About Comics' publisher Nat Gertler just dropped by to pick up my cover-art for his upcoming collection of Ginchy Gail Simone's YOU'LL ALL BE SORRY! columns (!) and gave me an advance copy of the MANY HAPPY RETURNS 2008 ANNUAL, featuring a new 8-page "Crossfire" story by Mark Evanier and Dan Spiegle. Here's more information:

I know that there are a lot of CROSSFIRE fans here, and frankly, I doubt if the MANY HAPPY RETURNS 2008 ANNUAL is gonna receive the publicity it deserves -- it's also got a new "Journey" story by Bill Messner-Loebs (thus explaining the "returns" part of the book's title) -- so keep yer peepers peeled for this one!

Aloha,

Scott!

That is excellent news indeed.

The superhero parts of Crossfire were never my favorite bits, but the portrait of day to day life in LA on the other hand was pure gold.

Plus Dan Spiegle never looked better, and that is really saying something.

For those of you to young to remember comics from the 1980's, you might want to do yourself a favor and pick this book up. If it is anything like the original series, it will be well worth the cost of admission.

Holy Moley.

I just looked at the add and saw that this book also has the first new Journey story to come out in years in it too!!!!!!

Without a doubt this is a major comicbook event, and some really good news for an industry that could certainly use a longer memory about the classics.

That's great news! The last couple of years I've been picking up issues of this series, and it's become one of my favourite comics of the 80's. The art by Dan Spiegle is top notch, and Evanier's scripts are excellent throughout the series. In some issues Evanier is just as good as Alan Moore.

Thanks for pushing the book - although I will note that it wasn't really an advance copy, this comic is on (all too few) store shelves now. If your favorite store has already sold through of their copies, they can reorder from the distributor -- FEB08 3400 is the item number.
