I never see spoiler threads up, or anything. Can anyone here give a low down on whats been happening in this series since it started?

You know, I read the first 7 issues and I can't even answer that question.

Agreed. I picked it up b/c Steel is one of my favortie charatcers, but it's been a bunch of intros ands mini stories, not really that exciting. I'm going to give it until their first organized adventure (I think #10 if I read correctly) then drop it. I thought it had some promise, maybe the writers just need a kick in the ass.

Infinity Inc is a weird book.
It's more about the kids that came out of 52 and the weirdness both psychologically and physically surrounding them than it is about Steel who has a smaller role. They all have pretty endearing personalities and I think I know what Milligan is going for but the murky art really wasn't helping the book. Now that Pete Woods is on board that's pretty much rectified but I would have put Pete on at least a higher profile book like Green Lantern, Superman, or Flash.

When this series was at # 1, I probably noticed it, but I didn't buy it. I was on a downturn in my comics interest at the time. Now, I'm on a bit of an upswing again and checking in on a title with John Irons and his niece (?) is a possibility. Last I noticed them I had read about the first quarter of 52 and been interested in their story.
With # 8, I saw Pete Wood on art and the costumes on the cover, plus the First Mission tag, so that seemed like a good issue to try. So I bought it and read it. (Maybe I'll start a thread for it at some point, if I can get some thoughts down on it.)
Then I came here to search for threads on the title, and there wasn't much. Then I looked up the latest sales figures for the title:
151 - INFINITY INC.
09/2007: Infinity Inc. #1 — 33,400
10/2007: Infinity Inc. #2 — 24,158 (-27.7%)
11/2007: Infinity Inc. #3 — 18,776 (-22.3%)
12/2007: Infinity Inc. #4 — 15,861 (-15.5%)
01/2008: Infinity Inc. #5 — 13,951 (-12.0%)
02/2008: Infinity Inc. #6 — 12,523 (-10.2%)

So, the answer is that probably not many people are reading it, and it may not go on much longer unless the sales start going up, or there are some important stories for this crew that DC wants to tell just now. But who knows, maybe every copy is getting read here, while heaps of other better ordered titles sit on the shelves, making these figures less accurate. Anyway, if you want to support the existence of this title, you probably shouldn't wait.

I was going to check it out because I heard that Infinity Inc. was the modern day successors to the JSA and the Earth 2 equivalent to the JLA, but I didn't see Jade, Obsidian or any of those heroes who are supposed to make up that team, so I passed. Plus the covers I saw, I couldn't even tell who was supposed to be in the team, all I know is I didn't see Jade, Huntress, Powergirl, that captain america looking guy, none of Infinity Inc.

Technically, they aren't the Infinity, Inc. you're familiar with. This Infinity, Inc. is the result of Lex Luthor's Everyman Project in 52, which granted ordinary humans superpowers through some kind of experimental gene therapy. It was basically Lex's attempt at restoring himself to his somewhat tarnished "villain with good publicity" status, as he envisioned himself as Prometheus, stealing fire from the gods (abilities from the super-powered) and giving it to the mortals.
There were some explicit shout-outs to the classic Infinity, Inc., such the "new Jade" Nicki Jones, a photojournalism student who was given both of Jennie-Lynn's power sets --- the willpower-generated energy constructs from her father the original Green Lantern and the floral manipulation abilities from her mother Thorn. Of course, Obsidian got pissed off when he saw her and pretty much attempted to kill her before being calmed down. I'd go on about how the project ultimately ended up, but you wanted to hear about the Infinity, Inc. connections, so there they are, the ones I remember, that is.

I'm reading it, and I like it because it's different to your usual Superhero fare. There's tons of character development and some decent story-telling. An interesting and enjoyable read every month. The artwork is taking some getting used to though, it has a really "rushed, kinda imcomplete" feel to it, but then again I have an inactive gene for art appreciation so meh, what the hell would I know
I've been trying to read it.
But the mix of substandard art and a seemingly directionless plot is not a great thing. Add in a bunch of characters that I really don't seem able to care about in the least and ... well, it's a title that just doesn't do it for me.

I believe that other than Gerome and Natasha, they aren't even the Everyman Infinity Inc. version, they are other Everyman kids, it makes no sense why they would want to go by the same Infinity Inc. name (which Lex is supposed to own anyway).

I almost got the recent issue that had Lex on the cover and the altered title of "Lex Luthor's Infinity Inc," but wisely skimmed through it first and noted that Lex did not appear at all in the issue except as a hallucination caused by some kind of nightmare machine. Yeah, nice try, cover artist.
Like Matt, none of the Infinity Inc kids from 52 jumped out at me as characters, so I have not been following this book. Steel as their leader/mentor might be an interesting hook, but I see Will noted that Steel's role is only a minor one. While I like a lot of Milligan's work (Human Target, Skreemer, The Programme), the continuing adventures of the Everyman Project participants, sans any Luthor/LexCorp involvement, just doesn't do anything for me.

Small spoiler for # 8: Mercy joins the team. Not sure that counts as the level of involvement you need though.

Hmm, that is interesting. I wondered whether she'd get banished into character limbo after 52 & Superman OYL until she was needed again. Guess this is the answer. Thanks for the info.
