Yeah, Betsy was great in Reload, easily the best the character's been since the insta-ninja metamorphosis imo. Betsy was one of the precious few things CC really got "right" during this period.

Dunno how she fared during Exiles though, New Excalibur scared me off CC.

Yeah I miss that too. If I had to pick my favoreite incarnation of Betsy it would most definitely be british in the Aussie days. She was so morraly grey and when she fought the Marauders it was marvelous. She was always so badass and it was hella sexy. As for what Jarrod said. LOL

Her outback days were great. The proper british lady with quite the warrior inside.

Her stories seemed to have gotten quite convoluted after that.

Yes...some people claim Claremont fetishized women....but he did know how to make them strong, layered, and interesting without losing their woman-ness.

If Betsy went to X-Force, I'd like to see a variation of her Days of Future Tense look; sleeveless, pants, hairpins and (most importantly) some nice cleavage for those sloppy gigantic funbags!

Actually, I think a simplified version of Salva's X-Treme design might work too. Yeah, it was still buttfloss, but it was a cool look, it was barely used and it'd actually work for X-Force visually.

I think she needs to show SOME skin, otherwise she falls prey to the same wrongs of Dazzler's current costumes. I think having her arms bare would be an improvement, but I do think she'd look great in a sleek black costume like this one.

I think I've figured it out now. From Psylocke's butt floss costume, to the garter belt costume and now to this one, her costumes are always flawed from the waist down. Otherwise, there was such promise!

Psylocke is one of those characters I dont mind seeing some skin from, it fits. She's a sexy character. I'm not a big fan of cheesecake, but sometimes it works for the character. I can even live with the butt floss, as it's pretty common in comics. The garters however.......no. :wink:

For some reason this made me giggle. its like a cartoon when the badass hero goes into the dark room, you see a pair of eyes.. go to commercial, come back and the hero(heroine) is all KO'ed and what not.. lol



And a sad question to ask is exactly who is Psylocke? I know her from three points on time in 616 universe. The first and the reason why I love her, from the beginning of joining the X-Men to the Siege Perilous. Then From Lady Mandarin to X-Men #7 which was a bit of a different personality, but explained I suppose.
Then Betsy when she was resurrected until she left in New Excalibur who had sass and all that, but I prefer less "WARRIOR!!" Betsy and more "I'm a proper lady...who'll have you put to death in a gruesome way should you cross me".

Id like the proper "killer" back also, but sadly we are in the age of EVERYBODY IS A NINJA"

I think ninja Betsy is less interesting.
I still love her, but it's just like she always wanted to be a warrior as British Betsy and it was always something underlying that lashed out every so often.
Then she body swaps and from what I gather, she's just all broody and mysterious but still now she's her warrior self and sexual and there's no more real mystery just the illusion of mystery. I wish Betsy was more covered up again and proper that let herself go every so often rather than her always being the warrior and the sexy lady.

And then at the end of the issue Psylocke KISSES Morph on the fuckin mouth, that's the last thing she needs under her belt another kiss with a fuckin teammate. UGH CLAREMONT!!!!!!!

She doesn't appear after that, but she isn't shown killed or mentioned that she gets killed. And only Juggernaut dies in this issue, well Syndicate dies at the beginning as well actually.

EDIT -- and when did she ever make out with Mystic? He flirted with her, but they've never had physical contact.. and AoA makeout session was the influence of that stupid whore Bloodwitch or whatever so I try to ignore that one all together. ;)

Wonderful, I've wanted Juggernaut dead since the Annual where he pretty much killed Gambit. And Syndicate is no loss for me.

Wonderful, well, my thoughts are that Ultimate Betsy is more powerful. She's referred to as the most powerful psi in the UK. She fought off Proteus for a minute. Her psi-grenades were absurdly powerful, she said a low-level one left her ex unable to talk for a week. And it seems she could produce psi-blades before her body switch, according to the cover at least and the Kwannon she traded bodies with in that universe hasn't been said to have had any power to profit from.

616 Betsy, though still powerful, her psi-blasts were said to kill if she tried hard enough, but it seems like she has less power on hers since a low level one doesn't seem to leave people without the ability to speak for a week.
Her advantage though would be precog since Ultimate Betsy hasn't shown up as having that capability yet.

Conclusion: Ultimate Betsy for the win.

Honestly, I just think it doesn't make sense and it's a bit of a double standard. If Storm saved Cyclops from a horde of brainwashed Morlocks, I wouldn't expect Cyclops to kiss her in gratitude, nor would I expect Captain Britain to kiss Dazzler if she saved him from a group of Shadow X-Men.

I really have no interest in Psylocke becoming involved with anyone for anytime soon. I don't think she needs another relationship under her belt, the Sabretooth/Psylocke one looked like it was being slowly built but dropped THANK God when I guess CC found out his title was on the chopping block.

I don't mind her being playful/flirtful with her teammates that doesn't make you a whore, but I don't want her randomly making out with dudes especially ones that are already taken.

