January looks really good for Betsy. She's all over the place.. 3 Covers (4 if you included the New Mutants and 5 if you included the Excalibur collection :))

Saw her MUA2 trailer and loved it!! It's great that the developer remember her move in the MvC (PsyDrill) and use it there. I just wish we'd see more butterflies in the trailer (other than the butterfly kicks)

I think it looks much better in the game than it did in the books. I think a big reason a lot of people disliked it is because she's always called a Dragon Lady by haters lol.

This has always driven me crazy because, yes what did they think? I mean sure Brian and the X-Men understood, but her normal fashion friends were just like 'oh hey your Asian now? Awesome!' I know it's not really necessary to devote any story to that but it's always bugged.

She's like, 5'11'', gorgeous, has legs that go on forever, and has a killer body, in a market where there's hardly any Asian models at all. She'd have been a smash hit.

I don't care for the style he's using in Ultimates. You can't even tell it's Pacheco IMO.

For me Personally I'll always have a soft spot for the pink and frilly. but times changed and got more dangerous, She needed the Armour. So the Armoured aussie suit is always gonna be my personal favorite. BUT the Dragon suit from HoM, was definitely far more appealing to me than the hand outfit. Love the way it looks even more in the game.

Psylocke is a character that most just see as a sexy ninja. With her new miniseries coming on, will we get the opportunity to finally go deeper than this and understand her motivations, dreams, and fears? She's also been changed and transformed so many times since her creation that I wonder – is there anything left in Psylocke from that little blonde British girl who first appeared in "Captain Britain"? Is there any way to unify these different incarnations of the character and make it a whole?


YOST: It's funny, because we do see that "little blonde British girl" a few times in this series. This series is really about this character reflecting on her life and just the flat-out insanity of it, and what that does to a person. Like, what does being involved with the X-Men, and all the death and all the resurrection, and being blinded, and having your brother from an alternate dimension try to hurt you in horrible ways, do to a person? How do you not snap? This is a sad story. It's basically like Matsu'o taking a match and throwing it onto the powder keg that is her life. It's a very touchy-feely book.

I must admint.. I like the shadow-teleport and it suits her ninja background.. BUT.. the Crimson Dawn only convoluted her more in terms of powerset. And although i initially like the tattoo.. I don't want it to stick forever..

I only liked the mini it spawned with Betsy & Warren, it was <3 The powers were unnecessary. Though she used the shadow form well in Psi War (favorite Betsy story ever). I'll never understand how Kelly who apparently never cared for Betsy did such an amazing job with this storyline. Learning about his dislike of Betsy kind of tainted my love of his run, which previously had been my favorite of any writer. It still kind of is though.

i really love the idea of this mini i think it's going to be good now. the writer seems like he knows a lot and will finally address all of the sad random things that Betsy had to go through. it took me a while to warm up to the idea of ninja betsy after that tease of brit bets in fraction's troll run, but i like her again other than in uncanny. if fraction doesn't give up uncanny i really hope C&C get to stay with another X-book and get to take Psylocke with them! i don't read X-force but it seems like it's really good from the previews that are always posted.

I feel the same thing metalgorgomon; loved the power, hated the story. The mini itself was rather unnecessary at the time, since neither Kelly or Seagal bothered about it when they wrote Betsy and Warren.

I think it has a lot to do with him not having an inker that suites his style (he doesn't need his work inked so thick it looks horrible) and also a combination of him recycling way too many poses/faces etc.

Yes. Wetsuit=Greatest Betsy outfit of all time. Even if it wasn't really a costu,e and she only wore it for like two issues. It was absolutely phenomenal and needs to be brought back.

New characters!!! Woot!! I wonder if this guy suffered from a body switch or something as well or perhaps Matsuo needed a mutant body? Whatever, I'm excited....I wonder what they meant by saying that she'd see Wolverine in a new light? (could she have graduated to wolverine's closest friends like Nightcrawler and colossus have)

FTR Psylocke breasteses aren't actually huge. drawn that way sometimes sure, but not really consistent like Rogue's. She does have a badunkadunk though. That never changes.

One thing that always bugged me after CC made Betsy asian was how in every single issue he had to tell us that her psy blade was the total focus of her TP. It was utterly ridiculous how Psylocke would always bust out saying so as she is fighting someone. Just take a look at this

I think so. I think her TK is slowly fading away while her TP is getting stronger. Hopefully her mini will firmly define her powers

I actually miss her saying that line. Talking shit right before stabbing a peson in the face is what made me love her. I love how Magneto interrupted her thoughts with strangulation in that comic. He was all like: Bitch you talk to much. Stab first then talk later. She got him back thought with the focused of the focus totality of her powers and a sprinkle of Cortez.

I wonder how long until they totally negate her having telekinesis? I'm hoping VERY, VERY SOON.

I hope she keeps the TK. After she was resurrected, it did help her keep from getting her ass handed to her all the time like she did in the 90s. However, it does seem that Fraction has at least acknowledged the fact that Betsy can perform psychic feats other than the psychic knife.

It's obvious that her TK isn't as powerful as it was under Claremont, but that's cool. I do hope her powers are more defined in this mini though.

I don't think the teke was a bad idea but how it was used. I have said it time and time again. CC had the right idea at first using it to enhance her fighting abilities and whatnot, but he crazy with the flying, having a teke sword act like the psy-blade, and suddenly able to go invisible.

