Great follow up issue. I understand why a lot of readers would rather wait to collect this in HC, but you are missing out. Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. work well together. They feed off each others energy. To quote Cal Norton from Talladega nights nights- They go together like peanut butter and ladies. :D

This issue was as good as the first. See him becoming a national celebrity now should be pretty cool, as well as it effects it will have in the media and in the nutjobs that will try to imitate him.

How the heck is he going to hide the fact that he got the $@$% kicked out of him AGAIN!? His dad is going to flip! what a slefish little snot...

I know, I know he's trying to help people, but come on now. He "cried for hours" about his dad's bills and then he goes and gets himeself beat on AGAIN? Not exactly being honest with ourselves are we?

In other news: this series is great. I hope it keeps going.

This issue was ****ing great!!!!!!!!

Kick @ss has become one of the top 5 comics that I look forward to every month. (i buy around 35 to 40 comics a month)

After reading this comic, a couple images are now commited to my memory, and vividly stand out. Jr Romitas art is just that good. And Millar's character development is simply amazing. Wow

I didn't think the issue was anywhere near as good as the first. It was good, but the first was one of teh funniest comics I've ever read. I also didn't like the idea that after getting beaten down beyond belief, he was just like, "screw it lets go try again."

The youtube line at the end was brilliant though.

Oh, and you fellow readers of Kick Ass should clearly go vote for me in the Marvel League, haha.

I guess the viral video on youtube is supposed to be the scene in this issue

I didn't like it. After the beating he took last issue, he's unlikely to ever walk again, let alone be back to normal in six months. Too unrealistic.

Yeah, a teenage becoming a super-hero wanna be is realistic, but him being able to walk is not. And it sure is a reason to dislike the entire comic. Oh, it is.

Suspension of disbelief....

Assuming he actually lived after being hit by a car, and after spending 6 months in a hospital bed, its not unbelievable that he could eventually walk again.

Only conflict is interesting, too much realism is boring. What would you prefer, 2 issues of him stuck in a hospital??

Or better yet; end the entire series at issue 2 with him stating "and I will never walk again", The End ... Would that make you happy? That's realism for you.

I thought this issue was pretty good but not a patch on the first one. Issue #1 really blew me away but this one...not so much.

Having said that, I still enjoyed it a lot...I think the story was bound to slow down somewhat while he was in hospital. Hopefully next issue will be up to the same awesome standard as #1 was.

Great John Romita Jr. art as usual and I loved the tag line on the front cover - "Sickening Violence: Just the Way You Like It!" I thought that was a nice parody of those old Silver Age Marvel comics. :)

I liked it well enough. I didn't think his "I'll never do it again" switch to "I'm gonna do it!" was unrealistic, considering the timeframe. After 6 months, he'll get used to his dad having bills, he'll forget how much it hurt, and he'll miss the comics he loved and the excitement he had wearing the suit.

I liked it, and I'm glad that the character is moving along.

Yeah. If this were, say, issue twenty and he'd just gotten the beating of a lifetime and decided to give up... then you'd expect it to last a couple of issues to get the value out of it. But this is issue two, and it's still part of the origin. Of course it's not going to be the focus of the book.

I have loved both issues of Kick-Ass so far. I think, much like Wanted, Millar is breaking the nigh impenetrable 4th dimension. The last 2 pages of Wanted were exactly that and he starts KA off the same way. In the first issue alone Dave is talking about debates the fans have had for years like organic webs for the spidey movies or web shooters. Whether it was wise to use the Ultimate Galactus in FF:ROTSS or go with the giant with the purple helmet. He even discusses Whedon's work on X-Men and mentions Buffy. Now with the You Tube video and for next issue. Millar, with this book, is basically allowing us to live out what many of us have always thought about. I am hooked, it's Millar and there are not many better than him to begin with, and I am going allthe way to the end cause with Millar you know he always saves the best for last.

Issue #2 gave me enough material to create a fan-made trailer over a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Man why is it that every time John Romita Jr. is brought up here that there's someone making tasteless shots at his art?

John, you're the man for taking it in such good stride. BTW I enjoyed your podcasts on Spiderman Crawl Space and especially the Fanboy Radio ones with Mark Millar, they were entertaining as hell.
