Does anyone know what Claremont's plans for bringing Ray back was? I know he wanted to bring her back before he moved from Uncanny to X-Treme, but I'm not aware of the details.

I kinda wish we'd have seen that. I'd much rather see Rahne, Dani, Ray and Forge instead of Lifeguard, TB3 and Slipstream added to the team. Ahh, oh well.

I'd normally disagree, but this was so funny to read I can't help but to sort-of agree with you. Beast should either be killed or leave to the Avengers. He's boring in UXM, and that book already has too much bad stuff as it is.

In other news, I love Gilesy's idea of a Betsy-ran Hand. She could even approach Elektra for partnership, and they could have a ninja fight over wether their outfits look better on purple or red. And then Elektra would stoically accept, because she knows it'd be awesome :biggrin:

I agree on the first two assessments, but the third leads me to think you're biased for British rule and racist against the Greek. I'd tell you to beware Ares and/or Hercules, but Betsy and Rogue are totally gonna kick Ares' godly ass in Utopia and MU Hercules is MU Hercules, so it'd be sorta void as a threat.

Ah! Thanks for that! I remember when the mysterious telepath first showed up. I immediately knew it was Betsy. It was so obvious. Some chick coming from the shadows with a pink/purple aura with long hair (under Salva's pencils)? Dead giveaway--and what appeared to be the CD tattoo (but could have been the lighting) was on her face.

When it turned out to be Rachel I was so disappointed. It didn't make too much sense because you mean to tell me that Bogan had a powerful telepath/telekine and he never even had her use her TK except to "phase"? Not to mention how the MT's hair seemed to go from long hair (when she first appeared) to seemingly bald (under Kordey).

Can't wait for UXM #514. Please tell me it's out tomorrow.

OMG. Yes. I'm pretty sure Fraction was talking about Betts and the other three. I can't wait for Uncanny, even if she doesn't have an important role. I really liked the Sciece Team issue, and I've been enjoying Utopia so far. Fraction has improved a lot. Plus he's cute. Yay.

LOL.. you're getting soft with Fraction, G. But yeah, I really like the Science Team issue and Utopia has been great so far (both are not pencilled by Land and Dodson though)

I'm sure Betts/Liza will do 'something' in #514. I even think she'll 'lead' the girls for the mission (i know.. i'm being optimistic)

I think Betts power (TK sword) will help in fighting the human sentinel. Her TK sword usually won't hurt the human body but destroy/cut anything that's not living material, right?
So she might take a role in recovering/disabling Trask forces of human sentinel.

Thanks for sharing your drawing of Betsy, Justin.
It's a nice change from her Hand outfit. The top reminds me of Sage's. The costume reveals too much skin tho (which I wouldn't complain if she wears one :wink: )

Only the top part shows skin, the bottom part is all covered up.
I'll probably get a coloured and better drawn one in when I can :P

Co-sogned to the 3rd power.I really miss her with those 4 and brian. She is her best when she is with them, the people she deeply care about. That is when the writing was good. The true friends brought out the best in everyone. God we need better writing.

I also want her to have new interactions, with lorna, armor, danger, ms. Marvel, elekra, spiderman, and a few others. Dunno why, but I think it would be awesome if armor looks up to liza.

The issue is X-Men Annual 2000. As for your other question, she can regulate the amount of power or the effect it has on her "victims". I remember in X-Treme X-Men 1 where she used the TK katana on a guardia civil member and she cut through his aromr but left the guy intact...

Your drawing is very good, I especially like the eyes. Two questions though; is the katana going to be "real" or a psi-weapon, and are you going to color the sides of Betsy upper body in skin colors, or is that part of the costume?

so now the "suggestion" power is confirmed as her having telepathy again.

it'd be nice if they explain why psylocke still only uses her psi-knife/katana when she now has both telepathy and telekinesis, powers which can knock out most foes from a distance.

i hope the telekinesis eventually fades or it leaves her by saying of a portion of the phoenix jean lent her is being recalled back. psylocke doesn't need both powers to be awesome.

LMAO! OMG I totally agree. I have enjoyed his run a lot more since the X-Club solo issue, and Utopia is a lot better than Sisterhood. I don't mind admitting to say I like it just because everyone here is afraid to say it.

