In Toyfare, The Dark Knight section had an artical showing various action figures for the new movie TDK, and one of them was Deathstroke! Does this mean we may get to see Slade in the new Batman film?

I said "possible." I would do that sticking-out-tongue smiley but I hate the mutant versions we're being attacked with.

I know, I was disagreeing with there even being a possibility. I'd do the winky smiley but I quite agree with you about their creepiness.

Checked IMDB no deathstroke is listed. So I'm thinking no.

Don, I don't see the problem either. When people are just indulging in guesswork, I don't consider that a spoiler.

Nope. While there's a lot about the movie no one knows, I'm reasonably certain Deathstroke isn't in it. My complaint, however, was that some people can be very obsessive about avoiding spoilers, true or false. I had a friend who stopped talking to me and a bunch of other people because he didn't want to know one thing about Revenge of the Sith. No character names. Not who is and isn't in the movie. Nothing. Not even stuff officially released by Lucasfilm.

Have I been out of the loop with comics lately?

Isn't Deathstroke his real alias and Slade just the watered down alias to be used in the Teen Titans cartoon?

Or have they incorporated Slade and Deathstroke being used in the same comic series?

I'm not sure what you're asking.

Deathstroke's real name has always been Slade Wilson.

There's nothing wrong with toys, yes they are more popular with kids, but that is no reason why adults can't collect them. Besides there is a difference between the way kids and adults collect toys. Kids play with them, adults don't and usually take better care of them.

Besides most adults would have figurines, busts, models, or marquettes of their favorite comic book hero/hereon. Not toys.

uh, no one here has actually gone gah gah over toys yet. The discussions been entirely about deathstroke and TDK

http://www.comingsoon.net/gallery/42118/The_Dark_Knight_Toy_Fair_5.jpg

Okay so they've got Firefly and Deathstroke and I understand the need for unique villains on the shelf and not just 13 variants of Batman. But heck, aren't the obvious choices Killer Croc, Scarecrow and Deadshot? They're in the anime DVD. Kids will want toys of them. Why Firefly and not Croc?

My only guess is maybe they're reserving them for a dedicated anime line of toys. Which would be cool, I guess. And sensible marketing too.

The Goon toy is the best of the lot! I'd actually buy that. He's the new Bob.

That seems a bit nuts to me... like the guy that doesn't want his corn to even touch his mashed potatoes on his plate at Thanksgiving. I would think if someone was that obsessive about it, he'd avoid comic book forums altogether. Heck, he'd have to avoid the web altogether-- and the news, printed media, and of course, Oprah.

Because since Identity Crisis, and the sudden push for Deathstroke to be something so great, and all that. Then you have in the Cabal that striked against the Outsiders then against the Secret Six, again nothing helped the character. Then you have him taking on Green Arrow, in his series, Then you have him facing the JLA in McDuffie's arc. Then you have him facing Teen Titan's in Teen Titan's West approach. He's been so watered down and pushed in my face the past few years, that frankly I'm pretty sick of hearing about Deathstroke.

First off he's been primary a Teen Titan villian, not that one can't surpass that, but Deathstroke has always been the mercenary. He really has nothing to add to just be a Batvillian.

He's just been in too many pots in my kitchen for the past couple of years.

I agree he's not a Batman villain. But lately He evolve in to a hero community villain from Teen Titans villain. after all, all the original titans leave the team. And Nightwing being a Batman character and as the teen titans former lider he has a more personal thing between Deathstroke and himself so this makes Deathstroke more close to The Bats in a way. He's so powerfull but what's a hero if he doesn't take on the more powerfull anyway. And i disagree that he's over used i really like Deathstroke. I like to see him with the Bats and Arrows.

..........and Deathstroke adds to what most DCU villians lack is that sense of danger. You look at Deathstroke and go @#@?%, he looks like he can kick anyone's butt.

I should add though,DC should careful in how much they use him or he will windup like Ghost Rider/Punisher of the 90's.

I have always thought of him as a Nightwing/Titans villain. So i can see why they are trying to tie him into this as one of Batman's.

Deathstroke has been a peripheral Bat-Villain for years, largely through Nightwing but he's popped up in one or two story arcs in Batman/Detective too.

Personally, I think he'd be a great Bat-Villain. When played to his full ability (and not pushed beyond it by plot-induced stupidity) he's a character that should/would be a serious challenge for Bruce on both a physical and mental level. In fact, on the physical level he should pretty much kick Bruce's butt most of the time.

Batman has a shortage of villains that can really engage him on multiple levels. I don't see a problem with adding one more.

But yeah...he won't be in the movie. Or at least I highly, highly doubt it. The video games like to toss in lots of little easter eggs like that, though, and Deathstroke is practically tailor-made to be a video game character.
