The Iron Fist

I couldn't believe it when I read it, but is this really going to happen?
From the new Joe Friday's, Quesada says there will be an announcement in the upcoming weeks on the new team.

I really thought Brubaker, Fraction and Aja would stay longer....What do you guys think about this?

I think . . . there's going to be an announcement about the creative team in upcoming weeks.
Honestly, with such a vague statement, it's almost pointless to speculate about it. It could be anything from Brubaker leaving and Fraction writing the book solo (which has basically already happened) to a complete turnover.

I think Brubaker will leave and maybe Aja, but I definitely see Fraction staying on the book.

I could also see Brubaker getting replaced by Rick Remender. Rick's working with Fraction on PWJ. And Fraction is suddenly writing half the books at Marvel.

I wouldn't mind Rick Remender on the book. The guy is pretty awesome for writing Strange Girl.

I could see Fraction possibly leaving. He was mentioned in Warren Ellis' rant about leaving Thunderbolts as somebody who falls on his side of the line regarding a commitment to creator-owned works. Considering Fraction writes multiple titles for Marvel and only one creator-owned book that I can think of, perhaps this is the start of a mass exodus of writers out of Marvel.

For anyone that doesn't want to read that whole thing:
That’s our next glimpse into the past Iron Fists, at least until we make our major announcement about the Iron Fist creative team in a few weeks...
I imagine Brubaker will leave, and possibly Aja. I'll still buy the book if Fraction's on it.

It's probably just going to be Fraction and another artist.
I can't imagine Matt leaving the book when it's been so good and it's pretty apparent that he's the main driving force behind the title. Just take a look at the Iron Fist and the Green Mist one shot. They need to find a solid reliable artist though, it's a real shame that Aja had to bow out for the rest of the tournament arc due to his personal life which is understandable but I still wanted to see a consistent look.

Leonardo Manco would be a nice choice...:)

Feels like people might be overreacting a bit here. Bru has more or less said that the recent Iron Fist output has mostly been Fraction. I'm still going to keep on reading if it's Fraction and a new artist.

Yeah Bru has said hes basically just a glorified editor on the book, so hopefully nothing will change.

i don't think its overreaction on our part. im guessing if you care about the new creative team its because you're already reading the book, and if you're already reading the book as far as im concerned you're probably in love with it. "new creative team" is a deliberately vague term, but considering the fact that aja could hardly be considered the series' regular artist at this point, its gotta be something bigger than just replacing him. the title of this thread conjured horrible thoughts, but i have a feeling it just means a new partner for fraction to work with. pray god its nothing worse... I only named the title after Quesada's words. So really, I look forward to the upcoming weeks. I don't know though...Aja's art has really been great for this book. I really don't want him to get replaced but if he does, who do you guys think will be a good replacement?
I think Kano would be a decent fit.

I'm digging the Leonardo Manco idea.

I'd love to see Kano do it on an ongoing basis as well, with every issue he got better.

This has been my favorite book the last year. I really hope they don't change things too much. It's been such a great ride.

If Aja has to bow out, I'd love to see someone new step in. Give the book a fresh new look that no one has seen.
I think Matt Hollingsworth's colours are deeply underrated. The guy brings a lot to the look of the book. He did it with Daredevil and he's doing it again with Immortal Iron Fist.
I think he can make a lot of artist's pencils look great. If I had to pick a candidate to take over David Aja, though, I'd pick Gabriel Ba from Casanova. Ba has the simple, yet dazzling art style that Aja has made popular.

Gabrielle Dell'Otto, even though he generally sticks to painted covers. I liked his rendition of Danny in Secret War.

I'll keep reading for a while even if it's not Fraction, just to give whoever takes over a chance before dropping it. It's a little disheartening all the same, though, as I just started getting Immortal Iron Fist again since dropping it after #6 due to lack of funds. Nice to see the title's quality is still so high; I'd hate to have to drop it again in the future should that change with a new creative team's induction.

Agreed. His flash back sequences have lso been great for the book. So if it came to drawing the book, i'd dig it.

Someone new would be interesting. The question though is who?