Yeah, Matt Fraction is really stepping up as good writer, Utopia is actually very enjoyable at the moment and it's getting better and better.

And yeah Fraction is cute! :P

That CCI interview did wonders for Mr Fraction. I found him to be quite funny and I was glad to see how dedicated he was to his work.I regret so deeply some of my harsher words towards him when I first joined this forum.

Looks like Mystique's leather costume...

They are similar, but it still looks hot. There's some slight differences though. Mystique's "X" symbol is on her lower abdomen while Betsy's is on her chest. Mystique's hands are fully covered too while we get to see Psylocke's perfectly manicured, painted nails. :D

Psylocke also has on one of those leg buckles in homage to her ninja outfit. I've always wanted Betsy in a dark colored body suit so I'm completely in heaven right now and she has the powers I want too. <3 <3 <3

Edit: Noticed that CmX also always wanted Betsy in a body suit. It's that psychic twin thing at work again!!!

lol Our mental bond is still strong after all these years of separation! This outfit reminds me a lot of the Black Cats, maybe it's the zipper and the cleavage. Loves it. This sort of outfit suits a ninja like Psylocke rather than the blue thong. I hope to God it sticks.

Or it could just be the voices in her head. I've been known to refer myself as "we" when I'm at work and I sometimes answer the phone using different names. Sometimes my name is Pablo and I answer the phone while speaking Spanish. :biggrin:

I love the new costume! Psylocke looks SO hot. I've always wanted her in a full body suit, but it seems as though this will be a temporary look. I guess it pertains to her mission given to her by Cyclops.

Which sucks. :/ I guess it makes sense why in Exodus she's back in the hand outfit. Hope I'm wrong though. I like the eye shadow, it's sexy.

I didn't notice it before.. And yess.. I also like the eye shadow..
Betsy is looking sexy and fierce i those preview pages..

This is probably one of the better Betsy outfit and yet it seems that it's temporary.
I'm with you (and Drey.. and probably many others) who wants her in a (good) full body suit.
She looks like a second in command person of the X-Men with that suit (Cyclops being the first, of course) :smile:

I really like Betsy's new costume. It's great having Betsy back in a main book and with her telepathy back too.

It will be interesting to see how she will be portrayed with both tp and tk in terms of power level and specialized skills.

I'd like to see Betsy with a tk shield that actually looks like a shield.

Two tk katana's sound cool too but how about a psi-knife on one hand and a tk katana in the other or a tk shield on one arm and a knife/katana in the other hand?

I think she'll use two real-solid katanas in the miniseries..

YOST: In the upcoming “Psylocke” miniseries, she’s going to be using her telepathy, her telekinesis, and two katana swords to get the job done. So you’re definitely going to see a wide range of abilities and use of those abilities coming up.

And from Yost's description, she'll be like the early 90's Psylocke who used real Katana and psychic abilities (telepathy) effectively

Wow, this thread really blew up after a slow few days. All its needed was a few preview pages with Betsy in them. I must say the previews got me excited for UXM 514 and the rest of Utopia. I still think Psylocke looks a little mannish in the first panel with the other three women, but she looks terrific on the next page when she’s reporting to Scott. I love her smile. I also like that she seems to be leading a group (“we’re on it”) and I liked the familiarity of Cyclops calling her “Bets.” She’s been on the team for over 20 years of real-time, so they should know each other pretty well by now (no one panic, I would never suggest something so blasphemous as them getting together, I just like seeing any example of the friendship she has formed with her teammates after so many years.) I was initially nervous as to what the new costume would look like, but I really like it, and would be glad to see it stick around.

Eh, Armor Psylocke is kind of redundant at this point, I think. The suit served a purpose once, as protection for a purely psychic Betsy, but now that Psylocke has the means to defend herself physically from an opponent, the armor is no longer needed.

Sometimes Asian telepathic Betsy's butterfly was a bit more abstract than British Betsy's but sometimes it looked the same as it originally did.

Asian Betsy's floating butterfly effect in X-Cutioner's Song looked just like the butterfly effect she manifested all the time when she was british.

