The most recent explanation given for Psylocke's powerlevel is that all of the enhancements that Jamie gave her are gone and that she's still powerful, but the power is spread out into different areas. I think that Psylocke's powerlevel has been reset back to the level it was when she was in X-treme X-men, which was still pretty powerful--able to take on Rogue and Thunderbird, but now that her telepathic pathways have been re-opened, her telekinetic power has decreased to make way for her increased telepathy. It's like having a glass of water and splitting it between two glasses.


Yep.. I think that's the most reasonable explanation for her power level now. Nick Lowe confirmed about that in the recent Carey's X-position.




So I believe that right now, Psylocke's telepathy is at a level closer to her later Captain Britain days, where she was able to still kill with a thought (Kaptain Briton) or affect between 8-10 minds with a psychic assualt (after Victoria Bentley helped Betsy get stronger after Tom Lennox's death).

As for the TK levels, I guess we'll find out after that explosion in her own mini. Yost and Ketchum mentioned that her mini will definately show what she can and can't do.


That's what i thought as well.. I think she's still a very capable psychic and telekinetic.

TP-wise she's shown been able to do:
- telepathy
- create illusion and change others perception (uncanny 512)
- tk knife
- enchance others power (x-men: the list)
- able to kill with a thought (her mini)

TK-wise she's shown been able to do:
- enhance strength (her mini)
- tk katana (Utopia:exodus)
- tk staff (Nation X:#2)

I'd like to see more of her TK ability. What things she can and cannot do. And I'd love to see her doin' this again:

Mr. Yost wrote that in New Excalibur #8. She's able to create a tk-buble to make someone has a stroke. I think it's pretty similar to the psychic grenade in Ultimate (though the Ultimate one is suppose to be a tp attack)

It'd be interesting to know how she'll manage to survive Fahd exlposive attack in Psylocke #3. I think her telekinetic will play a major role for her survival.




A psycho-blast is like a psychic blast, able to mentally fry the mind--but with the added affect of focused psionic force being directed at you. It's like a TP and TK blast wrapped up into one. It can fry minds as well as bodies, just ask Kaptain Briton. :wink:

Yep.. her psycho-blast was pretty unique. I think it's also shows that she's a latent telekinetic considering the effect of her psycho-blast.
However, as much as I like her psycho-blast I think that trick should be left exclusive for pre-Ninja Betsy :wink:

I do too. The usage of her power in the Outback days suited her-not very combatant-self very well.

I think ninja Betsy should use her power more strategically and creatively but in different ways.
I think her mini has been great in portraying that. Her time in the Omega Red Arc (early adjectiveless) was probably the most creative and strategically use of powers since she was transformed.

Yeah, the Omega Red arc was really the last time she ever really used her telepathy for anything other psi-knifing someone which is really too bad because she was great with controlling Sabes and psychically fooling Omega Red PLUS she had a precognitive flash during that arc as well.

That's pretty much how I feel. I still prefer her powers to be limited to TP and precognition. And I hope they NEVER retcon her Psycho-Blasts as part TK.

I think it was more of a free style thing, but they decided that her mini will be the end all be all of her capabilities. So she's still got her awesome fighting ability, her telepathy is still a force to be reckoned with and she can do almost everything she could before, except her psychic range is not all that good. Once upon a time, Betsy could psychically scan a city or contact somebody from New York to Australia. Now it looks like her psychic reach goes about as far as a city block.

I say that because in The List, she couldn't sense the creature, but Namor could see it, and it wasn't that far away. Also, the cuckoos could sense it and its emotions.

The thing w the tk bubble is cool but the jean bashing isnt cool. I noticed havok83 was the only jean fan and there was about eight psylocke fans attacking the character. The facts are that Jean is a better telepath/telekinetic than betsy. Shes had years of practise. Psylocke prefers to use her tk powers for skills rather than power. She was a good telepath back in the 80s where as jean had no tp powers. In inferno she even blocked jeans access to her tk powers but the point is that jean and betsy are both respectable characters in their own ways. Please stop the jean bashing and dont call her momjeans, i dont call betts the bodysnatcher.

