Ennis will be leaving MAX Punisher with the current arc and is anyone dropping the book once he leaves? I collect the series in hardcover format so I'm not going to pick up the new writer stuff unless I hear some positive buzz.

give the next guy a shot

but really, the last time Ennis left, it didn't pan out to well
(taxi wars and time traveling dreams...)

I read the series in hardcover, too.

So . . . maybe? It's hard to say when the replacement hasn't actually been announced, yet.

Yeah, I'm done Punisher with Ennis. Sorry, new guy, whoever you are.

Another hardcover devotee here, and unless there's some very good feedback regarding the next creative team, I'll stop with what will be volume 5 of the hardcover series.

I will definitely try out what the new writer does, but judging by how awful the MAX annual and the "Force of Nature" one-shot were, I think that I only enjoy Ennis' take on the character.

Will give the new writer a shot. If suspect, I will drop. I am already buying War is Hell so that should keep me satisfied with Ennis's work.

No way in hell. I was reading the Punisher before Ennis' quintessential run and will be reading it long after.

Depends on who the new guy is, but most likely I will, yeah.

I'll stick around for the first few issues and decide from there. The Punisher is such a good character he's really hard to leave.

i never picked up any of the one shots or annuals of Max because i didnt like what i said when skimming through them. ennis is a great writer for castle and i see how they tried to give castle that same tactical sense in war journal but that just doesnt play out for me i dropped it after the first 3 issues - doesnt help that i felt forced to buy it for civil war...

i want to give it a try because Max is definitely how people liek punisher and a few others SHOULD BE written, without any boundaries or cheesy jokes and whatever. MAX feels like real life events and feels as down to earth and realistic as poissible and the only one ive seen pull it off so well (and the only title to last so long on max) was punisher under ennis

ill see after the next writers first arc but im very far from enjoying even saying that

I pretty much read the series because of Ennis so I think that I will probably leave when he does unless I hear some good things about his successor.

I've been reading the stories of the Punisher for many years, regardless of who the writer was. Granted, Ennis is the greatest of Punisher storytellers and the next man or woman lined up for the task of writing the stories has some mighty big shoes to fill. I'll keep reading unless it's very bad, like angels or stupid time travel stories. That taxi story stunk really bad too and I don't tend to like the one-shots not written by Ennis.

I do feel there are people out there who could do something good with the character.

Most likely not.

I never liked The Punisher before Ennis came on as I found his character to dumb and idiotic. But I was a huge Preacher fan so I followed Ennis and Dillon to Punisher and it instantly clicked with me because finally here was a writer who understood that Frank Castle at his heart is nothing but a sadistic serial killer who long ago lost his revenge motive and now only does it for the thrill of the kill.

The Punisher stuff written by guys other than Ennis since that time has not impressed me and some of it is just downright stupid and silly (the whole Captain America bit).

At this point I think I'd rather leave Punisher with Ennis and not have the memories of his superb run tarnished. Kind of like most people wish they'd left the X-Files when Mulder did instead of sticking around to see what came after.

I'm gonna stick with The Punisher. Ennis to date has been my favourite writer to work on The Punisher, but I love the character too much just to drop it just because Ennis is done his story. The next writer (or writers if it becomes an anthology series or something) deserves a shot. I liked the MAX one-shots. So I'm gonna stick with The Punisher to the end.

Gonna give the new writer a chance though I know it's gonna be tough to follow Ennis.

I'll give the new guy a shot. Ennis' shoes are going to be tough to fill.

If the recent one-shots such as "Force of Nature" are any indication of what The Punisher will be like once Ennis is gone, then I'll be following him out the door.

It's not that I think The Punisher can't be written well by anyone not named Garth Ennis. It's just that Ennis did it so well that he's going to be a tough act to follow. I look at what Matt Fraction does with Frank in the regular MCU and I don't want any part of it.

I'll give the new team a try, but I'd be very surprised if I don't find them coming up short.

I just switched from trades to hardcovers, so yeah, same boat here, I'll see what's up with the new guy, but I really, really doubt that I'll bother, given how many other books there are out there to get.

I'm an Ennis fan.

Insoasmuch as I like the Punisher, Ennis doing a 100+ issues of the definitive Punisher is a very hard act to follow.

I did not read the Punisher Max currently, but just got the Hardcovers and quickly caught up to date.

Most likely, I'll drop the title.

Am a punisher fan since 1982 so i will be staying...............

With saying that am an Ennis fan as well, i have near every thing by him , he's great, so yes big shoe's to fill by the next writer , but really, from most of the posts here, a lot of people just get the hard covers which to me would be a casual fan, so that won't affect monthly sales and any hard core punisher fan will stay on anyway, some of the recent one shots have been good and the up coming one look's great (little black book) and use these writers. so i think the title will be worth getting, but i can't help but feel that marvel will stop it, cause they are dragging thier feet about saying who will be doing it..........

Probably gone with Ennis, barring the announcement of a worthy successor like Jason Aaron or Brian Azzarello. Like stealthwise noted, there are so many books out there these days that I may take this as an opportunity to drop MAX and add a new book to my pull list, as opposed to continuing with Punisher MAX just to end up disappointed and pining for the Ennis era...

If it's Aaron or Azzarello, I'll give it a shot, for sure.

If it's the dude that did Force of Nature, I'm out. What a pile of crap that was.