When I think of Psylocke right now, I think of Prue Halliwell when she became an empath for an episode. She was using martial arts, predicting moves, enhancing her strength, doing higher than normal flips and hovering with her enhanced TK.

I do think that right now the writers are going in the right direction. She's using her telepathy to probe land/seascapes, enhance abilities, cast illusions, etc. As for the telekinesis, it helps her from being seen as redundant like she was often said back when Xavier and Jean were hogging all the glory back in the 90s. Now there's no Jean or Rachel around to use TK. Just Betsy.

ROFL!! That was my EXACT reaction when Ultimate Betsy got killed by Colossus! Yeah, the Vargas fight was a complete failure. I always wanted to at least see the whole fight in a flashback or something while she was dead. TK can stop hearts, so why did she lose? OMG, I just remembered X-men Die By the Sword when she jumped in fighting with NO TK at ALL and got beat up and SAGE had to save her. That was a mess.

Jim Lee was the best at drawing it. Loved how psylocke came back even though the sisterhood storyline was quite vague. I would have liked if Fraction would have brought back jean grey...

I actually didn't mind the TK, sure it was weird at first, but then it kinda grew on me. I have to admit though, having her back to TP is absolute awesomeness...

I'm with you Seccruz, except I hated the TK at first. It was around the time X-treme X-men #4 came out that I started changing my tune. I got to thinking and realized that Betsy used her TK in more ways than she used her TP. In her last years as a telepath, she was reduced to just the psychic knife.

At least with her TK she was using it to enhance her strength and speed, forcefields to deflect incoming blasts, TK blasts, and matter manipulation all in one battle with Rogue and Thunderbird III- which was awesome. She was getting creative with it when she was with the Exiles, but I didn't like how that invisibility trick just came outta nowhere.

I didn't want her to lose the TK because I was scared that she'd go back to just the psychic knife and nothing else. I'm glad that she's back to being telepathic and actually using her abilities in multiple ways, but how long is that gonna last? I do wonder what her limits are in regards to the TK though...

That is not the case,Drey.And you've said it yourself,according to what we've seen so far,the writers appear to be interested to have Psylocke use her powers and her ninja skills balancedly,so her telekinesis should just fade away...Telekinesis is an awesome power when it is used with skill and Betsy did not possess the skill required to use it gracefully.She may be strong in terms of raw power,but she lacks in skill,that's a fact.

(Needless to mention that the augmentation of her TK was used as a substitute for character development.Hence my primary disapproval of it.)

Yeah her Xtreme XMen look by Larroca was great. I loved it! That's the kind of update we need for her hand outfit if Marvel doesn't want to let it go. I'm tired of Betsy just wearing blue all the time.

That is one of the best rendition of the psychic knife I've ever seen. Totally a fan of Tolibad's art in this mini. Didn't quite like his work on the Ultimate X-Men but the art team here seems to blend very nicely with his drawing..

I have never been the biggest Psylocke fan but I am looking forward to this mini. The art looks amazing and it seems to be moving Betsy past the dark seductress role she played in the 90s... I found that annoying.

Okay I just got back in but I see Lucky already did the review(:frown:). I thought the issue was really decent for a setup. The scene with her and Wolvie was nice, and the little flashbacks of her in blonde british form were really cute. The art was really good as well. There were some scenes that were a little iffy(such as the features in her asian form and brit bod looking exactly alike) but other than that nothing to major. Her tits were MASSIVE. Her fight with the ninja were spectacular. I loved when she knocked one back and added extra force with her tk. The exact type of execution I love to see with that type of power. And as we all assumedthe brit bod is destroyed.

All in all great issue.

The lady at the LCS (who has been working there for like a zillion years, lol) said she only ordered 25. Given the economy, she wasn't sure how many to order. She said she learned her lesson ("I didn't realize Psylocke was so popular!") and will order more for the next issue. That in itself is good news since Marvel bases success on the number of issues these stores order.

RIGHT?! Together in the Psylocke mini, the upcoming issue of X-Force, the previous Uncannys ... I love it. Even seeing Wolverine pop up in the mini didn't bother me because it touches on their old friendship, too. I love seeing Psylocke reconnect with her old pals; it'd be perfection if she posed for another of Colossus's paintings!

I would have LOVED to see what kind of magic Bets and Ali would have unleashed on the City (San Francisco) had they not been sidelined, lol.

No extremes were traded out for fusions. Fusions are where two people use their combined powers to take out a horde of enemies. Psylocke is usually the striker in her fusions.

Yeah there are two issues of Legacy in December the second one that month is the Necrosha-tie in issue that features Psylocke, Rogue, Colossus, etc in Genosha.

It's going to be released late in December, can't wait!

OMG that would be heaven. The sell-out at Diamond was great. I heard that some shops ordered only like 20 or so issues and it was a major misstep because people came in loads for the book. I have a friend who said his shop sold out in like the first hour and they definitely are gonna order more with issue 2.

It's good to know that Psylocke still has that superstar quality, and the fact that Yost is writing doesn't hurt either.

The artist is great at creating body language on paper and I think it was a perfect for the X-Girls. Too bad the script will probably be horrendous.

That's what I was thinking when we got all the solicits with her on the covers of Uncanny, but then Emma temporary lost access to her TP and it made all sense..

Imagine that she'll be shuffled back away again so that Emma can shine more after the void plot is dealt with.

She was the stand-in leader during the later Aussie days too. Did a decent job, she kept them all from being killed by the Reavers.
