Does anyone have this? Do you know what issues it reprints? Seems an odd choice of all the Legion stories to reprint.

It's Legion of Super-Heroes v3 #1-6.
It's the Legion of Super-Villains arc that featured the death of Karate Kid.
Not really such an odd choice as Karate Kid was featuring in Countdown.

I hadn't read these issues before picking up the trade, having only started reading the Legion with the 5YL jump. I'd heard a lot about the Levitz/Giffen run, but I'd only managed to find their Magic Wars issues.
I was pleasantly surprised. Eye for an Eye is a great hero team vs. villain team story as well, definitely worth picking up. Hopefully DC will follow through with more of Levitz issues.

It appears that they will.
Legion of Super-Heroes - The More Things Change (http://www.amazon.com/Legion-Super-Heroes-More-Things-Change/dp/1401219446/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1207580899&sr=1-1)
"The More Things Change" is the title of the first story in Legion of Super-Heroes v3 #12. I'm guessing it will contain #7-12

And with the upcoming Supermanboy-Prime and Legion of Super-Villains it's a nice way to get up to speed on the LSV.
Besides just being a good Legion story.

It is sad that one of the greatest periods of the Legion is also the most under collected of their entire 50 year history. Between where the Archives stopped and where the trades for the 2nd Waid run begins they only ever put out The Great Darkness Saga (original Legion) and The Beginings of Tommorow (Reboot Legion) in trades up until the Eye for and Eye came out. That is just pathetic.
I will never understand why the new Waid series got completly collected in trades, but the early DnA stuff never even got one. Stuff like Legion Lost should have been collected long before the 2nd or 3rd Waidboot trade.

Good to hear there's more on the way. I would have like to see the year or so between the Great Darkness Saga and the launch of the baxter book collected but this is a good trend.
Still on the fence about getting it though...

Not only that, but there was a lot of good stuff just before Great Darkness. 'Monster in a Little Girl's Mind', 'Night Never Falls on Nullport', the Medicus One story... it needs collecting.

Good to see DC continuing with the reprints. I'd love to see the entire Baxter series reprinted. Of course, I'd also love to see the 5YL series reprinted as well.

Now that's crazy talk
Yeah, starting with the Giffin/Brodrick issues (the low 280s?) then going ahead to the launch of the baxter book would be great.

I would love to see the 5YL Legion collected. Not all of it, but issues 1-38 and the Annuals would be great. Basically just the stuff that Giffen was involved with.

There is a DnA trade named Foundations, which contains a latter arc where Superboy joins the Legion to battle against Darkseid. In my opinion, it's the weakest storyline in their Legion relaunch, sort of a latter days X-Men "we need to touch on this classic storyline" (in this case, Great Darkness) syndrome. They really should reprint the first 13 issues of the DnA relaunch because it has one of the greatest reveals in recent history ( Ra's Al Ghul is controlling the UP in the 30th century, but the even greater threat is Computo and the Robotica swarming all over space towards Earth) and is just really great superhero science fiction.
I would also love a hardcover of the first 14 issues of the 5yr gap Legion.

I always forget about Foundations. Your right though it is the weakest story DnA wrote in their whole 5 year run. It was there you could see DnA were running out of gas pretty fast. I also agree that their first year or so of the Legion book was some really great stuff, and Copiels art was great as usual.

Agreed. The book kind of lost it's way once Giffen left.

I tend to disagree. I thought there was some great stories up until issue #50. I particularly love the Mordru War in #43-#48. And you can't go past #49 with Tenzil! Also Legionnaires #1-#6 was great as well.

I think 39-50 were alright, but the art was not a big draw for me. All in all it was not bad, but just didn't measure up to the great stuff we had just seen in issues 1-38.

Didn't mind the Mordru War, and any issue focusing on Tenzil has to be good. For me, there was just something missing from those later issues. After issue 50, the book really took a dive.
Totally agree on the early issues of Legionnaires.