I think that'll be the case. If she's going to create tk weapons.. I don't think it should be limited to only tk katana. The thing is.. with tk weapon.. it should physically cuts/injures the opponent rather than stun them.

Truth. The one thing outside of Tolibaos art is the fact that she IS using her abilities, nearly as well as in the Outback.

Man we need a Outback first class.. It seems to be one of the top X-men Eras.
Also it would give people who only know Psylocke as Asian, a chance to know the British Body and maybe come to respect it.
The way it's going I think thats how the First class books seems to be going. Through certain Era's of the X-men's history.

Hopefully Many peoples favorite era (The Outback) will make a comeback.:cool:

You just have to learn to detach yourself from the negative comments. I used to get upset when people talked badly about Betsy years ago. I'll never forget that someone called Betsy "a stupid whore of a character" and I was heated lol. But now I'm just like "eh, whatever". I'm a fan of Betsy, Emma (and I hear more crap about Emma than anyone), and Maddie so it's all good. :smile:

Psycwave- Maybe I've become desensitized to stuff like that, but I had absolutely no problem buying Psylocke #2. Maybe it's because I used to buy Emma Frost, with the Greg Horn sexualized covers.

I think most of us have become desensitized to it. Especially fans of characters like Psylocke, Emma, She-Hulk etc. But for others who aren't it could be a bit jarring and put some off. Still despite the cover it's good to know that issue 2 is still doing well.



p.s. Psycwave--that costume is nice, but I do think it needs a low belt or something.

Yes, I love the overall design but maybe one or two little extras would have been nice. Maybe some long gloves, a belt, and maybe a jacket of some sort.

Comicsbulletin gave 4 out of 5 for #2.

With the addition of a new character, and the Wolverine card still waiting to be played, the final two issues could go anywhere. At this point it’s anyone’s guess as to whether or not Psylocke will go through with her plan to kill Bill Matsu’o or flake out because of the history they share together. I’d have to say this is damn near a “don’t miss” mini-series. Chris Yost is proving himself worthy of attention with a fun story and he’s handling the character well. Combine that with the fantastic art team and you’ve got yourself a regular monthly pick up

Wolverine is one character that has gotten numerous costumes over the years. Even his current one is not the same one he had when he debuted as its gotten a very modern redesign. Psylocke? She has the same EXACT one from nearly 20 years ago.. No redesign or update for it.

Wolverine is one character that has gotten numerous costumes over the years. Even his current one is not the same one he had when he debuted as its gotten a very modern redesign. Psylocke? She has the same EXACT one from nearly 20 years ago.. No redesign or update for it.

Also, Gambit, Jubilee, Phoenix and Banshee also arent the best examples, as they've all had considerable stints in alternate costumes, especially Jean.

If thats the case, so does Psylocke. Psylocke just Keeps going back to the thong, but so do the other X-men. What is gambit wearing right now? 90s costume. What did Phoenix wear when she reappeared in Endsong? Phoenix costume in Red, White, and Green. What did Banshee wore when he died? His Giant-Sized X-men Uniform and he is wearing it in Necrosha! And what will Jubilee be wearing in Nation X #2 for her return? Her same 90s yellow trenchcoat. So its not just Psylocke. However, if you pay close attention, Psylocke has 4 different versions of the thongkini:

It has a very X-Force look. I love the 'leatherish' look of the outfit. The color scheme is perfect. And the pink/purple belt suits her power signature as well..

Psylocke was born a british woman. She had her mind transplanted into the body of an Japanese assassin named Kwannon and vice versa, through magic and tech. This was done by The Hand with help from Spiral(who may have been retconned out)Kwannon died in Betsy's body. That's really all there is to it. The rest is just extra nonsense.

Either way she'll be drawn by Dodson and then don't forget early next year the story continues with Betsy, Wolverine and Fantomex! So she has had roles in multiple parts of this arc. (With Japanese guy, Emma/void and then Predator X)