I am rereading the Acts of Vengence storyline. Well pretty uch all of Fabians run. Goodness i never realized how much I despised Kwannon until this very moment. She ruined everything. Well Fabian actually ruined everything but Kwannon holds some responsibility as well. This whole things needs a retcon of the ultimate kind.

It's too late to complain now though, whats done is done. Kind of like the Draco...but were I in charge I'd write a story where Kwannon comes back and they are returned to the correct bodies. I like Betsy in the Kwannon body but if Kwannon were to return I think I'd want her in her own body. I always felt bad for Kwannon, she was one of those characters that was made just to be killed off.

Kwannon is a wretch. The only reason she should ever come back is as a zombie in a Dead Girl mini and die once agin on the first page.

That is one hella sexy Psylocke. I still like to fantasize that Betsy was always in her original body and Spiral just warped her. Kwannon was a cyborg created to look like pre-asian psylocke and she has always been in her origianl body that is why Jamie brought her back in the asian form.

Yes i have always wanted a Betsy/Elektra meeting. Resolve some of the Hand issues between them, maybe even start up their own european version of the Hand(If they both went the baddie route). Plus I really want to see them fight. Maybe even train together. At least then maybe we could find out what martial arts Betsy is supposed to know.

I loved her look in the show, She was part asian part euro, so it worked.
One thing you have to remember Emma is the "NEW" face of the X-women. Show they have to show her as more powerful and adept at being a telepath.

STRONGLY against at the time and for a long while after, but now after all these years I kinda don't mind and wish the dynamic had been explored more. It was totally sloppy and lol, but I wouldn't want it retconned or anything.

I don't think Betsy's transformation was meant to be a mix of Chinese and Euro features originally. I think Logan recognized her because her new body resembled her old one, it was just a "Chinese" version of it, if that makes any sense. So if Betsy was born Chinese, that was what she would've looked like. I guess a better example is if you were to take an African American and tried to do a white version of him, he would look different, but still have certain physical characteristics that were unique to him, regardless of the ethnic change. It's kinda like that old thread where we did Simpson versions of X-Men characters. They'd been "simpsonfied" so they didn't look like regular people, but you could still tell which simpsonfied x-character the drawing was meant to represent. I think that was the case with Betsy being transformed.

I guess the immunity thing wouldn't work against her siblings and ..Lady Mandarin is actually Betsy from alternate reality so I think she can be considered as one.

Ohhhh thanks! That image is really cool! Chun Li and Psylocke are amazing separate, but combined... I don't know if the world is ready for that much awesome. But the artist made it a vs pic. I simply can't choose who I like more as both are two of my favorite characters. The strongest woman in the world or the badass psychic brit? Just give a brief list of the things you want for her (her look, her power set, her team, her place in the MU, etc.)

Here's mine:

-The body: Keep the merged/Asian body--I think she's got a ton of history in it and has accepted herself in it, and making her go backward or into something new would just be cruel.

-The power set: Telepathy, telekinesis, and the occasional precognitive flash--All punctuated by the triumphant return of the Butterfly Energy Signature! :biggrin:

-The team: I'd like her to either join up with Captain Britain and MI: 13 or in X-Force if they plan to move Domino out of it. She needs a strong position as the skilled fighter and tactician we know she is, and I really don't think she'd do well in the massive team of Uncanny. Plus, who wouldn't love to see she and Warren have it out over her death and resurrection?

-The romance: I say keep her single for a while! Let the girl breathe, and if you're going to send her to England with her brother then hell, why not let her be romanced by a completely new character or maybe form a vicious love-triangle with Dane Whitman and Faiza!

Okay mine...

-The body: Keep the current body. It's pretty vague actually whether she looked (wholely) asian or eurasian after Jamie resurrected her.

-The power set: I'd love her to have the TP back, but always feel that she hasn't use her TK to the fullest potential in terms of skills. So I think she should have only her TK. The Butterfly Aura/Energy Signature must be back IMO. It'd be a mixture of having Swords and lots of Butterflies.:smile:

-The team: Cap Brit and MI:13! As long as Marvel promise that they won't cancel the book for at least 25 issues from the time she join the book.
Finally working together with her brother in a team and learning more about her Otherworld roots.
Oh.. and I'd love to see Betsy actually have a job or running her own business. Especially in the fashion industry.
The second option is X-Force. She'd replace either Domino or Wolfsbane in that book. I always love Betsy-Wolverine friendship. and sorta think that Betsy is made for an action packed-book like X-Force.

-The romance: Yeah.. she should stay single..at least for a moment. I actually have a soft spot for Betsy and Warren as a couple. But if Marvel going to hook them up again. I hope they won't do it any time soon. Let's Betsy enjoy her single life for awhile.. hehe..

