maybe three DC comics left on his list after it's all said and done)

Simon Dark is a book that DESERVES to be dropped, unlike BoP or Catwoman. Even in trades. Ugh.

And seriously (horrible Salvation Run tie-in aside), I don't understand how anyone would consider dropping Catwoman. One of the best books DC is putting out. Never late, always great art, and Pfeifer gives the goods.

Booster Gold - I'm not feeling that hopeful of it now that Katz and Johns are out.

JSA Classified and JLA Classified are cancelled, so you don't have to drop those.

This is my "on the cusp" list:

Infinity Inc (Just too weird for me)
Supergirl (actually on an upswing)
Flash (How can a book with good creators and an awesome character be so boring?)
Atom (seems a bit stagnant, post Gail)
Checkmate after #25 (Bruce Jones? Are you kidding?)

Meandering plots with severe build up and absolutely no pay off, shoddy characterization, and heavy editorial edict are good enough reasons for me. Beautiful art will only keep my interest for so far.

I dropped the Atom after Gail left and have finally dropped JLA after the last two dismal story arcs. I plan on dropping Checkmate once Rucka leaves (:frown: ) and am done with Batman Confidential once Tony Bedard's Wrath story is finished. Plus I may opt out of Brave and the Bold after Perez leaves, as his art was the big hook for me on that book.

Dropping Supergirl to pick up the new Titans series. I'm hoping Kara's characterization is better in the new Justice League book cuz it can't get any worse in her own book (or really Superman's book featuring her what it should be called)

I stopped reading many DC titles awhile ago.

I stopped buying All-Star Superman because it took too damn long and each story seemed kind of thin. I read them in less than 5 minutes.

All-Star Batman was excited but damn, I though this was supposed to be a classic take on a superhero. Not Sin City in a batsuit.

Wonder Woman I started buying again but once Dodson left I left too, and I tried to follow it after, but it seems Simone rushed the Nemesis/WW romance way too fast. Many funny moments/stories could have gone on with that dynamic going of Nemesis and his hero worship/crush on WW/and his annoying sister/partner relationship with prince.

Batman, dropped it with Damien. Didn't like Bruce having a son, AND on top of that he's a lil murdering brat. The dialogue was weird too.

the only book I'm buying from DC again now is Detective Comics. The art is very stylized but nice, finally some color on the covers, and Dini always puts out good stories. I have to admit, I would rather have 'Tec feature Harley Quinn and Zatana considering how well Nguyen draws the latter. His Batman is only okay, but as long as there's some females in the comic, I'm happy.

I think the only one (that isn't a mini) that's off my list in the near future is CHECKMATE. Once Rucka leaves, so do I.

Everything else is pretty solid. Johns is kicking ass with GL, and as a result GLC actually made its way onto my regular list instead of being dropped after the SCW ended. BOOSTER GOLD is funtastic. JSA is only better since the relaunch. JLA is good (although I'm not liking McDuffie as much as I liked Meltzer - yeah, I'm that one guy apparently). DETECTIVE is still going strong, fill-ins and all; and honestly Nygyen's art doesn't hurt like it usually does. FABLES is as good as ever.

......so yeah, I turned this into a "here's what I'm keeping" post. :p

I am also dropping Checkmate after Rucka leaves. I may drop Booster Gold when Johns & Katz leave, depending on who takes over. I am also thinking about dropping Green Arrow/Black Canary because I am not enjoying it that much. I recently dropped JLA and The All-New Atom.

I stopped buying the Flash for the time being. I'm definitely feeling a little burnt out on all the creative changes and events going on. Spectreguy, I would ask you to reconsider dropping JSA. The book is building very slowly into something pretty good.

I dropped most dc until final crisis is over. Hopefully once everything dies down good stories will be able to get told without lame crossovers and editorial involvement. Really only Dc i'm getting are issues directly related to the GL corps and Sinestro Corps. I'm curious in seeing what develops with the other corps, but that is all.

Me too.

I'm gone from the following if I don't see something good by the end of Final Crisis...

Batman and the Outsiders
Anything with the words Countdown in it or Weekly associated to it
Booster Gold
Catwoman
Teen Titans

I'm basically waiting for the Wildstorm stuff to relaunch after Number of the Beast, and then I'm going to try to focus on that.

I don't really understand this because as fan backlash against Countdown increased, the amount of titles it affected actually decreased. Aside for specific Countdown titles, all the DC comics that I read have been pretty much completely unaffected by Countdown over the last six months at least. It also appears that Final Crisis will be mostly a standalone title that won't force the rest of DC's line into pointless crossovers. If this actually does occur then I think it's pretty hard to dispute the fact that for all their problems, DC editorial are learning from some of their past mistakes.

I think I might be dropping Wonder Woman soon. The relaunch hasn't done nothing to make me care about the character. I like Heinberg's story it didn't wow me. The novelist (forgot her name) made Diana into a moron and the fillers were downright awful.

I really got into with Gail's first story arc but I was underwhelmed with how it ended and the second arc isn't doing it for me.
