I was reading about Solaris' trip to the ER and thought of the time I went there many years ago. I was 17 and went in because I accidentally horizontally slashed my wrist.

What had happened was that I was leaning against a window waiting for my father to get home and I fell through. At the time my dumb ass didn’t want to go to the hospital but my brother insisted on calling an ambulance. A good thing too because I severed a pulmonary vein or at least I think that’s what the doctor called it. I am not kidding when I type that my brother along with the nameless young doctor saved my life that night.

What was funny was that they initially did not want to release me as I had to work hard to convince them that I was not trying to kill myself.

The second, and hopefully final time I been to the ER was when I took a single diet supplemental pill called Xenedrine back before anyone knew anything about ephedrine. At the time I thought I was having a heart attack other than the fact I couldn’t sleep for a month, was paranoid as hell, prone to heart palpitations I was fine. Thank god that only lasted a month.

Anyway I was wondering if you guys had any ER stories you wanted to share.

When I was 10 I had to go to the ER. Turned out I had a virus that if I hadn't gone when I did, I would've been dead within 36 hours.

Anyway, I was doped up on Demarol (GREAT SHIT for a 10 year old) and I was jabbering like a fiend. I started saying stuff about how you could have a heart attack and die waiting in the ER before someone came to see you.

My mom later told me that the guy in the next curtained off area was there because he had a heart attack.

During my hospital stay following the surgery, I had more Demarol and threw orange juice out the window and watched as it flapped its wings and flew off into the horizon.

OMG Les I was just thinking about doing a thread about this but chose not to.

I spent so much time in the ER as a kid the doctors joked about giving my mom her own parking lot or teaching her how to suture.

In reality one trip when the admittance lady was asking what happened and my mom started to answer, the lady said "No I'm asking him." She thought my mom had injured me.

There were two separate incidences where I ran an arm through a plate glass window. The second time the insurance sent the bill back saying they had already payed it and my mom had to call and explain that that was the last time I had ran my arm through a plate glass window.

Nope, I've been lucky so far.

Once when I was about 5ish, I was in a car accident. It was at night so I was asleep, the only thing I remember was waking up for like second to see ambulance lights, then went back to sleep cause I figured we slowed down to let the ambulance go by. Then I woke up when they stuck the IV into me.

Apperantly I was pretty bruised up, but the only "lasting" think was that I had my leg in a cast and even that was more of a preventative thing since nothing was actually broken.

Hopefully that'll be the last time I have to go to an ER.

Last time I was in the ER was when I was 22 and overdosed on Dilaudid and booze. Not my finest hour

I was 4 I think when I went to the ER for myself. I had climbed on the toilet to get to the only light switch for the bathroom. I slipped and fell back and sliced the back of my head on the tub which had sharp edges.

So upon going to the ER, my uncle was yelling because I was getting blood all over his car. Either way, I remember them taking a piece of the tub that was in my head and it hurt sooooooo damn much. They gave me 7 stitches which also hurt a whole lot.

Other ER trips involve my daughter, which are scarier than my trip. She had RSV once, I dislocated her arm last week, she's fallen from high places and hit her head. She has gotten the stomach flu a few times. Fun times, fun times.

I've had bad experiences with ER's...

the a few years back I wen in complaining of severe chest and left side pain and numbness....they must have seen my age and not taken it seriously because they just hooked me up and left and I saw noone fr the next 2 hours. the next time I saw someon was after the swelling in my chest caused a heart attack and killed me. BRRRRAAAAAAIIIINNNNNSSSSSSSS

at that point it's oops and a transfer to the cardiology ward and a lifetime of medication to keep my heart from exploding.

it's all right though. the second time I went in I took all the paperwrk frmt he frst time said this is what I have now fucking treat me seriously and don't kill me this time around....

good times.

........ what?

She deserved it.:evilsmile

She actually was in the hamper near my tarantula cage, which is located in the closet. She didn't want to get out so I couldn't get a good grip under her arms. So picked her up under her left arm and grabbed her by her right arm. As I lifted her she struggled and kicked back and she pulled her arm, and thus it became dislocated. She didn't scream or anything, so I thought she was faking at first when she started to whimper. I changed her diaper and then figured she was whimpering for too long. I took her to the ER and they fixed it. 30 mins. after this she almost broke her neck falling off of her bed.:( I'm thinking of calling her Chaos from now on.

Most recent trip to the ER? Last Wednesday night, when I rushed in because I had a violent reaction to the Crohn's treatment I had the week before. I spent from midnight until 8 pm in the ER waiting for a room.

As of today, I'm still in the hospital, just getting well enough for them to let me go to the computer lab. Update later. My computer time is up. ;)

Must be that kinda week.

I spent Sunday morning at the ER. I felt like shyte Friday, woke feeling worse Saturday. Feverish, shaking, sweating, dizzy, hallucinating by bedtime. Momma talked to the Things and got them to call my father and they rushed me in. Took 4 hours to figure out I didn't have the flu.

Just a viral infection they can't identify. Again. I seem to be destined to stump the doctors.

Typically, my insurance card won't cover what the Medicaid card I don't have normally would. And Medicaid won't cover the prescription because the attending doctor isn't registered with Medicaid even though he's recognized by NY state. So I'm sick but I have to fight this without medication.
