Marvel League AM Match: unkiedev v. Nyssane

Greetings, Marvel Zombies! Welcome to the seventh match in this year's Marvel League, where teams compete against one another comparing who has devised the best strategy to beat the other!

A few rules:

No ring-outs.
Characters must fight in character.
You must have at least 100 posts to vote.

And now on to our match...

unkiedev's Unthinkables (D'Spayre, Gog, Zzzax, Dracula, Black Talon)

vs.

Nyssane's Femme Fatales (Black Mamba, Vapor, Ruby Thursday, Poundcakes, Mysteria, Gazelle, Scorpia, Bombshell )

Here is the strategy for my first fight:

Due to excessive sunlight, the Lord Dracula shall sit this fight out.

At the beginning of the fight the mighty, 300 foot tall Space Monster known as GOG shall teleport across the battle arena with a hearty "clack" of his teleportation gauntlets. Reappearing 15 feet above the enemy team, he shall assume a "Cannonball" position as he is falling and land on his enemies alien-butt first. Upon landing, he will shift his weight from one cheek to the next, Crushing the opposing femme fatals with his powerful posterior. There will be blood, though not necessarily his. Should any floozies escape from being sat upon by Gog's massive, scaly extra-terrestrial heiny he shall smite them with his mighty tail! BWA HA HA HA!!!! This can all be accomplished within the first 3 seconds of the match, so I believe this strategy should prove effective against Black Mamba, Bombshell, Mysteria, Scorpia, Poundcakes and Gazelle. They may be powerful, but they are all merely human. Nestled in his crack, GOG welcomes their pathetic squirmings.

Worst comes to worst, this tactic certainly places GOG strategically on enemy lines, trapping the ladies between himself and their opponents.

The rest of my team shall take defensive stances to A) see who survives/escapes and B) prepare attacks. If anybody survives, such as Gazelle or Scorpia with their heightened reflexes, we shall send in ZZZax, the being of pure energy. ZZZAX hungers for the electricity found in the human brain, and he shall fly at survivors to get it! If Ruby Thursday survives then ZZZax shall enter her robotic head first, digesting all of the energy inside of this living machine, ultimately destroying it! ZZZax can surely control her electric brain to force her to aid in the fight against her human team-mates, should any survive GOG.

I'd imagine the women of my esteemed antagonist's team may experience deep feelings of despair from having a hideous monster dropped on them from above. This despair is naught but FUEL for the evil Lord D'spayre. I imagine Vapor shall turn to gas at the beginning of the fight, and therefore be relatively safe from GOG. If Vapor does survive then D'Spayre shall use his Powers to place a fearful thought into her mind: That she CANNOT transform back into her human state, that she is trapped as gas for the rest of her days. Recalling her FIRST super-battle where this very nightmare almost came true, She shall panic and grow more fearful, filling the Lord D'spayre with more energy! D'Spayre would make this fear overpowering until she would transform back to be sure she could do it. D'Spayre will not let her see the truth, and though human, she will remain deluded that she is stuck in a gaseous state, and dispersing fast. ZZZax can happily feed on her human brains while D'spayre keeps her distracted. Should ZZZax prove too busy, the Black Talon can earn his keep by slashing at her with his clawed gloves.

While GOG's glutes keep most of the team out of commission, D'Spayre and ZZZax can cut down any other survivors one by one. A "Shock and Awe" attack to be sure, but against a rag-tag group of freaky über-femmes, I think it shall prove victorious!

Nyssane's strategy:

CHAPTER ONE:

There is not very much room to hide for the Femme Fatales in this open arena, but the enemies are quite large and hard to miss, so as soon as the battle begins, they spot them across the way and prepare to strike. All attacks occur simultaneously, unless specified otherwise, and each chapter happens right after the other.

GAZELLE --
As the fastest member of the group, Gazelle transforms into her mystical form (if not in it already), and rushes towards the opposing team at superhuman speed, dodging any incoming attacks. Her legs are extremely powerful, and as soon as she approaches the monstrous enemies, she dashes towards D’Spayre and hits him from behind with her hooves. This should be able to hold off any emotional waves D’Spayre might try to project on my team. She continues her assault while the rest of the Femme Fatales make their way to the enemy group.

