Now, I'm a huge Tigers fan. I won't even try to hide it.

But damn! That Nationals game last night was insane dramatic!

Now, the Tigers REAL line-up:

Curtis Granderson
Placido Polanco
Gary Sheffield
Magglio Ordonez
Miguel Cabrera
Carlos Guillen
Ivan Rodriguez
Edgar Renteria
Jacques Jones

Unfortunately, Granderson has a slightly broken finger, so he's out til like Saturday.

But this may be the greatest line-up in the history of baseball. They may break a lot of records. Renteria is hitting 8th, and he hit .321 last year!

Anyhow, who's your fav team this year? For whom are you rooting? What player do you want to see go crazy?

Since the Pirates have been a losing team for most of my life, I really have no interest in baseball. The Pirates have a slogan they've been using the past couple years, "We Will." It makes me laugh every time. Yes, "you will" ...lose...a lot.

One of my favorite teams of all time was the '79 Pirates. "We Are Family!"

Dave Parker, Willie Stargell, etc. That was one hell of a team, and I loved watching them win the Series. :)

I have a baseball-themed blog post this week! (Link is in the sig.)

But, hey,

GO RED SOX!

Go Cubs! :)

Now that the albatross that is Mark Prior is finally gone, maybe they can focus on winning games......

Another Red Sox fan here. And even though I didn't get him for my fantasy team I hope Jacolby Ellsbury has an awesome year!

I love the Red Sox, but seriously, you Red Sox Nation people ... :)

If the Tigers don't win it, I hope the Sox do. And Manny looks amazing. He's in incredible shape.

EDIT: Nice post, Corrina. I would love to make it to Yankee Stadium some time this year, but I'm not sure if that will happen.

That catch he made in Japan was absolutely RIDICULOUS!

Cleveland-area represent!!

And we think the Indians are going to go the distance this year.

This can only bring heartbreak.

(And I have Manny in fantasy and he's still my favorite player from his days in the Canton AA team that used to be down here before he went to the Indians.)

The Indians are, along with the Red Sox, to be honest, the only teams I fear as a Tigers fan this season.

I THINK we are better than the Tribe, but you never know. That's why they play the games. :)

Peter Gammons picked the Indians to win the series last night on Baseball Tonight. Don't know if that's good or bad, honestly. :)

You let a little thing like having a losing team ruin your love for the game? You're not even a real fan if you root for a winning team. Anyone can do that. Do you think Yankees fans really appreciate what it means to love baseball? I can tell you, because I am a New Yorker, that they do not.

Sure the Mets choked on a legendary scale last season, but I know I'm a real fan because I honestly believe that this year it will be different. I may be crying in October,* but right now I am high on faith.

*I totally won't be. This is sooo they're year.

It's worth seeing but I totally understand the money crunch.

And I've been a Sox fan since before there was Red Sox nation. 1975. How could we lose after game six? 1978. Ouch, ouch, ouch. And that icon from the lovely poster on my blog, my worst heartache, Game Six, 1986.

After 1986, I could hardly watch the playoff games. I even missed Aaron Boone in 2003. I just didn't believe it would ever happen. Not in my lifetime.

But 2004? I mean, you can't make that shit up. If anyone who's a Sox fan has an ounce of honesty, they'll tell you they were sure the Red Sox had not a chance in hell after the 19-8 drubbing and going down three games to none.

Best headline after Game Seven?

NY Daily News: HELL FREEZES OVER.

This success feels much different. But I'm soaking it all in, as much as possible. And I have a cork from Johnny Damon's bottle of champagne from the celebration of Game Seven, too.

Anyone who has been a Red Sox fan for that long, and endured things like Bucky Dent, deserves a LOT of happiness these days. :)

That 2004 playoffs come-back was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. One ridiculous, crazy win after another. I couldn't believe it. I was rooting for the Sox, and I was so depressed. "Oh god, the Yankees are gonna win AGAIN?!" Then bam. Then bam again. And again. And all of a sudden: It's one game for the whole thing!

Truly, in three-plus decades of watching sports, I've never seen anything like it.

The Tigers season this year is going to coincide with both Red Wings and the Pistons play-off runs. It *could* be quite a year for Detroit sports.

And if any city needs some happiness, it's Detroit.

Wow, now I am no fan of the whole militarism that has infested baseball since 9/11, but I gotta tell ya:

I went out to have a smoke after the National Anthem (which, by the way, was sung by Miss America, who has a very pretty voice, and will be also tossing the First Pitch, and singing God Bless America [another thing I am not a fan of, but anyways]), and the F-16s that flew over Comerica Park were flying right past my house. Damn. That was loud. :)

To be honest, I've never been a baseball fan. I'll go to a game every now and then if I get free tickets, which seems to happen once or twice a year. I think I might be slightly more interested in the game if my team would do anything but lose.

That said, I am a diehard Steelers and Penguins fan, no matter whether they win or lose, though of course it's better when they're winning (GO PENS! :p )

I was born in '82 so I unfortunately missed out on the real great Pirates eras.

Greatest time of the year!
I wish I had tickets for Opening Day here in Los Angeles, but I did goto the Collisum for the Dodgers/Sox game on Saturday! Oh man, it was insane and wonderful! I knew then the year was going to get better!

Go Dodgers! :)

Since I'm from Arizona I picked up the Diamondbacks as my favorite team as soon as they came into existence. Before them it was Seattle back when Griffey, Jr. and Randy Johnson played there. At least I have one of my old favorite players on my current fav team even if he is washed up. I would really like the starters for Arizona just go off this year. Brandon Webb, Danny Haren, and Randy Johnson.

OK, well that first game sucked (lost 5-4 to the lowly Royals, of all people), but I blame Magglio and move on. :)

Anyhow, good games that first day all around. A number of tight ones on ESPN, and it was just a blast to be finally watching games that count! Yay, Opening Day!

The Angels/Twins game was of particular quality. Nice to see the Minnesota fans give a HUGE ovation to Torri Hunter returning in a different uniform.
