From the desk of Marvel publicity guru Jim McCann...

"Ok guys, the culmination of something that has been hiding in plain sight for months is finally up and ready! You may have seen it in LITG or many of the sites that picked up on the story, but you HAVE to see this...SECRET INVASION: HOME INVASION, the Kinsey Story:

http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=31531215

It's crazy, fun, and has a HUGE Secret Invasion announcement at the end. Also, it is well-worth your time to watch all of them. There are hints, clues, red-herrings, and Easter Eggs hidden all throughout.

HUGE thanks to Megan Sherlock who starred (and kept up with the comments and friend requests, all while staying in character), Ben Morse, who co-created and co-wrote, and Sam Walker who co-wrote and directed and set designed AND did so much more that I think SHE'S got Skrulls impersonating her to help out!

This is just the beginning, so enjoy!
Jim @ Marvel

(no, this is not an April Fool's Day joke, this is a real thing. Look for news stories about it soon.)

PS, pre-emptive eye-roll to the eventual Debbie Downer that asks for their 2:13 mins of their life back. No, I can't give you that. But I can give you a hug."

This all started about four months ago when I had a crazy idea and spoke up during a marketing meeting and now after all the time, effort, re-shoots and hard work from my lovely girlfriend Megan, our great director Sam, as well as Jim and a ton of other people, we've got something really cool.

Watch. Enjoy. Spot the hints. More to come later.

:)

Haha the best part about this is the random people who added her and are commenting but don't realize it's a viral campaign

Until a couple of days ago, the only Kinsey I have ever heard of was that guy that made the sex questions in the 40's and was played by Liam Neesom (who should have won the Oscar, BTW) in the movie... and my life was the same, I suppose. Never saw what was so funny about that campaign.

Marvel didnt really get the word out on these. This is only the second time I heard about it and the first time I bothered watching any videos. The first time I heard, I didnt even know it had to do with marvel at all. I know it would defeat the purpose to be all "Go watch this video" but they need a way to get more people to watch and follow. Still a pretty cool thing to do.

They did. One of the vids got over 200,000 views.

Once again proving how insular and separated from actual mainstream appeal the most internet comics fans are.
Just cause THEY didn't see it, means Marvel did bad job with it. Nevermind the 200,000 other people who did watch it.

Too true. It's like all those folks who moaned that they missed the Kick Ass stuff, last month.

Besides, Marvel doesn't need to reach comic fans with this. They've already got us. This viral stuff is generally for the outside market. You know, trying to reach people they don't already sell to.

I'm sorry for having an opinion. Maybe I missed the stuff or something. Instead of being jerks maybe you could have pointed out how the word got out about it? The only other reference I saw was the LITG column. Stuff like this should be marketed and grab attention of the average comic book reader and even those who don't read comics. It shouldnt be some secret only hardcore readers see. Those are the people who already know if they are buying it or not. That was my point. Again those I visit this site and newsarama, and rarely Marvel's site. Maybe I missed the stuff on it before.

Thats the point. Most of US didn't see it, because it was not made nor marketed to us hardcore comics fans.
It was marketed to average fans and non-readers. And considering 200,000 people saw it, I'd say thats a success in marketing to non-readers.

One the one hand, you have complained that Marvel dropped the ball because you didn't see it and only heard about it on LITG---but on the other hand you complained that Marvel needed to market this to average and non-readers instead of hardcore readers.
Which is exactly what they did.