SCORPIA --
Scorpia’s suit enables her to move at a speed five times the normal human pace. She uses her speed to dodge any long-range attacks while running towards the enemies, shooting at them with her plasma blasts. She aims towards Dracula, who might be attacking with his own long-range weapons. If Dracula turns into a misty form, Scorpia will simply target another enemy to hold them off for the first chapter, until Dracula returns to his physical form.

RUBY THURSDAY --
Ruby Thursday immediately shoots out four tentacles from her orb-like head, wrapping them around Black Mamba, Poundcakes, Vapor (in physical form), and Bombshell. She also forms a pair of wings [Defenders #77], which catapults her towards the enemy group at a rapid pace, bringing her three teammates along with her, all the while having a shield right in front of her to protect her from any oncoming attacks. As soon as she is close enough to the monsters, she continues to hold up the giant shield to protect her, Black Mamba, Poundcakes, and Bombshell from any projectiles that are aimed at them.

VAPOR --
Vapor, as soon as Ruby Thursday brings her to closer to the enemies, turns into her gas form. Any physical attacks will immediately seep through her while she makes her way to Zzzax. As soon as she’s close enough, she transforms her body into hydrogen and collides into Zzzax’s electric body, causing an explosion which should be sufficient to take out Zzzax from the battle completely, while rendering Vapor useless for the rest of the battle . If Zzzax is indeed able to recover from her attack, Vapor should be able to recover just as quickly and proceed to do the attack once more. If Zzzax ever gets close to Black Mamba, Ruby Thursday, Poundcakes, or Bombshell before Vapor does this attack, she merely does it sooner as she stays quite close to the quartet.

BLACK MAMBA --
As soon as Ruby Thursday lands, Black Mamba should be close enough to telepathically pluck a person from Black Talon’s mind. By now, he most probably conjured some zombies, but as soon as Black Mamba generates the darkforce in the shape of someone Black Talon cares for, Black Talon should lose any telepathic hold he has over the zombies. The darkforce should be enough to hypnotize Black Talon and then suffocate him, knocking him out of the battle.

POUNDCAKES --
Poundcakes leaves the protected shield of Ruby Thursday and hurls herself into the air closer to the massive bulk of Gog. Her seismic boots create sufficient tremors in the arena ground. Gog, if he was standing, should be forced to the ground due to the vibrations in the ground. This should merely serve as a way to hold off Gog from doing any heavy damage to the Femme Fatales.

MYSTERIA --
Mysteria does not get grabbed by Ruby Thursday and instead travels her own way nearer to the enemies. Immediately when the battle starts, she uses her Mist-Sticks to create a massive amount of smog around her. She then rushes towards the enemies and from the duration of the first chapter, makes her way to the enemy side.

BOMBSHELL --
While standing behind Ruby Thursday’s protective shield, Bombshell chucks several bombs from her bag at the enemies, aiming mainly for Gog (reeling from Poundcakes seismic attack) and Dracula (being attacked from a distance by Scorpia). She basically aids her teammates during chapter one.

CHAPTER TWO

Note: Black Talon and Zzzax have been defeated.

RUBY THURSDAY --
With Zzzax and Black Talon down, Ruby Thursday stops protecting the others and molds her head into two giant fists. She rushes at D’Spayre, who is still being kicked around by Gazelle. Her giant fists smash into D’Spayre, pummeling him into submission. He should not be able to telepathically assault Ruby, as she has no actual brain. Her computer mind should be unaffected by any illusions or depression caused by D’Spayre. If he teleports to a different part of the arena, Ruby immediately spots him wherever he may go. The arena is not too large and she should be able to see where he turns up and get to him to continue her attack.

GAZELLE --
Gazelle continues to kick at D’Spayre, not doing major damage but being enough to distract D’Spayre. When Ruby joins in, Gazelle backs off a little, only kicking D’Spayre when she finds a proper moment.

BOMBSHELL --
While Gog is down after Poundcakes’ tremor, Bombshell whips out several bombs and bombards him with explosives. They probably won’t do much to harm him, but they should weaken him slightly to allow for Poundcakes to continue.

