Not to steal the thunder from the other recent SWAMP THING thread, but I particularly wanted to discuss this book.
Volume 4 always seems to come under a lot of fire. And I've never understood why. For those of you who didn't like the book, I'd certainly like to hear your comments.
Personally, I could really dig it. I thought it started a tad too slow, but by the time Josh Dysart was on the book it was really taking off. It's just too bad that the title got axed right when he was hitting his zenith.
So, if you like this volume, give out a shout! And for you naysayers, do the same! :)

Well Swamp thing is a hard book to live up to after Moore's brilliant run. Although some have managed too. But volume four not only had bad art but the story lines and plots where mediocre. Although when Dysart came onboard he started to craft some interesting stories. But Diggle's run was pretty uninteresting. Though it was awesome having Tefe back in the title.

I've yet to be impressed by an Andy Diggle story. I had no interest in the characters and the Godzilla type ending to his run was just silly.
Joshua Dysart's run just continued on in the same crappy vein for me.
I love the art though.

I feel you there although, his Hellblazer is quite good if you haven't read some of it already.

I had sort of a love-hate affair with the book. I loved Enrique Breccia's art on the book (Tim Green II's fill-in, too), but most of the storylines didn't do much for me with the exception of "Healing the Breach", which had a weird cosmic vibe that harkened back to a lot of late '80s/early '90s pre-Vertigo books. It wasn't great, but it was interesting, cross dimensional CEO stuff that I've enjoyed in the past. Towards the end of the run, it seemed to me that Dysart was more interested in writing clever "Cajun" dialogue than telling a good story, and that drove me from the book.
I generally like Dysart's work, though. Loved Conan and the Midnight God, and I'm not even a big Conan fan.

I keep hearing that. I'll have to give it a try.

I thought that Millar's run on Swamp Thing vol. 2 was great closure. It was difficult to get into Vol. 4.
Going back to Holland, Abby and Arcane just didnt interest me - wouldve liked to read a completely different Swamp Thing. I did dig the artwork though.

I gave up on Swamp Thing after Moore, and prefer to pretend that none of it had been published. I hear good things about Millar's run, but I just don't care, as Moore gave me the ending I wanted, and I'm more than satisfied to leave things at that.

I enjoyed the run myself - Alan's Swampy was definitely the pinnacle for me, but I pretty much like all the incarnations of Swamp Thing. I like the character and mostly all of the supporting cast members from each run.
