Should Midnight Sun join the new Guardians of the Galaxy?

I'm a HUGE fan of Midnight Sun and I would like to see him be used more. He's a cool character and one of Marvels very few black (of African descent) cosmic characters. I think he would make a great addition to the new GOTG team. What do you guys think? Should he join the team or remain in limbo?

MS was always a conflicted villain from the very beginning. He pretty much reformed in last appearance in the SILVER SURFER comics. So he hasn't been a villain (or even seen for that matter) in over 15 years.

Yes, absolutely yes.

In fact, given where we last saw him, I'd like to see him and Star-Thief II (Ditmil Pirvat) both join up with the GotG. They could very easily have gotten to know one another during their mutual time with the Inhumans, and would have had something in common- both from Earth, both not quite fitting in with the Inhumans. They've pretty much been in Limbo ever since they went to the Moon (despite Attilan's popping on and off of that place several times in the intervening years, no less.)

Attilan is the Marvel Universe's equivalent of sending characters off to school in Soap Operas. It's where you shuffle characters away that you don't want hanging around anymore.

I really hope Midnight sun join the guardian of galaxy, I really love thE two fights against the silver surfer, I like his design, but also the character himself, very sad, very charismatic and dark, I really hope Marvel show him again.

First , before anything else , Midnight sun should return to earth and beat the living crap out of shang chi since he started off as a villain of shang chi. Then he can join the GOTG. ;)

A guest appearance could be cool, but the team's big enough as it is, I think.

They're protecting the cosmos, and the cosmos is infinite. They should be based somewhere, Titan would be great, live in a big citadel, and have as many members as possible. Sure, not all the members would get the spotlight all the time, but at least it's not like they're in limbo, and I think the potential would be limitless. Nova Corps is gone; the Guardians could fill that void.

I'd revamp his costume a bit such as removing those stupid metal plates off of his hands and feet. I think the team is big enough as it is though, they already have Drax and Gamora who are insanely skilled and powerful melee fighters.

I could be wrong, but I think one of the reasons why his creators gave him the "Midnight" part of his name is because he is supposed to be a ninja like character. Although it's obvious that the creators at that time didn't know that ninjitsu is a Japanese martial art and not a Chinese martial art. Of course it is possible that Fu Manchu had MS and his Si Fan agents trained by an actual Japanese ninja master.

I realize I could have said "Wolverine" or "Spider-man," but I decided to stick with cosmic characters.

Certainly Silver Surfer's own recent track record disputes the idea he could prevent the book from being cancelled, but nonetheless, I continue to believe that adding two of the most recognizable cosmic characters on a recurring basis at the very least will not hurt. At various points in their histories, Surfer and Thanos have been popular enough to sell books due to their presence. If done properly -- always a big if, I grant you -- that could happen again.

As for MS joining the team, hey, if Abnett and Lanning have an idea for him, sure. He's a cosmic character with a funky look. And martial arts skills powerful enough to annoy the Silver Surfer for a minute or two. And he looks like if Snake Eyes joined a jazz dance troupe.

Although i like the character and all i dont think he should join GotG but i would love it if he made an apperance or 2 or if they do a 3rd installment of Annihilation maybe he can play some sort of roll, after all this event is about dusting off unused cosmic charaters.

I don't think he always had them on. I think. It's been a long time since I read the books. But it makes sense from a space martial artist's POV. You can't punch a dude in space, or you'd go flying backwards. Having his propulsion units on his hands and feet would allow him to fight without accidentally sending himself flying into space

I like the look, myself. I can see maybe providing some way of retracting them like you suggest, but otherwise keep both the disks and the hat and cape.

I disagree. I have seen far worse costume designs for black characters then this costume for MS. Take away the cape and the hat, and MS looks like a more streamlined version of Snake Eyes.

Speaking of Snake Eyes, it should be noted that MS appeared about 8-10 years before SE did. And he was doing the whole scarred silent ninja master thing before SE.

I think you'd still need to tweak the cape. At least the collar. It looks too much like if there was an issue of Dr. Strange if he became a private eye ninja.

i think it's more likely that Ultra-Girl is loyal to the Initiative and spying on the other former New Warriors. the girl has been leading the junior guardsmen afterall. plus, i could easily see her teaming up with Triathlon (the skrull hunter) during the invasion.