POUNDCAKES --
Poundcakes continues to jump on the ground, the earth below Gog trembling constantly. He shouldn’t be able to get up while Poundcakes continues rocking the world below him.

SCORPIA & MYSTERIA --
Scorpia makes her way to Dracula while continuing to shoot at him with her plasma bursts. As soon as she gets to him, she grapples with him and uses her stinger to try to stab him. Her personal forcefield should protect her from any mortal blows Dracula will be able to cause, and if he turns into mist, there’s always Mysteria, who has made her way to the side as well. If Dracula is in his mist form, Mysteria uses her smog to smother him (while Scorpia rushes away to not get trapped in the smog), causing him to attempt to flee in physical form or choke, allowing Scorpia to strike once again. If Dracula does not turn to mist form, Mysteria still attacks, only this time using her Mist-Sticks to paralyze Dracula upon contact. She then sucks all the smog away while Scorpia returns to finish Dracula off. Either way, he’ll go down with the two women attacking.

BLACK MAMBA --
Black Mamba searches Gog’s mind and finds someone - anyone - who Gog cares about from his home planet. Because he is an alien, Black Mamba should have some trouble searching his mind and spends the entire second chapter looking.

VAPOR --
Vapor is incapacitated after her attack on Zzzax.

CHAPTER THREE

[I]Note: Dracula has been defeated.

BLACK MAMBA --
After searching Gog’s mind, she should have found someone who Gog cares for. She forms the darkforce in the shape of that creature and floats the darkforce over to D’Spayre, who is being attacked by Ruby Thursday. Poundcakes ends her stomping and allows Gog to hypnotically travel over to the darkforce shape. The hypnotic image should force Gog to reach out for the darkforce in lust, his giant hands crushing D’Spayre. Ruby Thursday and Gazelle back off, and Black Mamba releases her hold on the darkforce immediately once she notices Gog grabbing at it, as if she had it connected to her, she would be knocked unconscious. Gog’s gigantic grasp should crush the life out of D’Spayre, knocking him out for the rest of the battle.

POUNDCAKES & GAZELLE --
As soon as Black Mamba does her move, Poundcakes and Gazelle rush towards Gog, kicking at both his legs. They’re not nearly as strong as Gog, but Poundcakes’ seismic boots and Gazelle’s mystically powerful legs should allow for some damage to his legs. They proceed to attack from various points on the ground, inevitably knocking him over.

MYSTERIA --
After Gog falls, Mysteria pops up and envelops herself in mist. She makes her way to Gog, and jabs at him with her mist-sticks. The shock of paralysis should be enough to stop him from swatting at any of the other Femme Fatales.

SCORPIA & BOMBSHELL --
Scorpia blasts at Gog from afar, shooting rapidly at him while he is down, while Bombshell chucks bombs.

RUBY THURSDAY --
Ruby Thursday jumps on top of Gog, forming a giant sharp, swinging pendulum out of her head and brings it down on Gog’s neck. While he has incredible durability, he will undoubtedly suffer from a sharp blow to a sensitive part of his body such as his neck, especially while being assaulted at from all sides.

Yes, just as I predicted Vapor, Gazelle and Scorpia can get awy from GOG, but ZZZax takes out Gazelle/Scorpia and D'Spayre takes out Vapor. Just a few notes:

A REBUTTAL, by Unkiedev:

1. Ruby Thursday does NOT have super strength. She has been seen creating wings so SHE can fly, to my knowledge she has never been seen carrying the weight of four extra people…one of whom, Poundcakes, is a very big girl. Further, I'm not sure how great Ruby's head multitasking is: She's been seen creating Whips OR arrows, wings OR tentacles, but I'm not sure she's been seen creating both at the same time. There are limits.

Even if all of the above wasn't a factor, I still don't think she has time to get all of her team-mates en-tentacled and be airborne (at all) before GOG comes tumblin' down.

2. I believe I take out Poundcakes in the opening salvo, but let's say YOU, the voters, decide I don't. Well, my esteemed opponent's strategy of having Poundcakes constantly send tremors across the arena to take down the monstrous GOG is unsafe and unpractical. FIRST, tremors of such magnitude would disrupt everybody around her, and secondly, toppling GOG would cause him to fall on all combatants, crushing all. Nyssane says himself, regarding Ruby's attacks in round two, that "The arena is not too large." I know D'Spayre, an unkillable demon and ZZZax, a creature of pure electricity could probably be alright if GOG fell on them…can the very human Femme Fatals say the same?