I don't know why creators forget that Asian Betsy always had the butterfly effect too and only lost it when she lost her telepathic powers.

her new wetsuit reminds me of the catsuit Emma Peel wore in the old Avengers Tv series, and is exactly what I always imagined her to be dressed in.
I like that she will be using 2 katana blades (instead of those TK katanas, never liked those) and a return of her TP (sans the butterfly effect, and precog flashes unfortunatly)

what I wanted was Besty to return to her british body, put her in the costume she just got, with a return of TP(butterfly communication/ psychoblast), Precog flashes (no more TK and psychic knife), and still retaining her ninja training.
But you cant always get what you want so we have to make due with what we have now, marvel will never change her back cause shes more recognizable as asian for merchandising I guess, I wonder what Joe Quesada answer would be regarding this.

No. The last time we saw the butterfly signature was during the Twelve storyline. When she switched to pure telekinesis the signature disappeared.

But the editors and writers always refer to the butterfly as "British Betsy", I guess they forget she still had it years after being transformed.

Yeah wasn't it the Wolverine issues of The Twelve storyline?

Sometimes Asian telepathic Betsy's butterfly was a bit more abstract than British Betsy's but sometimes it looked the same as it originally did.

Asian Betsy's floating butterfly effect in X-Cutioner's Song looked just like the butterfly effect she manifested all the time when she was british.

I don't know why creators forget that Asian Betsy always had the butterfly effect too and only lost it when she lost her telepathic powers.

Yep.. I think the Wolverine issues of The Twelve was the last time we saw Ninja Betsy with the butterfly signature. And that happened even after she 'lost' her telepathy to lock/trap Shadow King.

It bugs the hell out of me that most writers only associate the butterfly siggy only to Brit Betsy. The butterfly IS Betsy's unique telepathy power signature. She has it in the Wolverine and The X-Men series..even the Marvel vs Capcom 2 Game still has Ninj Betsy with the butterfly signature..

Hey, so just a random fantasy/cool thought. Just imagine if Jean was alive and Psylocke was possesed by a powerful evil entity. Now imagine Jean having to fight powerful evil Betts. Lastly picture a blazing Phoenix manifestation and a blindingly bright violet butterfly manifestation flying into each other and battling. Loud explosions. Blinding lights. Psychics crying in pain all across the planet. What the hell, everyone on Earth fainting from the immense psychic backlash! I might be the only one having a fangasm over this, much less remotely interested by the idea, but imagine this scene in a movie with all the special effects. Hell, I would even take a comic book. Maybe one of those nifty What If stories! Well, I know Im just dreaming but I think that would be absolutely amazing.

Hey that would be a really good picture. I'm no artist but if anyone with even remotely a knack for drawing would make a picture of that it would be awesome to see and I would really appreciate it!!!

P.S- Dodson's Betsy in her... fitting new uniform, makes Elektra look like a transgender with with a faint moustache. Ow!!!

Well, if she had it until she lost her telepathy, and she JUST got that back, did anyone really fforget about it? She hasn't done anything overly telepathic yet that would warrant a butterfly manifestation. Let's wait and see, maybe we will be surprised.

And if this issue turns out to be as enjoyable as the preview, I MAY need to make an apology for all the Fraction bashing. However, I will never apologize for the Land bashing. No Way No How!!

I am all for the return of the butterfly manifestation, but I also like the more subtle eye thing Paquette did in 512. I wouldn't mind seeing that instead. Also if her telepathy levels are lower (for whatever reason) than they have been in the past like they were in that issue, it would kind of make sense that she have a correspondingly less dramatic manifestation of her powers. But if she has returned to full telepathic status, then I hope the butterfly comes back.

I love dodson's work and all, but I think he traces too. I never knew how much black queen emma and rogue on the cover of legacy looks like identical twins.

As much as I like Psylocke's new hair style, it's the same hair style he draws for, like, everyone at some point. Greg Land has the loose waves and he has the asymmetrical bang.

I think they hate the application of how the katana is used. It works exactly like the knife, such as breaking mind control, scrambling a person's neural net, or locking someone into a fugue state where they can't move their bodies. The only added bonus is that it can cut through inanimate objects.

Personally, I like the telekinetic katana more than the psychic knife because it has more visual appeal, IMO. I also like how it can cut through real objects.

Since she has both now, I think she should be able to cut people with the telekinetic katana and save all the other stuff for the psychic knife, but in the mini we probably won't have to worry about it since she'll likely carry two real katanas.

