View Full Version : Lamest ever fictional race?

We had a thread for the greatest ever fictional race, but what about those at the opposite end of the scale? What would you say was the most illogical, ineffectual, poorly thought out or just plain silliest fictional race in the history of fiction?
My vote? 'The Mriswith' from Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series. That series, for anyone fortunate enough not to have encountered it yet, is generic fantasy that occasionally devolves into weird porn. But that's hardly the point . . . the Mriswith were wizards, who, in some time period that that preceded the events of the series by several thousand years, traded their magic powers - and I'm talking serious magic here, magic with which they could do pretty much anything - traded them for the ability to become invisible lizards.
Which, when you think about it, makes so little sense that if you expressed it as a number, it would probably be negative.

Elves, simply from overuse and exhaustion of the concept.

Hmm ... maybe the Druffs, from an old Fantastic Four comic. They're like cosmic Tribbles.
I'm thinking ... The Tribbitites. You gotta be kidding. Toad men in toad-shaped ships. Not one of Kirby's better creations.

The Yhuuzan Vong from the StarWars: New Jedi Order series.
Half way through that horrendous affair I realized I'd waist several dozen good hours of my life reading a series about a species that was essentially Reverse-Borg.

I had pretty much the exact same experience. I haven't picked up a Star Wars book sense.

Ditto. The Expanded Universe of StarWars was dead to me once that came out, I've kept up on what went on afterwards and it's sickened me even more than the NJO itself. StarWars stopped bein' StarWars when that series began.

I was never fond of hobbits myself. Pesky little hairy-feet gnomes....
On the other side of the spectre, I´m in LOVE with the Viera from FFXII.

I will not mention his vile name here in this good thread. :D

It is really bad when a single movie gives you TWO lousy races in the SAME movie.
Elves, simply from overuse and exhaustion of the concept.
Elves are hot, and therefore marketable.
I still like them.
Um....so there! :p

Pleaase Beren, Bree already has that title, more like Empress of Geeks
Bree being the Empress of Geeks makes me wanna be Emporer of Geeks. I be like the fat drunken emporer that doesn't pay any attention to her. Then Bree would cheat on me with her lebian lover. It would be like living in Roman Porno, that would be so cool!

Great minds think alike. When I saw "lame fictional race" my mind went straight to "Flash vs. Superman". Which face it... as great as these characters are, was kind of lame. :D

Yeah! Just 'cause they've mastered interplanetary travel doesn't mean they have to know... no, no, no, fuck it, I can't say it! What the fuck, Shyamalan?! What the fuck!?

Well, he had to do something new - redoing the germs plotline would have been boring.

How about coming up with a plot that wasn't pure crap? "Oh, wow, shit happens for a reason. Jesus sent stupid aliens to Earth to teach some anti-Semite widower a valuable lesson about something." Pfffffffft!

Like boarding up a door doesn't really work if the door swings open from the outside. For those of you wondering what I'm talking about replay the scene were Mel boarders up the doors. ;)

It's my favourite Shyamalan movie by far, but I think the whole ending is awful. Not nearly as bad as the one in The Village mind you.

No. He is refering the a fictional race of mer-creatures from World of Warcraft.

The reason people hate and detest these things, besides its annoying battlecry,is the fact that people in chat constantly TALK about them. Hell, there are even games played about them: (Murloc movies...The Passion of the Murloc,The Murloc Strikes Back,Back To the Murloc, and so forth).
Only Chuck Norris gets more chat time in WoW than murlocs, and even that is open to debate.
Yes...we hate murlocs. Especially in trade chat.