3. Again, IF GOG doesn't defeat many of the Fatals, Bombshells bombs would have little or no effect. Further, Black Mamba plans on searching his mind for a past loved one to exploit. GOG is an alien of unknown origins. Maybe he has no brain? Maybe his brain is comprised entirely of an unreadable material. Even if his mind could be read by a human, who's to say anything she would see in there would make sense? Who says his species is capable of love?

By definition he, and his mind, are completely alien to us. I don't think Mamba would make heads or tales of his brain, even if he has one…which I think he doesn't. I think his species is in a symbiotic relationship with giant space clams who live in their skulls for protection. :o

As much as I think instant TKO's are a bit overused...I really can't fault what unkiedev as done. It's a relative small arena and Gog is a big fat ass. It certainly would take out several members of Nyssane's team. I think mop up duty falls in favor again with unkiedev.

I'm probably gonna vote for him, but I'm gonna wait and see if Nyssane can convince me otherwise.

In GOG's early appearances he was about 30-60 feet, but he grew bigger in Astonishing tales 17-18. Han Solo says "He's big enough for you, old man."

I haven't read any posts yet except for his strategy, so...

GOG'S MOVE: that's assuming all of the girls are standing close together (which is an incredibly cheap move I might add). Poundcakes is resilient enough to survive the encounter with Gog, and Black Mamba is athletic enough that should she see a huge mammoth beast over her, she'd dodge it. Gazelle and Scorpia most certainly survive the attack.

Vapor immediately attacks Zzzax, so he'd be out and unable to hurt Ruby Thursday. Vapor's body's normal state IS the gas form, so stopping her from turning into human form wouldn't do much to her except stop your team from attacking her. This shouldn't upset her at all as she is well used to living in this state and almost revels in living in it. Also, what would Black Talon slashing at her in her gas state have anything to do? Yes, just as I predicted Vapor, Gazelle and Scorpia can get awy from GOG, but ZZZax takes out Gazelle/Scorpia and D'Spayre takes out Vapor. Just a few notes:

1. Ruby Thursday does NOT have super strength. She has been seen creating wings so SHE can fly, to my knowledge she has never been seen carrying the weight of four extra people…one of whom, Poundcakes, is a very big girl. Further, I'm not sure how great Ruby's head multitasking is: She's been seen creating Whips OR arrows, wings OR tentacles, but I'm not sure she's been seen creating both at the same time. There are limits.

Ruby Thursday has been seen extending tentacles and grabbing things, her malleable head can do anything she wants it to do. Read I Heart Marvel: Outlaws, and it'll show you all the Ruby multitasking you need to see as proof.

Well, my esteemed opponent's strategy of having Poundcakes constantly send tremors across the arena to take down the monstrous GOG is unsafe and unpractical. FIRST, tremors of such magnitude would disrupt everybody around her, and secondly, toppling GOG would cause him to fall on all combatants, crushing all. Nyssane says himself, regarding Ruby's attacks in round two, that "The arena is not too large." I know D'Spayre, an unkillable demon and ZZZax, a creature of pure electricity could probably be alright if GOG fell on them…can the very human Femme Fatals say the same?

That's why Poundcakes gets close to Gog and only sends out minor tremors, not huge effing earthquakes.


3. Again, IF GOG doesn't defeat many of the Fatals, Bombshells bombs would have little or no effect. Further, Black Mamba plans on searching his mind for a past loved one to exploit. GOG is an alien of unknown origins. Maybe he has no brain? Maybe his brain is comprised entirely of an unreadable material. Even if his mind could be read by a human, who's to say anything she would see in there would make sense? Who says his species is capable of love?

That's why I didn't say love, I said someone he has any closeness to at all. He worked with the Sinister Six, for crying out loud.

I think it's completely underestimating my team and that's the thing I hate most about some strategies. Dracula's not there, Black Talon is never used (except to slash on someone who is clearly unaffected by physical attacks)... it's just kind of insulting to think that someone shouldn't have to use all their characters against a bigger group of characters simply because mine are "human" and not "monsters."