Giles- LOL that pic is awesome! I hated that little girl in the front. She was such a bitch.

I'm pretty sure she's wearing it in the Psylocke mini preview, so I don't think this one is gonna last long :mad:

Doesn't the Psylocke mini-series pick up directly after the 'Sisterhood' storyline, with Betsy returning her original body to its proper burial place? "Despite regaining her senses and her ninja warrior body at the end of the 'Sisterhood' arc in 'Uncanny', Betsy Braddock still has a mess of a life (or lives) to clean up before she can move forward with her team – starting with what to do with her own corpse," Yost recently stated, adding that, "It was tricky to decide what aspect of the character to take on. We figured coming out of 'Sisterhood,' the matter at hand was that there are two Psylockes sitting there... So out of respect, Psylocke is returning her other body to its grave."

I interpret that to mean that Psylocke is wearing her Hand outfit because, more likely, the events of the mini take place after 'Sisterhood' but before 'Utopia'; also meaning that her new wetsuit could very well be her new costume. (That certainly sounds more plausible than Psylocke prancing around and time-traveling for months in Uncanny X-Men before going, ''Hey, my body's just been hanging out downstairs in Hank McCoy's cryogenic chamber while I've been fending off Warren's pervy advances. Again. Um, maybe, like, I should finally go bury it or something.")

I say, before the Internet starts to crack in half with the constant push/pull over Psylocke's costume (seeing as how the whole English/Asian debate seems to have finally died down), wait until the story comes out and continue reading future issues of Uncanny X-Men before jumping to conclusions.

Personally, I like the telekinetic katana more than the psychic knife because it has more visual appeal, IMO. I also like how it can cut through real objects.

Since she has both now, I think she should be able to cut people with the telekinetic katana and save all the other stuff for the psychic knife, but in the mini we probably won't have to worry about it since she'll likely carry two real katanas.

uh it really isn't that big of a deal to be curious as to what she'll be wearing. every time she has had a costume change in the last 15+ years it goes back to The Hand costume, but it's exciting to have a change once in a while regardless. the same with the temporary British Betsy. it'd be boring here if we were all just accepting of everything the way it is and didn't debate things. there wouldn't be any discussion at all.

Yeah no kidding..... she had the revolution outfit for like ten issues, then Larroca's xtreme outfit lasted three issues, then she was ressurected with the blue/gold classic outfit for about nine/ten issues, then HoM outfit for about two/three issues. Then she was blessed with the great Grummet' Exiles outfit for the eighteen issues the series lasted. Her newer suits never seem to last for long and it always goes directly back to that stupid blue thong.

The thonkini looks good on Elektra - it looks good on Betsy too, but not in the same way. I actually loved the NE costume, it would have been more fun if the Sisterhood had found her in that. Plus I miss the Tallus-bracelet.

If I can recall correctly I think originally before she returned to Uncanny they originally planned on directing her to X-Force. So who knows cgar! :)

As for the mini, X-Men: Psylocke, I think Yost is going to show the more deadly side of Betsy. Which is something I can say we haven't seen in Psylocke.

I don't think I like the idea of her killing :/ It seems like they might try to make her a deadly assassin ninja, but I think they could do a great mini without changing the inner Psylocke's personality. She always seemed mysterious and maybe not so trustworthy in the beginning, but never seemed murderous to me.

Yeah she says it in Uncanny 455, I believe, I think it was just her lashing out with a full tk blast against the more controled Rachel... They were both Omega level telekinetics...

I wouldn't call Betsy as an Omega though. She's an Alpha. Her psychic potential isn't without limit. Jamie even confirmed that he 'remade' her to her fullest potential (no more loose string). However, her TK power (at that time) was greater than Rachel's.
That however.. is about to change after "The Sisterhood".. I'm not sure to what extent her power level now. But Yost told us that it'll be clear in her mini series..

I wouldn't mind with Betsy being a bit murderous..as long as it's for a good cause. However, giving a near to death blow or slice/stab is far more difficult than stabbing someone to death, IMO.
I expect lots of blood in her miniseries.. But IF Betsy have to kill someone.. I hope he/she better worth Betsy's killing hand.
