Calculated Plan Of Attack. (http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5g84E-NqKavdkNfL6nv-ixkYQFiSgD8VPBR8G2)
Yeah, so they think the kids got the idea from a cartoon.
Maybe I haven't been up early enough on Saturday mornings lately, but I doubt things have gotten this bad in children's programming.
shouldn't this be in the weird news thread?

If such a thing even exists,(which I guess it does.) I suppose a moderator will shuffle it through.(sorry for the inconvenience.)
But do you have thoughts on the issue or are you being a hall monitor?
If so I have a hall pass.(with an obviously forged signature.)

I've seen dumber, like that one retard who set himself on fire filming himself and stated it was inspired by Jackass.
Teens do dumber shit, and kids don't know any better.
Like me. >_>

And if this isn't a April Fool's Day gag, it says a lot that I can think it is.
Fucking hate that day.

From a cartoon?
Man, when I was nine, I knew the difference between fantasy and reality.
So either the authorities are just jumping to conclusions (as usual), or kids now are just plain retarded.

I want to know where the hell they got the handcuffs.

I'd say its an april fools story.
Otherwise, that teacher is probably one hell of a ball-buster.

oh yeah, fools.
April.
Days. Gullible much? Me?
But it does seem crazy enough to be true.
sorry to bring the alert level to red folks.
Children that age have not actually really developed much of a moral compass and they are also prone to get wrapped up too heavily into fantasy, sometimes with tragic results.
I have no doubt that the original idea can from something that one of them saw or heard about, but it was the kids who developed the fantasy, turned it into a plot and then began working to make it reality.
Golding had it right.

I checked the Georgia newsites and no, it's real.

Kids!
I don't know what's wrong with these kids today!
Kids!
Who can understand anything they say?
Kids!
They a disobedient, disrespectful oafs!
Noisy, crazy, dirty, lazy, loafers!
While we're on the subject:
Kids!
You can talk and talk till your face is blue!
Kids!
But they still just do what they want to do!
Why can't they be like we were,
Perfect in every way?
What's the matter with kids today?
Kids!
I've tried to raise him the best I could
Kids! Kids!
Laughing, singing, dancing, grinning, morons!
And while we're on the subject!
Kids! They are just impossible to control!
Kids! With their awful clothes and their rock an' roll!
Why can't they dance like we did
What's wrong with Sammy Kaye?
What's the matter with kids today!

Well, scary then.
I'm no childhood psychology expert.
But I do remember being a child, I do remember the 3rd grade, and hating teachers. I had an older brother, so I knew that violence had consequences, as I would get beaten up, a lot. We plotted and schemed as a class to drive our theater arts teacher crazy. We planned plays for football, hell, we boycotted a neighborhood store for unfairly taxing us(school kids) for untaxable food, and when we were doing bad things we knew it.
So I can't exactly excuse this behavior, it was a premediated conspiarcy.
C-O-N-spiracy.

Golding had it right.
Except this was a class for special ed kids. It's entirely possible that one or several of them truly can't distinguish reality from fantasy.
Several other explanations are possible, too, like maybe the teacher is not a good teacher or the parents are lousy but from one news report that's not very in depth, it's hard to tell.
But for kids who are really mentally ill, there can be breaks with reality, especially with violent fantasies. All it would take is one or two who can't tell the difference and they'd manage to get some of the rest to go along. Instead of condemning the kids, I'd find out if some of them were truly mentally ill. It happens.

The children, ages 8 to 10, were apparently mad at the teacher because she had scolded one of them for standing on a chair, Tanner said.
Fucking hell. Overreact much?

Fucking hell. Overreact much?
If they were normal kids, yeah.
But these are special needs kids. Most of the time, they can't help it.
Then again, considering a couple relatives of mine have threatened to kill me on several occasions over the last few years because they got mad over me calling them out on something -because they have special needs-, I'm VERY familiar with this sort of situation.
So don't hate on the kids. What they did was wrong, yeah, but chances are they can't help it. (And it's not easy for them to 'get over' certain things too, so don't play that bullshit card with me)

If it had been some spur-of-the-moment thing, like the teacher had told off a kid and the kid had snapped and attacked her in a fit of rage I might buy that.
But to say they "can't help" putting together an elaborate plan to imprison and torture their teacher because she told a kid off?
Bullshit.

Like Corrina said, it's a break in reality. Which isn't to say that with a better teacher or better parents, the kids wouldn't have been set off so extremely by a seemingly innocuous tongue lashing from their teacher, but even so, the tendency to disassociate from reality when considering what they were going to do isn't unlikely.

Of course, it's entirely possible that I haven't worked enough with special needs kids to really be able to judge. The whole "they can't help it!" thing does smack of excuse-making, though. Maybe I'm just old and cranky.
"The only 'special need' these kids have is they need a good kick up the arse!"

Shit.
Both in the "shit, this actually happened, that sucks" sense and "shit, we've reached the point where this could genuinely be an April Fool's gag" sense.

I have a special needs kid with truly scary psychotic breaks from reality. Like 'seeing monsters coming through the wall to eat her' breaks with reality. Or responding to voices that don't exist. Or having a panic attack from something imaginary trying to eat you. It's a truly scary and terrifying thing, especially if you're a parent. If there's a strong family history of mental illness, chances are it's going to show up in the next generation.
She's improving and the psychosis is gone (in remission? dormant?) but controlling her temper remains a challenge. She wouldn't follow throw with a plan but this kid or kids might not be getting the right meds or might be more severely sick or might have lousy parents or might just be acting out for other reasons. I don't know.
Anyway, I'm not willing to say "these kids suck!" or "these parents suck!" or "these teachers suck!" without knowing more about the situation than in a single news report with only one source. Not that this didn't happen but it's hardly a nuanced and detailed explanation of what happened.

Then I pity you. I truly pity you if that's how you genuinely feel.
Try living for years with 2 siblings who can't help what they do and probably never will be able to function in a society like you and I do, even with all the assistance they can get. That they'll never be able to really comprehend their actions or what goes on around them.
The insensitivity and sheer ignorance from people astounds me to the point where I want to vomit sometimes.
