What will you do with your hour?
In an effort to show what a simple cutback on power usage can do, EarthHour participants are going to shut off their lights for one hour beginning at 8 pm on March 29th. Chicago, Atlanta, Phoenix, and San Francisco are the big cities that have already signed on as partners in this plan.
It'll be interesting to see how this catches on, being as I only heard of it because of Myspace.

Funfact: I live in San Francisco, and had no idea I was supposed to turn my lights off for an hour.
And it's unlikely I am, just cause I'm a dick like that. They should have told me a month in advance.
Besides, I'm sure all the big ass building will turn theres off, leaving me free to have everylight on in the house.
...Or, they wont, cause they dont count for some reason, and I'm going to ECO-Hell.
Oh well.

Sounds like a great time to be a mugger.

The Transamerica building shut down most (but not all of) its lights the last time they did Lights Out SF.
No one really noticed the event, as I recall. A few restaurants went to candles.

It sounds like a good way to raise awareness, and maybe a fun way to get families involved in talking about the environment. I'm just hoping that it sticks this time, and doesn't become a fad like the last time. I wish anyone participating the best of luck.
As for me, my green participation comes from the tomatoes I hope to grow this year, if the drought permits. :)

I'd be more likely to go buy more stuff that I could turn on than I would to turn a single thing off for this nonsense.