Looking back at ukiedev's strategy and reading Nyssane's posts I've actually started to change my mind.

I think quite a few of Nyssane's team escape Gog's fat ass stomp. I don't see how D'Spayre keeping Vapor in vapor form, which she likes, will do anything. Also how does Black Talon slashing her do anything? I swing at the fog all the time, nothing happens.

Also, w/ Mysteri'a paralyzing sticks, I think Gog would actually be taken out after he lands on her.

So I'm actually leaning more towards Nyssane's team now. Besides the Gog move, I don't think a lot of unkiedev's strategy works that well.

GOG'S MOVE: that's assuming all of the girls are standing close together (which is an incredibly cheap move I might add). Poundcakes is resilient enough to survive the encounter with Gog, and Black Mamba is athletic enough that should she see a huge mammoth beast over her, she'd dodge it. Gazelle and Scorpia most certainly survive the attack.GOG is very large. Look, I'm 6' 1". If I made a cannonball that takes up maybe 1 and a half square feet. GOG is 300'. That would make his rump about 75 feet large. Your argument is that, with a gigantic roaring monster about to fall on her, Black Mamba has both the wherewithall, agility and speed to "Dodge" a 75 foot ass falling on her head. No. No she doesn't.

You don't have D'Spayre turning her into solid in your strategy, though... you only have her staying in her gas form, which would not let Zzzax or Talon defeat her. Also, Vapor was only afraid when it first happened to her, she since has grown accustomed to her powers and actually loves being in her gas form. Read Incredible Hulk in the 390's... it shows her delighting in battling Hector with her powers. She could easily overcome D'Spayre, especially with the track record of characters who battled D'Spayre before (Cyclops, who has faced much worse tragedies? I mean c'mon). If Zzzax is going after Scorpia and Gazelle, Vapor would be relatively close and be able to strike Zzzax, especially since Gazelle is attacking D'Spayre and stopping him from using his powers on Vapor, as stated in my strategy.

I believe the events go more like this:

1. In the event that Gazelle can sprint 75 feet in 3 seconds to avoid being crushed by GOG, she then has to sprint across the field to attack D'Spayre. This will take a few moments. My team shall wait.

2. Vapor starts across the field, but moves slower as she has no super speed.
D'Spayre begins attacking Vapor with Fear as she slowly approaches.

3. Gazelle arrives at my monsters before Vapor to attack D'Spayre. ZZZax is waiting. He takes her down easy.

4. D'Spayre has made Vapor afraid enough about never being human again in order for her to change back. In that moment ZZZax flys like electricity and attacks her.

I've been saying this the whole time...heck, it's in my strategy. You don't seem to have any response to Vapor's speed.

After doing a few of these leagues it's always apparent that a few people vote with their hearts, not with their minds. Believe me, I can manipulate my soldiers across the map with subtlety and guile, but one of my team members is a 300 foot tall teleporting monster. I didn't make the rules. It's not my fault my opponent brought a knife to a gun fight. Maybe I should be more chivalrous and pulled my punches...but you get one chance in war.

And make no mistake, this is a War.

As for Dracula, the guy has an extreme allergy to Sunlight, and this fight takes place in an open, sunny arena. Those who are crying foul, I imagine, might also have cried fould if I had Drac stand in a shadow, or run to the safety of the bleachers to attack with rats from affar. Drac made his choice, and I stand by Dracula's descision.

And Gog gets his rear end exploded by The Bomb woman,
Gazelle Gets D'spayre at the start of the match, so he doesn't get VApor.
Vapor and Zzax fight eachother to a double K.O.

Dracula's off brooding somewhere.
Black Talon vs Gazelle and Scorpia.
None of this was written so it was up to Interpretation.
the corpses around would all be smooshed by Gog, so they couldn't be zombified, and he has no control over them anyway.

Ok, here is the deal with the No Boogie/Pacheco vote in this match. Basically, we couldnt agree on the winner. It was so close. And since we can only vote once, we ran outta time on deciding.

We want to support Marvel league in every way possible, but when you have to share a vote, it makes it rather difficult. Sorry guys. Great match.