Well, I can't say for certain because I don't have the Acts of Vengeance issues accessible anymore, but Logan only recognized Betsy after her mask was removed and he saw her face. In the original arc it was also said the Hand did the transformation through surgery and magic, so she was at least coming from a "british base" still.

Yeah, this was the retcon. Originally though, there was no Kwannon, the Hand did all the plastic surgery and mental conditioning themselves, and Spiral's involvement was either a figment of Betsy's imagination or her (and Mojo) keeping tabs under the radar.

The latest Uncanny is issue #505 that came out last month. Issue #508 will start with the new story-arc focusing on the Sisterhood. So I think it'll be a good start for you.

Betsy clearly said her stance regarding Scott-Emma relationship. But I'm not sure whether I want she to come to Scott nor having an affair with him. On the other hand, I wouldn't mind seeing Scott having more certain 'thoughts' about her.. and of course found out by Emma.

But yeah.. I agree about she's being in X-Force. The book is awesome at the moment. She had history with Wolverine, Archangel, and X-23. And I'd love to see her interaction with the rest of the casts (Warpath, Elixir, Domino, Wolfsbane). Yost has written her in the past (New Excalibur #8). And I think he could do wonders with Betsy.

LOL we're super hyper excited! I love it! I didn't think about the possibility of Betsy going 'evil', that'd certainly be a plot twist. This Sirterhood arc looks promising! I've found a couple more teasing by Fraction.

Let's see: after LOVELORN comes SISTERHOOD, about, well, the Sisterhood. Who they are and what they're up to we've been building to for a while, and all kinds of stuff happens. The team gets bigger-- and smaller. The world gets way more dangerous. The biggest fight scene of my career. Grave robbery. Tremendous violence and change. There's the UNCANNY ANNUAL which is called "White Queen, Dark Reign" and it's super-important and was a blast to write. It's also got some tremendous art by Daniel Acuña and Mitch Breitweiser. Then there's a short thing that spins out of LOVELORN that might be an issue or two and then in the summer...

UNCANNY 510 has the biggest fight scene of my career, and i'm the guy that wrote Iron Fist punching out a train.

Great to know Betsy'll be included in the biggest fighting scene that's been written by Fraction. But then I was reminded that Sisterhood story will be drawn by .....Greg Land. God I hope he'll do the scene justice.

There're talks that Jean might also be returning this year. With the whole Messiah story moving on.. and Marvel been teasing us that 2009 is the year of the return for the X-Men, I think it's a perfect time for Jean to come back (and possibly Kwannon too). Not sure what role Kwannon will play..

When Fraction said... "stuff happen" I instantly think of Layla Miller.. Could be anything though..

As for your views on a Psylocke/Elektra mini....i couldn't agree more. I have always wanted to see them team-up ever sense Betsy was first given her asian appearance. They beasically said Betsy was supposed to be the new Elektra and I would have loved to see her reaction to being replaced. Plus, with Elektra having her own dark reign mini coming out where she is all battered and beaten i believe she needs help from her fellow Hand sister.

I have always loved Psylocke... She's been gone for too long... I miss Betts and her being in the Sisterhood arc hopefully means she will be with the team in San Fran for good. It will be interesting to see the interaction with Betts and Emma :evilsmile: -- I remember that old flirtation with Scott. Even if it was Kwannon's influence, she did admit that she thought Scott was hot later on to Jean. Still Betts is above a simple skirmish about someone like Scott. She will beat Emma by outclassing her. Emma can't fight so it would be embarrassing to even try against Psylocke. I'm sure they will learn to get along.... at some point. Plus, it will be cool to have her back with X-23. Laura will be happy to see Psylocke again, I'm sure. Maybe she'll even end up on X-Force... I could see that.

I don't mind if Scott has a little flirtation with Betsy. But I don't think it's wise to move anything beyond that. The whole Kwannon thing has made many people think that Betsy is a complete slut. Sure, she likes a little playful flirt. But she's no slut. And.. I don't want Betsy to do the same thing as what Emma did to Scott/Jean during the Morrison run. Betsy is far more elegant than that. :wink:

I think the whole Scott-Emma thing is going to crumble this year. And least in a certain way. The signs are all over the place at the moment. Uncanny and the A World Apart mini has shown them.
For the last several months, Marvel has been putting Scott's and Emma's bedroom scene's to our throat. If they indeed broke up.. god knows where those energy has to go.. LOL..

Oh.. and the TK-TP-Precog-Butterfly Signature Psylcoke needs to happen. She doesn't have to have the phoenix level of raw power. Just more skillful and tactital in using her abilities.

You know what.. the first time I was exposed to Psylocke.. I tried to find images of her on the internet and found many Psylocke and Elektra fan arts. Other than being drawn with other fellow X-Men, I think she has been drawn a lot with Elektra. I just can't believe Marvel missed the oppurtinity to explore it.

I kinda like the matching outfits. But Psylocke's my least favorite. It just looked like a variation of her Ninja outfit. I think it'll be better with pants and the top kinda looked wierd to me..
